As a little experiment, mainly that the archetypes where made to balance with the restrictions they have, just how imbalanced would it be if one could pick whatever class ability they wished? Anything obvious come to mind?

Full spellcasting and an animal companion.

Wait a second....

A cavalier with a full eidolon. Order of the Sword anyone?

Death attack. Its all you need.

Sovereign Court

We actually ran a reasonably successful campaign where you earned points instead of abilities and then bought things for a set amount of points.

Of course nailing down that amount was pretty difficult....

Think by the end I had full arcane and divine casting and lots of feats and things, as did everyone else. Never thought to take Death Attack....

I actually did a full campaign setting based around this. The published work should be coming out sometime next month.

I always wanted a martial class that could combine rage with flurry of blows...

Mmm...angry bludgeoning...

RPG Superstar 2015 Top 8

Armor Training. I'm serious.

Perhaps not the most powerful ability, but being able to move full speed in medium and heavy armor AND get a boosted max dex bonus and reduced ACP? Sign me up. It's a subtle thing, but can be put to good use.

Combine it with rogue abilities and skills, or arcane duelist abilities...

One of the things I hate most about the APG fighter archetypes is that for a number of them (not all), I don't consider the abilities you get a fair tradeoff for Armor Training, and most of the archetypes make you lose it.
