Someone is Killing the Gods...

...But who is it?

Hey all!

Sometime back I ran a game specifically designed to be absolutely over the top, with crazy templated gestalt monsters as the PCs, and they were fighting with 3rd edition rules vs. 1st edition opponents. In the end, they became/were forced to become Gods (Divine Rank 10).

It's been a few years since that game, but I have some open gaming time, and am thinking of returning to the game, with whichever god players who show up playing their deities.

I have a few challenges pre-arranged, but does anyone know of any D20 resources for extra challenges adequate to this level (1K hp, 40HD, DivRk 10 players)?

Even the Epic Level Handbook doesn't have too much that would threaten them at all. Best I've come up with is the Time Dragon from the last issue of Dragon (359).

All suggestions are welcome, but I'm not likely to dip outside the D20 realm.

The Bloodstone Quartet, H1-H4. Especially H4: Throne of Bloodstone

yea have Ao the super duper deity of all deities that nobody has ever heard of before kick them out of their respective plains and make them all 10th lvl mortals until somebody returns some meaningless artifact.
Oh and if they die they can't come back when the quest is over because they died as a mortal and their godhood is passed onto some other slob w/ no qualificatiosn for the job.
See how that works out.

Since you mentioned gods:
Immortals Handbook: Ascension
Goes way beyond stupidly powerful.

Ya gotta get the Epic Bestiary by that fellow! All kinds of clever PC-destroying critters in there, from low-ish CR all the way up to... (wait for it...) monsters with a CR... OVER 9,000 (seriously!)!

It's a bit of a shame that the author never did get any of the other books that were supposed to be a part of that series actually written. Although he also seeming abandoned d20 in favor for 4E before he stopped writing, so I probably wouldn't have been interested anyhow. Still, I do wish he'd complete both the existing books (the text is complete, but there are quite a few "insert artwork here" blank spaces).

Ahh, yes, this is just the sort of thing I need - thanks! (and hopefully the purchase will encourage him to finish up Kthulhu).

More ideas welcome!
