Judging from the overwhelming answer I'm guessing people don't give a rat's.... which could mean the Avengers team will change again, and again, and again in the foreseeable future... sigh...

You may be right. I started losing interest once Civil War began, as I no longer felt like there was an overarching plot. It seemed as well to be "well, we're on the run" was the only story arc. Well, after a point, I admit my thought was "so what? y'all have been running for several dozen issues now". I'm waiting for the actual story to be something important, not just watching the characters interact. I have no problem with the lineup, but they actually need to DO something, not just rush from one disaster to the next. That got boring ages ago.

Only Avengers I really read is Secret Avengers, and that's for Steve.

Wolverine? le sigh

Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Ms Marvel? i'm fine with all of these.
Ben Grimm? meh, he should stay with the FF, imo.
Spidey? blarg. zero interest after the deal with the devil 'story'.
Doc Strange? wow. he's sinking lower and lower in the marvel world these days.
Squirrel Girl. ... wow. seriously. just wow.

that sums me up on this bunch ;)

Shadow Lodge

Doc Strange - Meh. Never liked him that much. He's Marvel's go-to for Deux Ex Machina.

Luke Cage - One of the few characters that Marvels actually managed to improve over the past decade or so. I like Luke Cage.

Spidey - I've stopped caring about this guy since Brand New Retcon. But he's always been better as a loner. Haven't cared for him as a permanent member of a team ever.

Wolverine - When did Wolverine absorb Multiple Man's powers? There's one of him on pretty much every superhero team in Marvel. GO back to the X-Men where you belong.

Iron Fist, Ms. Marvel - Never cared about these characters enough to have an opinion.

Squirrel Girl - Well, at least the Avengers will be undefeatable.

Ben Grimm - Meh. Why the hell is he here? Go home to the Fantastic Four.

I've pretty much enjoyed it so far. Though isn't Mockingbird also on this team? She shouldn't be, she should be with her husband over on the other Avengers team with the terrible artwork, which also has Thor, Iron Man and...Spidey and Wolverine?

I hate the art on that book. And Spidey and Wolverine have no business being on that team. They fit this team much better.
Squirrel Girl is just the nanny for Cage's kid.
And Doc Strange pretty much has hit rock bottom.

Spidey and Wolverine have been omnipotent beings for the last 20 years so no one should still show surprise at seeing these dudes EVERYWHERE.

Squirrel Girl is basically Jarvis' replacement (yeah, she's the nanny, but I'm getting the feeling we'll see all kind of the indoors "miniquests" with her - save the baby from bad people when avengers are out, cook a nice meal here and there, provide medical services to avengers, etc.) But yeah. Squirrel Girl? WTF? and apparently Wolverine mated with her at some point. What's the result of a union between a squirrel and a wolverine? i thought "hamburger" would be a good answer, but meh.

Doc Strange: he's been depowered so no longer Deus Ex to such a large extent. The Eye of Agamotto is gone so he went from level 25 to level 9 wizard or so...

Luke Cage and Iron Fist... cool imo.

A kid between Wolverine and Squirrel Girl would be invincible and full of berserker rage. So... Honey Badger Boy? That would be kinda awesome.

One scene I always loved was in the early 00's when Cyclops divided the s-men in three teams and everebody was around his desk complaining on the team roosters. Wolvie was saying something like: "I know you trust me slim but I can't be on all the teams". Don't remember the wording for sure, but that really happened. He did stay on all three teams tough and at one point with the storylines were running parallel he was in three places at the same time.

There was a flash animation parody of the X-Men where each of the three teams was fighting something different in a different place. Each segment would end with Wolverine arriving, having just missed all the action while he was with one of the other teams.

Wong is Jarvis' replacement, and he's apparently very protective of the kitchen.

My favorite New Avengers Link

Liberty's Edge

I get the overexposure thing but I sometimes wonder if people don't hate Wolverine just to try to be different >_>

Maybe I'm just defensive for the ol' canuckle head but he's been my favorite marvel character since I first met him way back, and he'll continue to be so now. Anything he's in makes it better for me ^_^. Him and spidey together just makes a perfect team on their own. To be honest, I'd be happy with just the two of them on their OWN team with their back and forths they've had. Such good moments. Course Deadpool and Wolverine works too.

I actually love this New Avengers, and I've liked it for a while.

I think the best way to really enjoy this current run is to start with either Secret Invasion tie-ins, which leads everyone to Cap's Apartment, then the next important story (for the current arcs) would be the Search for the New Sorcerer Supreme (which was really good), read the short-lived Doctor Voodoo, then read the Heroic Age New Avengers.

Yes, Stephen Strange is hitting bottom, and his friends are there for him. I love the new art work associated with magic, and I hope to see New Avengers become the leader for these kinds of stories.

I've also enjoyed the "saga of Parker Robbins" which spreads out from the Search for the New Sorcerer Supreme (New Avengers) to Seige, and now to the Avengers. I wasn't a big fan of the art direction of Avengers, but the first two stories seem to be solid. Plus... The Infinity Gems are being gathered!

Since ragging on Wolverine (or Drizzt, Elminster, whomever) is pretty much the default position on the internet, that's not so much 'different' as 'solidly in the middle of the pack' or 'the bandwagon.'

You expressing that you actually like the character, when many others are going 'ugh,' is actually 'different,' but that doesn't make it an invalid position. :)

We like what we like. I like control-freak Cyclops. Great power, great responsibility, even more so than Spider-Man, who doesn't have to worry about an ill-timed blink of an eye blowing up a building and killing thousands.

My issue isn't with Logan (80's and 90's Wolverine) but with 'Wolverine bloat.' In many ways he's not the same character.

James Howlett isn't the same character. He has a full past (too full) and like most magic tricks, when you remove the mystery, the trick isn't as cool.

In addition to the 'on every team, when does he sleep?' character concept, James has been stuffed backwards into history. When we got Claremont's Cap/Wolverine/Widow tale in X-men, it was clear that Cap didn't recognize Logan because he wasn't the Wolverine we know. No adamantium, no claws (I don't know if the claws were natural or implants at that point in the charcter's history of retcons) and the way Claremont wrote it, it wasn't clear if he had them, or wasn't using them. Now we have Wolverine having history with Nuke, Winter Soldier/James Barns, etc etc.

He's just not as fun anymore.

(Aside, why are they billing Namor as 'the first mutant'? I mean in his history he'd never been called a mutant, and Wolverine, Apocalypse, Destiny, Mystique etc are all older in the universe. Curse Marketing...)

I don't mind characters with long history. Logan's flashbacks (prior to House of M) hinted at him being at least 100 years old, but Mystique was also hinted to be as old, as was Destiny. Her name *is* Irene Adler after all. But like thinking you see where the magician's assistant went to, the flashbacks made the mystery more intriguing, rather than revealing it.

It's like with Peter "With great power must come great responsibility" Parker outing his identity and selling his marriage to the devil. He's not the same character because he betrayed his core.

I only read Secret Avengers, and that's primarily because of Steve Rogers now finding he has to walk the same line he often had issues with Nick Fury doing.
