Hope it's not too late to post my interest. I have in mind a character who would be a cleric of Abadar. He's fascinated by the idea of a dungeon as a draw for tourism or settlement, and is exploring Dragon's Delve to learn about it's success as a dungeon, both in supporting monster life inside and supporting the settlement outside. He's involved with a group that would like to find or create a similar dungeon, to develop a settlement around it. I would like the GM's approval to choose Knowledge as an inclinational domain (I figure someone with knowledge skills would be useful to research entrepreneurial endeavors, so I wouldn't think it would be too much a stretch).
I'm more enamored by the motivation than the class, but I thought it would be a good opportunity to play a cleric. Unfortunately, none of the deities with the Knowledge domain really fit that capitalist commitment. But if including the Knowledge domain is too much a stretch, I could make him an archivist bard or a wizard, instead (just not as comfortable with those classes). Or if there's a way for any other classes to get most of the knowledge skills that I don't know about.

My last post was made with the intention of closing up shop on new entries as I was planning on making my final selection for characters tonight. Let me ask you some questions to try and get a better feel for your concept and you can be put into consideration.

You seek to bring tourists and create a settlement around this idea, will the dungeon you develop be dangerous or something people can be led through for coin?
If its the latter, do you have plans to build it here, using the delve's fame to draw people to your attraction, or do you mean for it to stand on its own right?
Can you give me a better idea about this mysterious group he works for?

So the theory of the investment group (not intended to sound mysterious, just hadn't decided if my character would be part of it, or just working for it, or if it's his own idea) is that they could buy some cheap land that would include a cavern that could support a dungeon like Dragon's Delve, and they would build the supply shop, the tavern, etc, where the adventurers would spend their loot.
At this point, it's very much in the exploratory phase. My character would basically be doing a feasibility study. Some questions he'd like to answer:
What kinds of monsters are there?
How diverse is the population?
Does the dungeon have specific characteristics that attract monsters to live there?
Are there hidden entrances that monsters use to enter the dungeon?
Does the population of the dungeon fluctuate?
How large is the dungeon?
Is it all natural, or is some of it man-made or monster-made?
Do the rumored riches exist?
If so, where do they come from? Ancient civilizations, hidden mines, or are adventurers just recovering gold stolen from Brindenford in the first place?
What kind of security is needed in the town/area to ensure that the dungeon residents pose the least threat to human settlements nearby?
How much of the economy is dependent on adventurers? Could a community prosper with just the dungeon/adventurer resource?
Overall, is it likely that the conditions that make Dragon's Delve attractive to monsters can already be naturally present in other undiscovered locations, or can they be replicated at a reasonable expense?
If it seems feasible to proceed, the next step would be finding the land to purchase, but I'd imagine that would take place after this adventure has run its course.

'Stones' has been sent from the Augustana temple to aid the development of the church in the mostly 'wild' River Kingdoms. An experienced and young Hospitaler is in most need in these fledgling communities, both to aid the populace with healing and protection, but also to prove ones sacrifice by clearing the wild lands and helping them become developed.
The church in Brindenford had requested help from more affluent diocese of the Inner Sea, and 'Stones' had just come of age to work on that endeavor.
If possible, I would like him to have traveled here with his brother, who will stay in the church, helping the locals within the town. Long-term goal will be that his brother will become a 'back-story' cohort when the characters gain enough experience.

Tarlene,Jamie brought up a good point I forgot to ask myself? If this does not make a difference to you, I would like to have a very basic idea of what the typical monsters be in the early levels? I only ask in order to choose a suitable favored enemy and not something like lycanthropes and we never even see one. I will roll for knowledge check if need be and to be honest it might be more fun that way. I am leaning toward goblinoid for the first choice because who really dislikes the small folk as much as the races that fall under goblinoid.

Human would also likely work as a first choice since, presumably, most slavers are humans.

Alright, making this decision was quite a challenge because I really didn't have anything among the entries that would rule people out, so instead I had to really look for details that would put people in and even so I got quite stuck trying to whittle things below six, I've finally decided I'm going to run that many. All of you had really great characters and if we lose someone at anyone at some point I'd be happy to have any of them take up a spot in the game.

As a side note, to give an idea of how much trouble I had ruling people out, I genuinely was giving thought to running two seperate games in the delve but finally decided that it would be far too confusing maintaining two different continuities in the same location at once. I even really considered putting both groups in the same continuinity and letting their actions affect each other the dungeon can certainly support multiple groups exploring it at once, but for as cool as that sounded to me, I could come up with way too many problems for it starting with groups passing time at different rates.
Now that everyone knows who is in we can get to the mechanical part of character creations. I'll have an IC threat created in a relatively short period of time(tonight) so people can begin to introduce their characters and get to know some of the local NPCs, that way as soon as everyone is fully built and people have grouped up and are ready to go we can set off to adventure.

To answer the above question about the type of creatures you are going to face, the dungeon does a very good job of mixing it up to cover really all the types in various doses, though as would be expected you are going to encounter far less outsiders or dragons and other creatures that are primarily considered 'higher power' at low levels.
The various humanoids are all particularly good choices for the lower levels and undead is something that you can encounter through all level ranges.
And just to tease a bit, you could in fact encounter a lycanthrope -very- early on depending on your actions.

I can see the difficulties with that, especially in a PBP game..but it is an awesome idea.
