Jim Steinman wrote the soundtrack to my teen age years... lol

Bonnie Tyler - Total Eclipse of the Heart

It's about a vampire! Plus, like a lot of people, anything written by Jim Steinman.

Not to mention the cover by Sewing With Nancie...

That album's a masterpiece!

You are correct sir.

I love that song.

Even alt-country singers love Meat Loaf.

I'm legitimately afraid to click that link I don't even know what alt-country is.

The last of the good country music, forced underground by the "Nashville studio" sound. Those who dared not follow in the footsteps of Garth Brooks, Shania Twain, Toby Keith, and Billy Ray Cyrus, and instead trod the path of Johnny Cash, Jerry Jeff Walker, Willie Nelson, Slaid Cleaves, and Mike Ness.

Oh ok I will check it out then.

A few examples:

Slaid Cleaves - "Broke Down"
Austin Lucas - "Go West"
Mike Ness - "Ball And Chain"
Jerry Jeff Walker - "Pickup Truck Song (live)"
Hank Williams III - "Cocaine Blues" (Johnny Cash cover)
Gin Blossoms - "Cheatin'"
Robert Earl Keen - "Merry Christmas With The Family"

Heck, even I've dabbled in it a bit.

(note: none of these are guilty pleasure; I honestly love all of this stuff)

Yesterday (the day before?) I heard this song both on my way to the grocery store and on my way back from the grocery store (different stations) and I kept it on each time:

DJ Khaled - "I'm the One" ft. Justin Bieber, Quavo, Chance the Rapper, Lil Wayne

As a veteran Swedish music critic once said, "oh, so alt-country is country that sounds like country."

The Exchange

And now I've found a guilty pleasure. It's technilly not mine, but as I found out, it is the guilty pleasure of a lot of metal fans here in Germany. And my little son loves that thing, so I have to play it all the time. And even if you don't speak german, you might get the gist of it by watching the video.

I'm rather fond of Taylor Swift's "Shake it Off" and "Blank Space" because they remind me of one of my favorite PCs, whose rocky relationships became legendary cautionary tales in our BtVS/Angel campaign. If the game has not ended before those songs were released, one of them may have supplanted Meredith Brooks' "B-tch" as Trick's personal anthem.

The majority of my friends don't like the pop country stuff. I like to listen to Blake Shelton's Honey Bee because it makes me feel giddy and happy.

Ruining my hipster cred, part II:

I still love Breaking Benjamin.

I eagerly await the day when the early/mid-'00s hard rock that wasn't garbage becomes retro-cool. As much as I hate to admit it, the influence even shows up in my own music from time to time.

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Lost Omens, Starfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Ordinarily, my musical pleasures aren't guilty.

I like what I like, dammit!

Except for this song. This terrible, terrible song. Which I love.

I listen to whatever, I don't give a damn.

I tell people the same thing about my radio show, and they never believe me. The line I keep getting is, "People say they listen to everything, but they don't listen to rap or country." Those exact words.

So, for tomorrow's show, I'm playing Hank Williams III, Johnny Cash, Jerry Jeff Walker, Ali Jezz, and 3rd Bass. How's that.

3rd Bass? I don't know.

"Safety Dance" by Men Without Hats.
