(Open Casting Call) From The Ashes: Kingmaker Reborn

Gamer Connection

Well we've lost another one. That makes two Dwarven Clerics and a Half elf Druid who have come and gone (the group just can't keep a healer to save their lives (pun intended)).
So that being said we currently have an opening for one player in my Kingmaker campaign.
The in-game thread can be found: Here
The group is desperately in need of some type of healer (Cleric, Druid, Oracle, Witch, etc...) and those characters will be given first consideration.

Here's the ground rules:
-1st level
-20 point buy
-Standard Core races only
-Max hit points and gold
-Core and APG classes and Archetypes welcome
-2 traits (1 from the Kingmaker Players Guide + any PFS legal trait)
-3.5 welcome with prior approval

If you want to make up a full-blown character go ahead and knock your socks off BUT all I'm looking for right now is a concept and your motivation for exploring the Stolen Lands.

I'm going to hold the application process open until 6:00 pm CST Friday, November 12th and will make a decision at that time.

Thank you for your consideration and Good Luck,
V

Er, exactly how much of a concept would you like? Gnome Oracle of Nature, who is exploring the Stolen lands to preserve the balance between civilization and wilderness, or something more detailed?

As a side note, I've been toying with the idea of running Kingmaker, but would prefer to play it on the other side, first.

Vanulf, FYI "samerandomhero" expressed interest in the discussion thread. I advised him to post here too.

I present Gregory Leichardt, Human Druid 1 for consideration.

Appearance:

Gregory is tall and lean, with long, spiky brown hair, and a flowing beard that almost seems to be made from twigs. Although nominally human, the slight points to his ears and the subtle prominence of his cheek bones hint at a distant Elven ancestor. That aside, his skin is quite tanned, and he is usually surrounded by a faint earthy aroma. He has a deep, resonant voice, and a thick, back-country accent. His constant companion is a young thylacine named Kara, who is never far from his side.

Background:

Gregory Leichardt comes from a long line of fiercely independent hill-folk. His family were devout followers of Erathis, who disdained the ‘creature-comforts’ of modern civilization, preferring a simpler, more self-sufficient existence.

They lived on the border of the area that would come to be known as the ‘Stolen Lands’ for generations, having only limited contact with the outside world. However, when Gregory’s grandfather was but a boy, the family was driven from the region by the steady increase in bandit activity, and the sudden surge in attacks by fey and monstrous creatures.

Forced to relocate, the family nonetheless never forgot the land that had been theirs, and the dream of reclaiming it was passed from father to son; one way or another, each generation vowed to eventually return home…

Although not physically intimidating, Gregory is a consummate survivor; he can read the land, unerringly charting his way through trackless forest, foraging as he goes. He owes these talents to the traditions of his family; even when he was a young boy, his father would take him on long hikes, physically toughening him, and imparting his knowledge of the land, its plants, and its animals. He pointed out hazards, and how to avoid them; he showed the wonders, and the terrors, of the natural world, whether it was watching a swallow dart and weave across an open meadow, or a mountain lion consume its elk prey. He taught wisdom, patience, and the ability to avoid dangerous situations. In doing so, he kindled a great love and respect for nature in his son’s heart.

On these long walks, he also spoke of the doctrines of Erathis, and how progress is not always better; he talked of the decadence of the soft city-dwellers, and the destruction of the natural world that they caused – a simpler life, lived close to nature, could still be an immensely happy, healthy one. As he grew-up, Gregory took his father’s counsel to heart, developing a strong bond with the wilds of Brevory, and in particular, a strong affinity for the marsupial lions (thylacines) of the region.

Only a few years after he reached his majority, Gregory heard from a passing trader of the push to reclaim the ‘Stolen Lands’, something which struck a chord in his heart; he saw it as an opportunity sent by Erastil himself, one that would finally allow him to attain the dream of his father and grandfather, and reclaim his family’s ancestral land. Stopping only to obtain his father’s blessing, and to grab a young stallion that he had been training, he headed for the nearest recruiting station…

The rest of his stats are available via the character page :-)

dotting for interest.

i'd like to join. but i haven't decided what i want to play yet. but then i did post requests for other pbps too. so it really doesn't matter.

i wouldn't mind playing a really sickly human noble support bard. led to the stolen lands by rumors of a potential cure for her perpetual illness. though i hope we come to an agreement that you won't deliberately target her for having a 7 constitution.

You can be as succinct or as verbose as you want to be, i'm just trying to get a feel for what makes your character tick.

I'm going to be travelling to my In-laws this weekend and will likely be in the car when the deadline passes, so I'm going to extend the deadline until 12:00 pm Saturday the 13th.
Keep the submissions coming.

I will throw in my hat on this one.
Morzane
CN Half-orc male Witch 1
Campaign trait: brigand
Other trait: resilient
Familiar: raven named "Bones"
Patron: Plague
Hex: Healer

Morzane has grown up in the wilderness of the River Kingdoms. At an early age he was abandoned in the woods by his mother for his mixed heritage. Fending for himself, Morzane mistakenly walked into a rotten glade. Within the glade, he slept with terrible dreams. Upon waking Bones was sitting on his chest. Since that day, Morzane has been learning of the strange powers of the glade from Bones.

Morzane and Bones eventually found themselves assisting brigands. Everything was well for a while; however, he awoke one day to find forest creatures killing everyone in the camp. Morzane fled at Bones suggestion. He has now come to the northern River Kingdoms to continue his studies and make a place for himself. He no longer trusts the woods and wishes to see them tamed.

Here's more of a background, then.

Glimzig Berenfoodle:

Campaign Trait: Noble Born (Childhood friend of House Medvyed)
Gnome Racial Trait: Animal Friend
First Oracular Mystery: Bonded Mount
Oracular Curse: Lame

As a young gnome, Glimzig Berenfoodle was injured by a poorly thrown cold iron dagger. He and his parents had been traveling with other pilgrims to a shrine of Erastil when bandits attacked the group. Two families, including the Berenfoodles, made a stand in front of the shrine to protect it from desecration, while the other pilgrims scattered to find help. Not skilled combatants, the Berenfoodles were all wounded, and their blood mingled with the blood of the other defenders.

At the worst of the fighting, as the pilgrims were overcome, a pack of wolves entered the fray, some circling and keeping the bandits at bay, others dragging the wounded into the shrine and guarding them. One young wolf pup managed to drag Glimzig and another human child into a dark corner to hide them. When help came, including the cleric who tended the shrine, they found the place a mess of blood and fur.

The bandits driven off, the cleric set about to healing the wounded, but found that the wound in Glimzig's leg defied his powers. As a well-armed and well-dressed party entered the shrine in sharp formation, he announced that this wound had been touched by the divine, to add a blessing to a curse. The cleric received his second shock as he recognized the human boy; he was the youngest son of House Medyved.

House Medyved has great respect for the Wilde to begin with. This, added with their bravery and Erastil's blessing on the little gnome (the wolf pup never left Glimzig's side) caused them to take special note and watch over the Berenfoodles. The youngest son wanted them to be adopted into the family, but this was not deemed appropriate. Instead, they formally acknowledged a debt to the family, and arranged for their comfort and security, and education for their son. When the time came for the Charter into the Greenbelt. the Medvyeds put forth Glimzig as their own candidate, confident that his skills would be useful, and that his appreciation for both civilization and the Wilde would help secure the interests of both as the Stolen lands were reclaimed.

I know my opinion doesn't carry much weight, it's Wulfson's decision, but I do like Gregory and Glimzig. Morzane is different, definitely an off-beat concept. Umbriere is a great character ... but we already have a bard in the party, we need a healer.

i am generally available every day except thursdays and saturdays. i have appointments on those 2 particular days. and can guarantee at least a post or few on most days. most healing comes out of ocmbat through wands anyway. and the particular wand i am thinking of is an item bards can use. (wands of cure light wounds). but i don't beleive that kingmaker is very combat heavy from what i heard.

Well, I can certainly guarantee healing :-)

For the record, I have been monitoring the thread - I just assumed that I should not spam it with posts to show I was still around, after I had made my submission :-)

Daily posting will certainly not be an issue...

Thank you for the vote of confidence. If selected, I'll try not to disappoint.

Not a problem - for all of you to know (if you haven't checked out the thread) our current party composition is:

Arianna Tchovski - human rogue
Silstaren - elf ranger
Cale nil Surtova - human fighter
Virgil Longstreet - human bard
Marcus Effington - human wizard

Silver Crusade

Thanks therealthom for pointing me over here. I have been throwing together some ideas but nothing really inspiring. Seems like a fair number of people are interested and have some good ideas. I will pass on this, although it looks like a really cool group. I wish you all the best. And I hope your group does not have to make another recruitment thread for a good while.

Thank you all for the interesting character concepts (and for making my decision all that more difficult). I personally don't like disappointing people who put such thought and effort into their characters but, as they say in Highlander, 'there can be only one'.

So to that end I've decided to go with Wellard and his Dwarven Cleric, Sondergang Wulfsson (Got to love the last name(even if he did misspell it)). Hopefully the third time with a Dwarven Cleric is the charm, otherwise I'll be back here again.

Thank you all and I hope you all find a game for your characters.

Thanks,
V
