How does one enter Kaer Maga?

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

I'm running Curse of the Crimson Throne, and we're just about to start History of Ash. The book mentions that going through Kaer Maga is the fastest way to get to the top of the Storval Plateau.

Seeing this as a good spot for a little bit of side trekkin, I went and got the PDF for City of Strangers. It's a great book and I love the city, but from what I've seen so far, the main entrance to the city is the Warrens, which according to the map, looks like its on the wrong side of the city and that the party would need to go around the majority of the wall to get there.

I haven't had too much time to look over the book, could someone tell me if I'm missing something.

There are two ways to get to Kaer Maga; the easy way is to follow the river up the cliff; the quicker, more dangerous and more entertaining way is to go through the halflight path.

As for getting into the city, the halflight comes up in the middle of the city, but if they take the river path there are a few minor doors but the warrens is the primary approach. It shouldn't be a problem though - Kaer Maga isn't that big that it's a problem circling the walls.

Don't even tell them about the river.

Send them up the halflight path, and make sure you read the story of Eando Kline's experience there to help with the flavour.

One does not simply walk into Kaer Maga. It's Halflight Path guarded by more than just Duskwardens. There is evil there that does not sleep. The great Dakar is ever watchful. It is a barren wasteland, riddled with fire, ash, and dust. The very air you breathe is a poisonous fume. Not with ten thousand men could you do this. It is folly.

Todd, that rocks!!!

Liberty's Edge

My players chose option Q. They used the fly spell to ascend the cliff-face. I couldn't find where it listed the height of the storval plateau, so I just went with the flow. After that based on what they saw they entered through the Warrens.

Never underestimate the players ability to go the unexpected route. :)
