Ogre's Sheet - Excel Character Creator

11 people marked this as a favorite.

Linked below is a free Excel-based character sheet creator. (It is not compatable with Open Office). It is currently in a Beta-testing phase.

General Information

It is designed for printing off a character. Although it can be used for in-game play on a laptop, that is not its primary focus at this time.

It is a multi-page landscape/horizontal design:
- Page 1: all stats & skills, including conditional bonuses notes;
- Page 2: all text related information on abilities, feats, etc.;
- Page 3: Weapons & Armor;
- Page 4: Equipment;
- Page 5: Spell List;
- Page 6: Summary (Stat Block)

This sheet is not a replacement for the Pathfinder Core Rulebook - you will likely need to make occasional references to your Rulebook.

Ease of Use as its primary design focus.

Customization as its secondary focus. I wanted to make it easy for people to add in non-core rule information.

Non-Excel users should not have a problem using the sheet.

Excel macros will need to be enabled under your security settings.

The sheet is very large, and due to some complex tables it does take considerable time to load / save.

Ogre's Sheet

This sheet is a still a working project. The sheet "should" be error free with respect to all Core Rulebook material. I am currently working on inputing all APG material at this time.

Note: this link will always download the most recent version of the sheet.

Please post any problems / suggestions / feedback either to this thread or e-mail me: here

=================
Current Status
=================

I have begun entering the following APG information into the sheet:

- Alchemist - all info is entered, but I have not tested this class or its related selections on the Spell List.
- Cavalier - all info is entered, but I have not tested this class or its mount animal companion feature
- Inquisitor - all info is entered, but I have not tested this class or its related selections on the Spell List.
- All APG spells have been entered.
- All APG feats have been entered, however I have not begun linking the descriptions to the actual character statistics.

I am hoping to have all the classes input into the sheet by the end of December.

All previously identified errors in the Alpha version should be resolved. Please let me know if there are still any errors noted.

Note: Custom Domains are not working at this time.

Sorry for the long delay since the last revision.

Please ensure you use the current link for downloading the sheet (www.d20.ca) as the old link will soon expire.

Dark Archive

Immediate feedback to you, Kor.

When booting up the inquisitor at level 1, for 'select a domain', all I get is #NAME? for all of his selections. Can't seem to find any source for this, but I only started using your sheet about a week ago - so it might be error on my part.

Hi Kor,

I was recreating my 1st level fighter and in the Stat page I was picking my Diety and the Diety Info shows #NAME?. Thanks for all your hard work and merry Xmas.

I am also getting the domain choice of #NAME? for the first and second domain when recreating my cleric. Thanks.

Shadow Lodge

Thanks for the great Christmas present :)

The armour heavy armour is transfering over to the summary fine now.

Enjoy the festivities!

====== New Revision =======

Version Beta 1.1 now released.

The domain name problem identified in the prior threads has been fixed. (Sorry all -- was sort of a silly error on my part).

The link is still taking me to Alpha 0.75ey

I think it has something to do with your web browser settings. I suspect that if you click the "refresh" button when you are on the page, it will then show the current page.

Clearing your temporary internet files should also work.

Unbelievably useful sheet. I fully appreciate the time put into it.

I noticed a couple of errors/suggestions, thought I'd pass them along.

Every character is getting the Inquisitor's Cunning Initiative bonus.

Druid's Nature Bond: If Domain is Chosen, and Animal is the chosen Domain, no Animal companion is given at 4th level (or ever).

Skills: Won't probably come up much, but if you try to override a skill to NOT be a class skill, nothing changes. Works perfectly the other way around.

Familiar: If they have a feat, the feat's bonuses aren't adding to their statistics. Specific example: Fox, has skill focus Perception, Wis 12, only has a total Perception check of +1.

It seems like on the Bonuses page, that anything adding to caster level, doesn't work, though I don't know if this would actually show anywhere else in the workbook. (I was trying to use it to duplicate spellcasting ability for Prestige classes)
On same page, more of a suggestion, there is no way to add Temporary hit points.

I can't tell you how great it is having a sheet that is this complete. My group is like "Even the traits?...WOW."

Thanks, I have that fixed now. (For next the revision).

Wow, I completely overlooked the animal domain ability to grant an animal companion. I should have that working for the next revision.

Sageasa5 wrote:

Thanks for mentioning this. I never thought about allowing it to also override a class skill to a non-class skill. I agree that it probably won't come up often, but it's easy enough to do and helps people customize any "unique" classes.

Sageasa5 wrote:

I have now fixed this too.

Fixed.

Sageasa5 wrote:

This is something I will need to figure out how best to add it... but I agree it should be added. The sheet was mainly designed just to print out a character sheet. (Not very tree friendly). I know several are using it as a "live" character sheet when they bring their laptop to the gaming table, so I am trying to accomidate that ability as well.

Are you also going to add the new Sorcerer bloodlines from the APG?

Scarab Sages

I am not seeing all the Core Rules Prestige Classes. I was using another sheet and does not seem to be getting updated so I am thinking about moving to your sheet. My character has a couple of levels of Shadowdancer but it does not show up on the pull down menu for classes. Only the Loremaster does.

Thanks...

Shem wrote:

Yes. Once all the Base classes are done, then I will do all the race options, and then begin on all the class options.

All the Core PrC's are there, but they do check for the pre-requisites. If you did meet the prereq's and still didn't have it available as a selection please let me know:

Dodge
Mobility
Combat Reflexes
Stealth 5
Perform (dance) 2

just popping in to say thanks again, happy holidays and to bookmark post :)

Kor, once you're ready to have a "release" version. You should really post it at the Pathfinder Database. We're the #1 place to go for Pathfinder character sheet downloads.

I definately plan too. I was planning to add it on after I got all the Core Rules completed. However, I fear a multitude of e-mails asking about APG status if I do that :) So, once APG material is all in, then I will definately be adding it the DB.

I will double check and make sure I have all these prerequisites. I am rebuilding a character from a previous sheet and may have missed something because I am going right to 8th level.

I may not continue with this because the new bloodines was what got me to change and I will have to redo it when you get the sheet done with those.

I think I see the problem. Combat reflexes came as a rogue talent rather than a feat. Does that make sense?

Let me know.

Shem wrote:

The way I designed it, it doesn't matter how you acquire the feat (but it was a good thought in thinking that might be problem).

I just tested it, and it is working for me. I used the following:

- 5 levels of rogue
- 1 rank of Stealth at each class level
- 1 rank of Perform (dance) for 2 class levels
- Dodge as my level 1 feat
- Mobility as my level 3 feat
- Combat trick (combat reflexes) as my level 4 rogue talent

Now, at level 6, it does give me Shadowdancer as an available PrC.

Scarab Sages

I will play with it some more. Again, I was not building from the ground up - I may not have put all my skill ranks in yet. I was jumping around a bit.

Thanks...

Scarab Sages

Pathfinder Maps Subscriber

I see the problem. The book does not say anything about 5 levels of rogue.

Just:

Stealth 5 ranks
Perform (dance) 2 ranks
Combat Reflexes
Dodge
Mobility

I have all the skill points and feats but I only have 4 levels of rogue and 1 of sorcerer. Where do you get the 5 levels of rogue?

Scarab Sages

How do I choose a language?

To Shem:
I tried to get Shadowdancer as you did and hit a wall. Then I realized that I had only put ranks in Perform. Not chosen dance underneath it and then put 2 ranks in that. After doing this, Shadowdancer popped right up.

Languages are on their own sheet/tab, "Languages". To gain another your character must have Int mod of +1 or greater, or take points in Linguistics skill. That sheet will track those and you simply put a 1 in the box next to the language you want.

To Kor:
Just to be annoying, a couple of suggestions/requests.

On the Arms tab, in the section where you can apply feats - whenever you get Furious Focus and Focused Shot applied mechanically, could they be added to the list you can apply?

And on the Custom tab, would it be incredibly difficult to add a "Notes" cell that could print sectional notes on the character sheet? Like you have set up for racial speed modifiers to acrobatics or situational save modifiers.
Along the same lines, could the character sheet list, as notes, the name of any bonuses applied from the Bonus tab? Not a huge deal, but could be handy.

Scarab Sages

Pathfinder Maps Subscriber

I did put the skill points in Perform (Dance) right off the bat but that still hasn't helped.

I think it is because I only have 4 ranks or Rogue.

Thanks, I could not figure out what to put in the box to get it to show up on the sheet. I will try putting a 1 in it.

Scarab Sages

I added another level of Rogue and it still did not bring up Shadowdancer. I do not know what to do to make it happen at this point.

Also, I was just adding my Sorcerer spells and Read Magic is not on the list for 0 level spells. Also in first level spells Reduce Person is not coming up. Funny that they are both Rs...

Grand Lodge

This is a request that can wait but can you make an option where the Pre Req's for Prestige classes and another for feats, where they can be turned off?

I am a HUGE fan of E6 - the sheet works GREAT for E6, including allowing extra feats to be added each level but doesnt work 'Capstone' feats. I'd love an option to allow level 7+ class features to be added on a case by case basis as feats or levels to be added without additional spells/BAB additions but THATS way beyond what you are doing at the moment... so for the moment (once APG is done) I'd just settle for Pre req's to be turned off.

Of course by the time you complete the APG stuff, you'd hear all the people complain about not having the stuff from "Ultimate Magic" included. :-) I, of course, am saying that with my tongue in my cheek!

I always welcome suggustions/requests... they have really helped the sheet overall :)

Sageasa5 wrote:

I will include those feats as selections on the Arms page.

Sageasa5 wrote:

I will soon be re-working Page 4 to replace the Animals/Familiars area with a large notes area.

Sageasa5 wrote:

I do see benefit to this, but I think it is going to take me some time to get around to doing it. I will keep it on the "chalkboard" though.

That was just a list of what I used to test to make sure it was working. 5 levels of any class, with 1 rank of stealth alloted at each level should do the trick.

If you qualify for additional languages, each applicable box should turn yellow, and when you click on it, it will have a "pull down" option where you can select "1". Alternatively, you can just type "1" in the yellow box.

Shem wrote:

If you are able to upload it to a place I can download it (i.e. Google Docs), I can take a look at it. I've run a few tests and Shadowdancer does appear to be working for me.

Shem wrote:

Oh My!

It appears every single class spell list is missing formulas in about 15 rows... which is where most of the R's appear. I'm not even sure how this is possible, but I'm fixing it right now. Thanks for noticing this.

Sure, that's a quick fix I will include for next revision.

Until I just did a Google, I did not know what E6 was. I do like the E6 system, especially since I dislike high-level campaigns. I am very behind in getting all Pathfinder info in the sheet though, so I am limited in allowing variations. I did hope to make the sheet a lot more customizable than it is, but sadly time is not on my side.

He he, yeah I always feel like I am trying to swim against the current when I work on this sheet. I really wanted the sheet to stay current and include all crunch from all of Paizo's books. They are just creating so much of it now, and my limited time demands don't seem to coincide with their release schedule. This project was so much easier to work on before I got married :)

LOL, Thanks that cracked me up. Who knows what happens sometimes.

I still can't make a Shadowdancer. I have no clue what I did wrong.

Everything seems to be right... Oh well...

Is there a way to override it?

Yes, I do not see how someone could keep up with Paizo building a sheet. Thank you for all your work. Let me know when the spells are fixed and I will try again with a fresh sheet.

Hey, a big thanks for that! That can go a long way to making a lot of stuff available for E6... its a lower priority than everything else so I appreciate it being bumped up.

I just wish there was a way to work out (and I strongly suspect its WAAAAAAAAAAAY too much trouble) to work out how to give level 7/8 class feats to characters without increasing levels or spells or AB etc... but thats a pipe dream for the moment and I am overjoyed to get another step closer to that day. Thanks again.

Okay, so now I am really embarrassed...

When I took one of the feats I clicked Combat Expertise instead of Combat Reflexes and whenever I checked it I just did not notice the difference.

Thank you for your patience with my incompetence.

I am really bored at work very often, so I am just making some characters for fun.

Found some errors.

Traits: Threatening Defender, does not apply this "bonus" on the arms page, couldn't find it anywhere else.

Weight: Special materials will reduce the weight of items, but the character sheet uses the unadjusted weights for display and to determine your encumbrance. (Example Darkwoord longbow and mithral chain shirt should way 14 pounds together, but display on character sheet as 26 pounds. Don't know why it's 26 instead of 28, but it's not 14 which is what's right. :)
The correct weight is displayed in the Arms Tab however.

Also, a Duelist i built got kinda messed up regarding his AC, but i don't know if it was his Duelist bonus to AC or Combat Expertise's bonus. It displayed all the bonuses correctly (though it lumped some untyped as Dodge bonus, which is fine)but then displayed "-3 penalty" in the AC summary of the Character sheet.

I'll keep sending them as I find them.

Grand Lodge

I think I found a few errors in the trait selection - Wealthy Dabbler... it loads the two fields but doesnt allow any selection - nor does the spell list page.

Additionally the trait 'Fanatic' does not seem to be available (Taldor, Echoes of Glory)... but then again there may be a few traits that have not been added from other sources as well as you update with APG stuff.

Kor

Just to let you know I have been using this sheet for my Legacy of Fire Campaign and it is such a time saver. I cannot thank you enough for all the effort you have put in.

Something has come up that I did not notice at first.

Now that we are a few sessions in, the PCs have picked up lots of loot and a couple are now on Medium Encumberance (something we tend not to get during the creation process).

The ACP and Max Dex penalties for Medium (or Heavy) encumberance (from Table 7-5, p171 of the Core rules) are not figuring. I popped the bonnet of the sheet to see if it was a typo somewhere, but I cannot find any reference to them anywhere (perhaps my Excel Fu is not good enough).

I have created a simple work around using a tally of the Load values shown in cells E389 to E389 on the Stat_DATA page, a couple of new definitions and two tweaks elsewhere, but I thought I would not waste time posting it in case you have already put this in somewhere.

Cheers

Alan

Although I do have all of that working correctly, I just noticed that I left the "Allow equipment weight to affect encumbrance" option unchecked on the Option page.

I checked it and ran a few scenarios, and movement does appear to be calculating correctly. Please let me know if you did have this "toggle" checked and still noticed a problem, or if you are noticing any other errors with this.

Thanks.

Well, happy to hear you got it working at least :)

Kor

I have been playing with the sheet (with the include Enc option ticked). It calculates the speed and maximum run speed fine.

What I cannot get it to do is to apply the load penalties to skill checks and Max Dex for medium and heavy loads. What am I doing wrong?

I have also noticed that the Sacred Conduit trait is not adding 1 to the save DC of the Channel power.

Finally something came up about weapons (I could not really post without mentioning them could I?) Possibly more of a rules interpretation than a bug. Should a small warhammer become a light weapon for the purposes of two weapon fighting calculations? Paizo have kindly dropped one into the first Legacy of Fire adventure and working out how it works causes my player's brains to bleed. I think it should be considered light, but I may be getting the rules wrong (again)? Anyway, I could not work out a way of forcing a weapon to become light. Is there currently a way?

Cheers

Alan

Ahh okay. My formula was missing the load adjustment part when calculating ACP. All fixed.

I think it does work that way, where a weapon is 2 sizes less than you is considered a light weapon. I will scan through the rules though to see if I can confirm that before I make the needed changes.

The arms sheet does not allow for attaching a "light" category to the weapon, however the custom weapon does. I should probably change this too, but its a pretty complicated change so it will have to go on my "to do" list.

Thanks again for finding all these.

i just down loaded this....i noticed no magus :< :< :<

but i was dabbling with it by making an eldritch knight.

i dont seem to see anywhere for picking prefered class bonuses, or traits.

the equipment/weapons/spells dont work but when you get it all finished... you could sell this.

Nope, no Magus for awhile. Still working on all APG content.

Favored class bonuses are selected on the Levels page (right next to Hit Points)

All equipment, weapons and spells are working though. The Arms page is a little tricky as you first have to select the equipment on the Items page. Once you do that, then the applicable selections will be available on the Arms page.

Spells are working good though right now (and even better after a patch I hope to have out today). If you are a Wizard though, first you have to put spells in the Wizard's spellbook. Once you do this, then they will be available to put into slots.

Traits are fully working too, but to see the traits page, you need to check the Traits Option on the Options page. (I think I may just default these as "on" since a few people have missed that toggle).
