Pathfinder Computer RPG

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

I prefer tabletop RPGs to computers, but I have a problem. I am having difficulty finding somebody to GM a Pathfinder game, besides me. I would LOVE to see a Pathfinder CRPG just so I could possibly play a magus.

Where are you from, these boards are vastly full of players all over.

I am sure there are some dedicated pathfinder players that would love the company of a fellow roleplayer.

Maybe that isnt your cup of tea but just a suggestion.

I dont think there is a Computer game :S

Silver Crusade

You could try to get into a Play-by-Post. There's quite a few of them here and at other websites that host forums. The pacing is sometimes leisurely, but you get some really deep role playing. Be ready to create a character, not just a build and stat block.

Mainly this was vent, lol. I have been getting my RPG fix, though not very well, with Dragon Age & DDO. Neither is completely satisfying.

Shadewest, I have thought of PbP, but I really don't think it would be for me. Not sure if I could get into a Virtual Tabletop game & I actually own a full copy of d20Pro.

Midnightoker, I live in Tennessee in a small town. Despite it being a college town, gamers are few. When I find them, most are interested in anything but Pathfinder.

Well I am a kentucky man myself so I cant help you there.

Calling all Gamers is Tennessee!

Sovereign Court

That's a bummer.

I only do Virtual via MapTool and TeamSpeak, cause I live in the dregs of Utah where I'm a heathen and a curse upon the good citizens of religiosity. :P

Xorial,I understand were you're coming from. For years I struggled to find a group until, I checked out the local meetup site. An online gaming guild may also be a good way to hook up with gamers in you're area. As for PC gaming, while I haven't played DDO or Dragon Age, I've heard a few reviews which support you're opinions. I would recommend Neverwinter Nights(if you haven't played it already) as an alternative, It is the best Conversation of the 3.5 Ruleset I've played. You may still be able to find a copy in your local software store!

A fellow Kentucky gamer? Awesome! I know a couple of others on here as well.

On the topic: there are no Pathfinder PC games that I know of but I would love to see one.

I have NWN2. Thinking about reinstalling it. Problem I really have is the desire to try the Magus, lol. The closest thing is cheating on Dragon Age so I can play a mage with the Arcane Warrior specialty from the start, along with some other mods to make it work better.

I've been struggling with the group thing since 1984. I have DMed a lot since then, but I haven't gotten to play but 2 sessions since 1987. I know there isn't a computer game for Pathfinder & I doubt there is even one in the works. I was just venting & wishing all in one post. It is hard being a gamer geek in the Rural South. :P

I decided to mention the other vent. The gamers I do get, when I DM, are almost exclusively "hack n slashers". They are more worried about the next combat than really developing a story for their character. Then My best friend is the WORST metagamer out there. He NEVER tries to divorce his characters knowledge from his personal knowledge. And all of them depend on me to know all the rules for them. I can't get them to read the books for anything. That friend that does, hasn't read Pathfinder & won't get it thru his head that there are some difference from the 3.5e books he does know. He won't let go of some of the differences he remembers in 1e. Thinks that the new versions can't possibly be THAT different.

I hear you about the hack n slasher types, I've dealt with a few of them myself. Real gamers will see that there is more to the game than that(I speak from experience there) Personally I have found that developing a character is one of the most rewarding parts of the game, and the hobby in general. Admittedly developing a campaign would be as well, though I haven't DM'ed to the extent of the previous poster
I have tried to get friends involved in the hobby, but many of them are casual gamers at best, and hack n slashers at worst. It's too bad we don't live in the same area Xorial, as I think you would be a welcome addition to any group,on either side of the table!

Grand Lodge

If they'd just release the open code for Neverwinter Nights we could change it to make a Pathfinder version... that game is like 10+ years old and the player released content and upgrades and the RP servers they STILL have running would make the game rock...

Heck, the code is Old - if Paizo was desperate maybe Blizzard would sell them/upgrade for them cheap.... for a given value of 'cheap'.

If you dont mind me asking, where in Tennessee do you live. I live in Lynchburg and have been wanting to get in a Pathfinder game for awhile now, but I haven't found ANY gamers. If your anywhere close maybe we could work something out.

If you are not averse to playing online, there is a large community of Pathfinder players online. I would say the Pathfinder Society Online Collective is probably the fastest way to find many one-shot organzied play, but there is the RPTools.net website, Tangled Web, ENWorld and many others. If you want, I can run you thru some of the VTT's as I use most.

I don't think I would have a problem with an online game, but it has been quite a few years since I have played in any game and I have not played PFRPG at all. I would feel more comfortable getting back into it if I could play in atleast a couple of face to face sessions. That being said, online gaming vs. not gaming... I will have to check into the online collective.
