Organized Play Magical Items

Pathfinder Society

So I decided to read up on how Organized play limits the purchase/acquisition of magical items, and I'd like to make sure I understand it correctly. The items available to a player are pretty much limited to: +1 Weapons, Armor, Shields, and potions, scrolls, oils of level 0-1, and any item that appears on their chronicle sheets. Is that it or did I miss something. I see the mention about your TPA giving you a higher than normal cap on the cost of items you can buy, but that doesn't change the pool you can select items from.

Items that are always available are the +1 Weapons, armor, shields and potions. There is no pre-requisite level or experience, only limitation is the amount of GP you have earned to pay for them.

Chronicle sheets expand the pool of items that you can purchase.

What you missed is the Prestige awards you earn. The PFS guide identifies the items that your Faction will make available for you.
This is a table based on the number of Prestige that you have earned in the various scenarios. As you increase your earned Prestige, the value of items that your Faction will provide you access to increases in value. You still must buy these items with the GP that you have earned.

Sincerely,
Robyn

...the organized play guide? All that table shows is max gold value, nothing else. Is it some -other- guide that tells me faction shoppling lists...?

The TPA table (11-2 page 25) shows the GP limit of magic items outside of the other two mentioned (always available and Chronicle loot) you could by from any other legal source (mainly the Core Rule Book - Chapter 15 and Advanced Player's Guide - Chapter 7).

So for example after you have 9 TPA you can buy any magic item up to 1500 gp which is outside of always available and Chronicle loot. A Pear of Power - 1st level for example is 1000. With 9 TPA you could buy it outright even though it's not always available, nor a level 0 or level 1 potion/scroll/oil. However with only 4 TPA you could not.

Hope that helps.

So any pre-generated item in any PFS legal source, limited by the gold value on that table, is that right?

Everything in the Core Assumption is legal as well as anything explicitly listed in Chapter 13 of the Guide. For example, the Dawnflower Sash (2500 gp) from Gods and Magic would be legal for you to purchase assuming you have at least 13 TPA, 2500 gp and physical proof (book or printed page from your watermarked pdf) of the Gods and Magic book.
