Sorcerer bloodline and wizard school

Hello everyone, i've a problem with an experimented player and some rule, i ask him to built a PC for the serpent'skull campaign, i receive it but i've a question :

1st - he want to take the orc bloodline for his sorcerer class but only the 1st level to have the power : Orc Bloodline : +1/damage dice.

2nd - he want to take the wizard class at 2nd lvl with the evocation school, and be a wizard for the next level till the 20th.

Now is my question does the power of the orc bloodline (sorcerer power) stack with wizard Spell ?

For me i don't think so because it's not the same magic, one is natural and the other one is learned, so the orc bloodline aply to the sorcerous spells not to the wizard spells.

But i need to know what do you think about.

Thanks a lot for all who will answer

Ahh a crunch monkey from the munchkin side of my heart. I haven't seen this orc bloodline anywhere. If it's the favored class option it's a total of +1 to damage, not +1 per die though. And it only applies to fire spells. And he has to invest in at least two sorcerer levels to get it. as it's 1 per 2 levels.

Always always keep to the letter when it comes to those damm spellcasters. :)

Ok. There are a couple of things here. You are talking about the Bloodline Arcana. Maybe it was just me but it seemed like you were talking about the 1st level Bloodline Power.

As to your question, the ability doesn't specify that it is only for sorcerer abilities. Also, I can't seem to find where the ability "Bloodline Arcana" is mechanically explained, if it is at all and isn't just a fluffy name for "Cool Ability X." That said, I know I have seen multiple posts from people who feel like Bloodline or School abilities only apply to the class that grants them.

Personally, I don't see it as horribly overpowering. Your player is slowing his wizard progression by a full level, his sorcerer spells are never going to scale as he isn't advancing his CL for that class and it is a single point of damage per die. The only time this becomes potentially painful is when you crit using a spell that requires an attack roll.

The end answer: if you don't think it is ok, because the ability isn't described explicitly, its up for interpretation. Allow or don't allow as you see fit and also compare the two potentially answers with how powerful/optimized the other players are.

I think that he is weakening himself by doing it. Loosing a caster level is something very big and the return here is not big at all.

If he wants to do it, great. When it looks cool for him, let him shine. Try to avoid pointing out how he would have been better with that level of wizard.. at some point that will become plain.

The Orc Bloodline is from Orcs of Golarion.

The bonus damage is part of Bloodline Arcana (you also get the orc subtype, including darkvision 60 and light sensitivity).

It doesn't state that the damage bonus only counts for sorcerer spells, but in my opinion it would be a valid rules interpretation to say that it only applies to sorcerer magic.

Well,the FAQ states:

The Bloodline Arcana powers apply to all of the spells cast by characters of that bloodline, not just those cast using the sorcerer's spell slots.

I think should be the same for all the Bloodlines.

Well, ok then. I suppose that clears up that particular issue. Thanks for the heads-up Hurin.

Thanks a lot i take the answer for "rule" it's ok

Anything that slows down your spell progression as a full caster is a HUGE disadvantage. He will seem very powerful at first (all those spells!) but when he hits every odd level, and doesn't get a new spell level, he will be kicking himself.
