Old / New Gamemaster Needs a Jumpstart

Advice

Dark Archive

I am an old hand at GMing but haven't run a game in years. And about to run a Pathfinder game for the first time ever starting probably the day after X-mas.

I have almost everything to date for Pathfinder, and want to jump start the campaign with a module as I am too busy with Holiday stuff to sit down and do a full adventure from scratch. I am looking for one that I already have that is set in Golarion, is canon, good for starting a Campaign at level 1 and doesn't start the PCs too strangely. More or less a 'classic' feeling module to get the Campaign rolling.

Any advice?

Crypt of the Everflame is a good starting module for 1st level and all the PC's can actually know one another already and be from the small town where the adventure starts.

If the characters and you like you can then continue on to Masks of the Living God which is the second part to the series or you can go your own route after finishing the first module for it gives you options to do both after Crypt of the Everflame. Level 3 module

If you continue on there is actually a 3rd module to the series called City of Golden Death. Level 5 module

That should get you all started in Pathfinder and give you a good feel then you can go from there any number of directions.

The first 2 modules were done by Jason Bulmahn.
The 3rd module is by Joshua Frost

I agree with Not.

That series is a good and easy intro. It has some city adventure mixed in with some dungeon crawling mixed in with wilderness. It is a great source of adventure for many different themes :)

The Falcon's Hollow Saga (starting with Hollow's Last Hope) is great as well, however it is written under 3.5 and requires slight conversion work.

If you're up for converting from 3.5 to Pathfinder, yeah, the Falcon's Hollow adventures are very good. They have a strong "back to basics" feel for people who enjoyed older editions of D&D, and there is enough room for you to make it as RP heavy as you want. Good dungeon craw, good RP oportunity, and a lot of atmosphere if you want to add in horror elements.

Other than that, the first adventure for Rise of the Runelord is another beautifully crafted adventure, with a very "older edition" feel to it. The adventure has a more interesting beginning than "so, you're all in a tavern when suddenly..." without being some strange forced feeling experiment.

The first book from the Kingmaker AP is pretty good too for a jump into the game setting. Granted it's a backwoods area of the world but it is made for the characters to determine the pacing and doesn't need to be rushed through. The beginning is left open as well for whether or not the PCs start off knowing each other. I would recommend it if you don't need the party in a metropolitan area.

Liberty's Edge

Any thing based in the Darkmoon Vail is gold. Falcons hallow stuff is good, if you dont start with that stuff then be sure to come back to it. This is the place I first played Pathfinder and I love it and me and my freinds have gone on to base most of our home brews around here and other places in the contery of Andoran. Most of my socity play characters are from here or factioned to the freedom fihgters. DOWN WITH CHILIAX.
