Ok, I got your attention. Now, I am stuck on figuring out what to do with the Triad in Pathfinder. I was thinking of making it somehow related to the main storyline, but JJ points out in the boxed section of the HC, that they seem to be somewhat of a red herring. Then I thought of making them worshippers of another Demon lords, say Orcus, Shax and Dagon, but have no idea what their motivation could be...the Triad has a spelled out, if impossible, direction. My players already had dealings with the Triad in Age of Worms and Savage Tide...

Thooughts, Ideas...

If you ran them through age of worms, then everything regarding teh ebon tried is already revealed. You should scrap that, and go with plan B. The demon lord trinity is workable, or you could go Daemon instead. (NE) Make them some kind of apocalypse cult or some such.

Scarab Sages

I ran the through AoW and ST using Glorantha. Here I am using Golarion. An apocolypse cult is interesting..I'll have to research the PF Gods, Demons and such to see if one fits.

The Ebon Triad storyline is pretty much self-contained in Age of Worms. If you wanted to transfer them into Golarion, I would probably have the three component deities be Norgorber, Zon-Kuthon, and Urgathoa, though.

Scarab Sages

Hmmm..I have an idea...the Archdaemons are listed here

http://pathfinder.wikia.com/wiki/Portal:Religion

They basically seem to be the 4 horsemen of the Apocolypse. Perhaps I will add a 4th member, 1 for each of them, and disperse him in like chapter 7 or 8. That would give one in chapter 3, one in chapter5, one in chapter?? and one in chapter 10...

Whaddaya think?

Scarab Sages

Yes James, but they appear to play a part in SCAP as well...I realize it is a small part, but I don't really want to use them, I wanted a substitue, or a change, since the same group dealt with them in Greyhawk twice..

BTW...I love the PF Ap's but wish y'all could compile AoW and STAP into boxed sets or hardcovers...We had such a great time in AoW..it was one of my favorite campaigns to run...

Thanks for your answer, and all the hard work y'all put in to make us gamers happy!!

You don't want the EB, or you don't want the Ebon Triad name to appear?

Sovereign Court

I've been thinking about making the ET an offshoot of the Whispering Way.

Scarab Sages

I think I don't want to call them the Ebon Triad, becasue of consistancy sake..They were a large part in AoW and I incorporated them in STAP as well, so my players really, really hated them at the end. It just seems hinkey if I use the same group in Golarion...

I'll look at the Whispering Way..I am not familiar with it. This is the first time I have run using Golarion...I have played Society and RotRL games, but since SCAP is one of my favorites, I want to make it as memorable as the year and a half that they were on the trail of Kyuss...

I think I plan to incorporate alot of Delvesdeep stuff, kinda based on how my players react..

Scarab Sages

Ok...so I found this link on the Whispering Way...seems to be a philosophy of Necromancy...Which could fit into the game, if they worshipped and followed the teachings of the Lichfiend Dark myrkul...interesting...I'll have to think on this..I think I like it more than the ArchDaemon idea,,, it provides a tertiary bad group beyon the Cagewrights and Adimarchus..It makes for a cult of Dark Myrkul woorshippers...Perhaps they could learn of the predicament of Adimarchus, and about the capture of nidiana through the writings of this group..

Any thoughts guys? Here is the link

I further advanced my question on the Campaign setting board here.\

http://paizo.com/paizo/messageboards/paizoPublishing/pathfinder/campaignSet ting/general/questionRegardingWhisperingWayUrgathoaAndOrcus

I do not know why I am not getting links or spoiler tabs on this darn computer...DO NOT READ THAT IF SPOILERS BOTHER YOU!!! It's nothing big.

I was just wondering about a connection between the Whispering way/Tyrant, Urgathoa and Orcus...

I am currently working on that in a nuts and bolts sense as well.....for PF

What I have....(original)
-Ebon Triad symbol, Tongueater's unholy symbol
A triangle of wood, painted black and with tiny shapes carved into each point: A hand gripping an eyeball, 6 arrows in an X-shape, and a wrathful demonic face.
A DC 10 knowledge (religion) check is enough to identify these smaller shapes as the unholy symbols of Vecna, Hextor and Erthnul.
A DC 25 knowledge (religion) check this is the Ebon triad a group of heretics from these three churches who seek to merge their three malign deities into one powerful Overdeity.

Any ideas?

In our Age of Worms game, the GM is using Zon-Kuthon (=Hextor), Norgorber (=Vecna) and Rovagug (=Erythnul), I believe.

Thanks Hogarth!

So my update looks more like this.....

Ebon Triad symbol, Tongueater’s unholy symbol
A triangle of wood, painted black and with tiny shapes carved into each point: A skull with spiked chains coming from the eyesockets, a black mask with a silver star for it’s right eye, and a gapping toothed maw with spiders legs around it.
A DC 10 knowledge (religion) check is enough to identify these smaller shapes as the unholy symbols of Zon-Kuthon, Norgorber and Rovagug.
A DC 25 knowledge (religion) check this is the Ebon triad a group of heretics from these three churches who seek to merge their three malign deities into one powerful Overdeity.

PBP is alot of work for the DM when the material is not Pdf.....
....yes I love what Rpg genius has done, but there is more to do!

Scarab Sages

Well Kender, those gods do not exist in the PF cosmology, and neither doess Grazz't, so I was looking to change it.

My PC's fought the Triad in Age of Worms as well, but I want to make this consistant with Golarion, so i asked on the other post about the connection, if any between Orcus (Demon Lord of Undeath) Urgatoa (goddess of Undeath) The Whispering way(Cult venerating Undead) the Whispering Tyrant (Uber badass of Undead). \

My thought process is this, if there is a connection

The Ebon Triad actually followers of the Whispering Way, trying to becaome Liches. They venerate Orcus, The Tyrant and Urgathoa.

Orcus replaces Grazz't as Adimarchus chief enemy. I think this fits with Myrakul being the jailer, because he is an uber-powerful Lichfiend. So Myrakul could be on par, or slightly below Tar Baphon in the heirarchy of the Way...

I think this will also link SCAP with the new AP, which I want to run as well (carrion Crown)

My PC's hate dealing with Undead, and that makes for some good tension...What good is roleplaying if you walk through everything..overcoming massive challenges, and confronting that which you hate the most makes for the best times...

Thanks guys!!

I have slightly different goals in trying to use gods that are available on the SRD, rather than just within Golarion....

I see where you are going though and I like it! ;)

Then you might want to change Adimarchus' backstory a bit, at least with respect to Athux. I find it hard to believe that Orcus would have orchestrated such a complicated seduction plot to get at Adimarchus - as opposed to Graz'zt, for whom seduction is a very common technique.

On the other hand, who is Nocticula's male counter-part? (I'm currently AFB.) He might do as a stand-in for Graz'zt. Particularly as Nocticula = Malcanthet when comparing PF and 3.5.

On the other (third?) hand, if you don't foresee your players' characters finding out the gory details of Adimarchus' back-story, then an Orcus-for-Graz'zt substitution will go unnoticed.

Scarab Sages

Ahhh my paesan, you have pointed out my tragic flaw...you are correct, that Orcus could not orchestrate this. So, let's cut out Orcus..Could the Whispering Tyrant and his agents orchestrate it? Myrakul could be a paragon of the Whispering way. Say Adimarchus was always fighting against the machinations of the Whispering way (henceforth shortened to WW)The question, since I know next to nothing about them, and they aren't due to really be outlined until Carrion Crown, would this be stepping on any toes?

I do plan on releasing the background via Delvesdeep dreams to a player who is a Teifling, his mind will be more receptive.

Thanks for poitning that out Bellona..If not orcus or WW, then maybe Uragathoa? Does WW have any connection to Uragathoa? Hmm....
