Thanks for the update. I was just curious since it has been over a month and no talk on the boards. I really do love the sheets and my whole gaming group uses them.

Liberty's Edge

On the fighter sheet why not just do make slots for weapon & Armour Training. and then a feat slots like the teamwork feat list on the Cavalier sheet or like the spell lists?

And i really like the lycan sheets thank you so much

Nice! That bill is just going be another drain on the governments wallet... opps I mean the american peoples wallets

encountered an interesting difficulty with the Sorceror, Wizard, Cleric sheets.

I have a lot of new players in my group in fact only one other person has played an P&P RPG before.

got any hints on how to work bloodline/school/domain power uses?

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber; Pathfinder Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

The section for the Cleric's domains has been gradually expanding, getting fleshed out over the last year. Incidentally, I've been playing a Cleric for the last year.

But domains follow a fairly standard structure; afaict, bloodlines are much more freeform, almost like archetypes in the things they fiddle with. That makes them harder to account for on the class sheets. The first sheet's "Feats and Special Abilities" section is the de facto place to put miscellaneous bonuses and abilities, along with the various "Conditional Modifiers" and "Notes" sections elsewhere. At some point I may revisit the Sorcerer and Wizard sheets to try and cover the bloodlines and schools a little better, but not until I understand what's really necessary.

If your group is relatively new to RPGs, I suggest avoiding the most complex of the many available class features. I also recommend a series of shorter modules to start with, rather than the six-book epic campaigns, so that people get the chance to try different roles and see how they like them.

Because that wouldn't do anything to help with the big problem Fighters have: the maths. Compared to other characters, a single set of attack and damage roles by a Fighter can involve more dice, more numbers and more things to remember at once. Especially when combined with something like a Rogue with its sneak attacks, or teamwork feats granting flanking bonuses.

Still, the prototype I posted might be overkill - or rather, overly specific. It includes so much there's no room to add extra items of your own, which is bad.

Liberty's Edge

Sadie,

Great sheets. I just found them and I will be passing them on to my players for their characters and using them myself for the DM pages.

Suggestion for the Sorcerer sheet:

Every sorcerer in pathfinder uses a bloodline and each bloodline has a few specific pieces:

Bloodline name, class skill, bonus spells, bonus feats, bloodline arcana and bloodline powers. Of these only the bloodline powers will take up a lot of room and should probably be printed separately.

Why not cut the scrolls/potions/wands area by half (cut the wands to 2, potions to five lines and scrolls to four or five lines), leave the "Bloodline" field first box there for the name of the bloodline, cut the three lines below then use all of that space to make the necessary section for bloodline details (this would include all of the areas I listed above minus the powers). These would just be a "fill in the blank" area and wouldn't need to be check-boxes or anything like that. I am thinking it should be pretty simple and would fill the need for almost all sorcerers.

Again, just a suggestion. In the meantime I am off to print some NPCs! :)

Edit: got a little too wordy.

Wait, you're suggesting a whole separate sheet for each power in addition to the Sorcerer sheet? Or am I reading that wrong?

I've played 4 fighters and really havent found much math that cant be tracked ad-hoc style. the hardest part is keeping track off the feats effects and what weapon trainings you have and what levels you gain said bonuses.

Well, I was suggesting that but now that I look through them the bloodline powers wouldn't take up as much space as I thought. I don't think you'd be able to squeeze them into the current sheet though because some of them are very wordy.

I think it is probably most flexible to let the players manage their bloodline powers on a separate sheet. That way the only parts that would need to be include are spaces for bloodline class skill, bloodline bonus spells, bloodline bonus feats and bloodline arcana.

Maybe you're just smarter than the average fighter? :D

I keep getting stuck trying to divide my THAC0 by zero.

Awesome website and character sheets, btw. :)

No comment... anyway these sheets are always nice to use.

I agree that the draft sheet you posted seems overly specific. To be honest, what I would like to see would be a sheet with the Fighter-specific abilities on the left column (Armor Training, Weapon Training, Bravery, etc.), and have the right side primarily consist of a *whole bunch* of Weapon blocks. Then I can simply fill in my attack and damage modifiers with all the different permutations. For example: Longsword, Longsword using Vital Strike, Longsword using Power Attack, Longsword using Power Attack with Inspire Courage, Vital Striking Power Attacking Longsword w/ Inspire Courage.

I think the math is not that difficult to figure out initially, but it's helpful to have the most common permutations pre-calculated so I don't have to re-figure them each time.

Perhaps it might be useful to have a box somewhere (at the bottom, maybe?) with some lines for "Current bonus modifiers" or the like, where we could write down the spell effects currently modifying our attacks. For example:

Effect..............+Attack.......+Damage
Bless_________+1____________
Insp. Courage__+2_______+2___
Bull's STR______+2_______+2___
*TOTAL*..............+5..............+4

(Sorry if the forum messes up my table, but I think you get the idea.)

Somebody emailed me with an odd request: they needed something to help them keep track of the different stats when playing a Lycanthrope. It's not something that had ever really occurred to me, but if it's useful I don't see why not to include one. Here's the prototype for anybody else:

I'm amazed that you posted this. My DM has recently turned me into a Wererat. THANKS! It looks like this will be a helpful replacement/add-on to my original sheets.

I took a look at your Fighter sheet. I can understand why you added the information you did for the other classes, but they will probably have the seperate class sheets available making the information redundant a third time, (second if they dont transfer the information to the general combat sheet). It is important to note that similar bonuses dont stack, so perhaps the first block you have is "General Weapon Bonuses" Then use the format that Tamago mentions, Bonus Name / +/- Attack / +/- DMG.

The only other thing I could see is just a block where people can input there feats with a short discription of it, this would be for things like Cleave and the sorts. If you wanted to break the boz up a little and not be so "notebook" style, you could add a name box, an "Action Time" box, (for use for feats like Vital Strike, which takes a standard action), and a discription box.

As far as I have ever seen, this is all a fighter really needs, the player mearly needs to take his bonuses, add them together himself, (easy to do since it is only two or three numbers), and add them to his attack modifier on the general sheet. If a fighter has trouble calculationg all of this, then perhaps he needs to look at his build and see if maybe he spread himself out a little to much. and just needs to slim his inventory down a little.

Ok here is an odd request... anyone got sheets for settlements using the Game Mastery Guide rules?

Please & Thank You

Any chance of form-fillable versions? It doesn't need to do math for me, but we have a group that plays online, so having a print out seems a little silly since I'm going to be sitting at my computer anyway. I'd also like to be able to put it on a tablet or similar and save erasing holes in my paper, and so on. I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd find this very useful.

Marking for later reference.

I'm afraid not, at least not from me. Several people have made a start at form-fillable versions of the core sheets (you can find some of them on this thread or on GitP), but never more than the first couple of pages. I haven't been able to herd cats into cooperating on an effort to do the whole set, and it's way more work than I'm willing to bite off myself.

I think the problem is that I'm too perfectionist. I'm not willing to do something like form-fillable sheets unless I can do it properly. That means every page, every field and every tick box, accurate to the millimetre with consistent fonts etc. Most people would be happy to make do with just a usable core.

This is doable without a form fillable PDF. There are various note-taking tools (for whatever your preference in tablet OS) that let you use a picture as a background. You'll probably find though that most tablets aren't high enough resolution to render all the little text properly.

I've always encouraged people interested in this project to look at the open source repository on Google Code, where all the files for this project are available. But in reality not many people have been willing and able to do so - they've found the interface confusing and off-putting. After all, sane people generally aren't programmers, so expecting them to know their way around Subversion is a bit unreasonable.

Git has traditionally been an even more obscure for non-programmers, but Github released a new shiny Windows application yesterday called Github for Windows that's supposed to make the whole thing much easier. There's also a Github for Mac, though i don't believe they have much in common.

Storing Illustrator files and PDFs in version control has always been a slightly odd proposition, but I've lost two hard disks since the start of this project so I'm very glad to have an off-site backup, particularly one with history.

So, a question for programmers and laymen alike: would moving to github and directing people to this program encourage more people to get involved in the project?

In case this is the place to post errors we find:

You have a few typos in the Gunslinger page (page 41) regarding a few deeds.

  • Startling shot shouldn't say "On miss," since it's an automatic miss.
  • Bleeding Wound's 2 point version does 1 point of Str, Dex, or Con damage BLEED.
  • Evasive also grants Improved Uncanny Dodge.
  • Cheat Death makes you reduced to 1 hp rather than restoring an amount based on grit.
  • Stunning Shot costs 2 grit points.

You have some extra space too, so you could put in the DCs for Menacing Shot and Stunning Shot.

  • Grand Lodge

These are really good. I'd love to see a Spell-less Ranger archetype sheet though. It's easy. Just switch out the prepared spells, Spell DCs and the scrolls sections for the rogue's talents, sneak attack, and traps. Can't wait to see a Tome of Secrets Warlock and Knight character sheet.

I hope someone takes these and makes interactive pdfs out of them. Make it easier to work on with a computer.

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber; Pathfinder Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

There are most of the Ranger archetypes on the repository.

If you find that hard to navigate and use, then I refer to the previous question.

Yeah, I'd already gone through all of those. The Spell-less Ranger's very different. Instead of spells they get Ranger talents, much like rogue talents. Hence the suggestion to move things about for that particular class.

As for the question, it'd probably get more people involved, but only those that any clue as to how you'd even go about it. I know I'm not one or else I'd have made my own a long time ago for my players who're toughing it out with what I've been able to find so far.

Where can I find the rules for the Spell-less Ranger? Is it in one of the core books?

Its a 3PP PDF from Open Design.

ok, I have to say it, I love these for high detail sheets, very awesoem work and I'll be using them at least for my showpiece characters. I also like the DM pages with party and nps group listings. Would it be possible to get a pathfinder version of these pages? I'm not much of a code monkey and dont have any of the right software to do any editing myself and it would mostly just be a skill list change. Either way keep up the good work. =)

Ah. I tend not to do third-party stuff for Pathfinder unless the publisher is willing to work with me on it.

    Grand Lodge

Are you going to be looking into making the pdf, form-fillable?

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber; Pathfinder Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Sorry, but I've looked at the possibility and established that making a form-fillable version of the hundreds of pages is such an insanely huge job that even I'm not willing to start it. If you look back over previous pages (and threads on other forums), you'll see that several people have made a start on the first couple of pages, but that barely scratches the surface.

I still have a few hundred archetypes to do, an AMV or two to make, that Scala library to write, a pile of functional programming stuff to learn, an anime society to run... oh yeah, and my day job.

I mean, it's not like anybody's paying me for this... :)

I'm definitely interested in getting more involved. I'm no programmer, and though I've used the basis of your sheets to create some pretty serviceable archetype sheets, I'm not an Illustrator genie.

    So, short, count me interested.

I just checked, and as I thought those pages are included already. They just didn't have bookmarks for them.

I've got a minor update coming out at some point. Are there any fixes or additions people would like?

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber; Pathfinder Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Apparently the game is afoot: Paizo's new entry in the deluxe character sheet market is the PC Folio. I'm personally not that impressed with it. It's much expanded from the basic sheets, but still one-size-fits-all, and with some childishly big labels and boxes. What do people think? Is there anything I could learn, imitate or improve on from the PC Folio?

I don't find the sheet for Character Background on the source repository, do you have the link?

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber; Pathfinder Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

I just checked, and it's in the 3.5 part of the repo. I'll copy it across tonight.

I am going to have to look at github. Either way I am looking at working on/looking for a simple fighter sheet, an intelligent item sheet, and a variant inventory sheet designed for use with the piece-meal armor rule. I have the lay-outs/mock-up just need a way to insert them...

I was just looking at the Party sheet (fantastic idea, and a terrific resource), and I noticed that both it and the timeline sheet say 3.5e on them. Hardly the most important thing (and one might indeed say that it's among the least important things possible), but I thought I'd mention it :)

D'oh. I shall action that as a priority item with utmost alacrity. So probably next month.

I'm really beginning to wish I had AI so I could try playing around with these. It's the sort of tinkering that I really enjoy, but having just looked at the price tag of CS or AI, I'm not sure it's going to be happening any time too soon. :(

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber; Pathfinder Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Yeah, they are pretty damned expensive. There is a month free trial of the CS app. And, erm, ways round it.

Now if you could just add the Super Genius Games/Rite Publishing/Little Red Goblin classes to the list ;-)

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber; Pathfinder Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

I'm more or less committed to finishing off Paizo's archetypes (presumably including the 72 added in the Advanced Race Guide), so third party material is pretty low on the list - unless the companies themselves contact me and we can work together.

Also, people keep asking me for the 3.5 Scout class. It seems to be a fan favourite.

What I would find incredibly helpful is a definitive list of the 3rd-party classes, variants and archetypes that are out there, where each of them is located, and whether their data is available in an SRD somewhere.
