OK looking forward to seeing how this plays out. You've been out muscling most of your enemies and hopefully this will be an interesting tactical battle with a clock. Your close to 3rd level and this should put you over depending on how things go.
Now this is exciting! To bad i have crappy nerves and are bad at handling excitment. And so close to lvl3... you wouldn't deprive me from having my first ever lvl3 DnD character, would you Dan E? :)

Dan wrote just before we went into the Demon-fight that we where on the verge off tipping over into lvl3, and i guessed that his "DING!"-comment after Sajan put down the thing was the que for a new level (once/if we make it back to camp and rest).
It will actually be my first lvl3 pathfinder (and DnD if you discount the version of the game that came in a large box, with Zanser Tem as the evil wizard in the intro adventure) character \o/

3rd Level Feat = Desert Dervish: When wielding a scimitar with one hand you can use your Dexterity modifier instead of you Strength modifier on melee attack and damage rolls. You treat the scimitar as a one handed piercing weapon for all feats and class abilities that require such a weapon (such as a duelist's precise strike ability). The scimitar must be for a creature your size. You can not use this feat if you are carrying a weapon or shield in your off hand.

Yes you will level effective from your next rest period. The demon was a CR5 alone and the encounter put you nicely over. I am totting the points up (if a bit roughly) just adjusting as necessary.
Crikey with the hit points! Grall can certainly take a beating.
I have to admit I thought the same thing about Finding Haleen but re-read it and as written can't see anything wrong with taking hp again. If I had started the game from scratch I might have tweaked it (its a full feat rather than half) but its not going to break the game.
Joana wouldn't improved shield bash be strictly better? As soon as you get a +1 on the madu its providing a better AC and it scaled up. Dodge as well as it adds to touch.
Posting may be slow tomorrow.

Great minds think alike? ;)
Hm, I honestly hadn't even thought about Improved Shield Bash. (I rarely run martial characters, so I'm not that familiar with the feat choices.) My initial thought was that TWD would work even if she decided to use a different secondary weapon than a madu, but I don't know how likely that is. It's not like we're going to be running across scads of Small-sized enemies to loot for better stuff (I would presume).

Nope most small sized loot will be placed by me from here tbh.

Had a look and think about this further. Seems its not out line with the developer's expectations.
Traits are intended to reward players for giving a damn about their character's background. So if letting the bonus hp stack with those granted by Favored Class gets a PC to do that... I've got no problem with it! :-)
Besides finding Halleen won't be all gravy and moonbeams and extra hit points and stuff. Muhuhuhaaaaa.
DM Dan E |
All right, it opens up the whole Shield-y chain of feats, whereas TWD is a dead-end. I guess she'll go that way. Numbers ought to stay the same. (Btw, I already updated her profile, but I have her 2nd-level numbers in HeroLab to run her off of until we get a chance to rest.)
I think this is reasonable especially if Nuveril is going to stick with the madu. Two weapon defense really needs a boost I think. Two weapon style isn't going to spend much time fighting defensively so it seems mechanically worse than dodge even ignoring that its not part of a chain and anyone fighting with two weapons in the first place is going to have at least 13 dex to take dodge.

Ha! Looks like someone came back looking for your egg, Sajan! Hope it made a tasty omelet. :)
I loved the fact that you all ate the eggs without the slightest concern where they came from. It seemed very in character for Sajan.
Its probably apparent but this was also the creature the pugs failed to mention.

OOC I was SURE the decision would come back to bite me but Sajan wouldn't think anything of it except a tasty meal. I did give the smarter characters a chance to react as he carries the egg around :)

Yeah, I also thought it was probably not a great idea, but I couldn't come up with a reason for Nuveril to object. Coming from a nomadic tribe, you don't look gift food in the mouth! Seemed an appropriately scavenge-y thing to do.

Just a few points on level 3 builds.
Arjun: CMB hasn't been adjusted for level and dodge.
Linah: Have you gyped yourself a hp again or did you take a skill point for favoured class? I make 24 hp (8 + 5 + 5 + 3 + 3).
Sajan: I'm must be missing something I can't see the +3 feat bonus to grapple unless the weapon focus was grapple?
Grall: No issues but lvl 3 and 49hp, DR1. Damn! :)

Thinking about ponying up for a full license for herolab. Do people recommend it?
I use it to make all my PbP characters. It's great for catching math errors and keeping PCs honest about encumbrance. I haven't used it much for statting up NPCs, as I'm running an AP and not a homebrew now, but I used eTools for NPCs back in 3.5 and HeroLab is a much better character generator.
(Keep in mind that I paid full price for not only the aforementioned eTools, back when it was still supposed to be a full campaign creation suite, but also paid $60 for the 2e Ruleset software which was a total waste of money, so I'm obviously an easy sell.)
DM Dan E |
Your behind wbl but no real shopping opportunities until you finish the chapter which will probably be lvl 4. The magic items aren't allocated particularly well in the ap. I ended up moving some things from the monastery to later sections as otherwise that would have put you way over wbl for lvl 2 but good for lvl 3. There are also some "troves" rather than spreading them out. So things seem stingy and then christmas comes.

Just to confirm that noone has yet tried spellcraft on that halberd.
How is that loot list coming?

The loot list is in progress, since we don't have a chance to spend anything yet I haven't really put much in there other than the first couple of encounters. Once we clear out the city I am sure we will have a lot more stuff :)

I can only echo what Alexander and Joana has said. I'm not totally sold on the user interface, but the functionality is amazing. I can't imagine creating a character without it.

Nuveril wrote:Bite my 14 Wisdom, midget ;).DM Dan E wrote:Well the bad news is that Nuveril was right. What? That's great news for her; she loves being right! Oh, wait, you meant for Sajan. ;) In the land of the 7-Wisdomed men, the 10-Wisdomed halfling is queen.
Whoops, should have said Intelligence. I knew he had 7s in two of the mental stats and didn't go look and see which, although if I'd thought about his feelings on enlightenment, I should have remembered. I guess you could argue whether it's a lack of Wisdom or Intelligence that leads someone to climb up into the dark rafters to attack flying magical beasts.
I've got to admit, though: Sajan gets to hit the thing, while Nuveril's stuck impotent on the ground. Who's the smart one now? ;)
