Catching up at work and other games. I'll tackle Vaclav in the morning.

Note to self: 25 point buy, 1 trait to start, average cash

To anyone out there interested, our party psion seems to have bailed, and once more we are looking for a psionic character ...

I would be interested. This link is to a psion/psychic warrior that I was playing in another thread before it died. I would need to update to dreamscarred press.

I thought the book is now being finalized and the playtest is, therefore, essentially over. If the playtest is still ongoing, however, I would be interested in playtesting an Egoist Psion, especially considering the changes to shape changing.

Well it's less of a play-test now and more of a full ongoing game, but the place is there if either of you are interested. We will be upgrading to the final release once it is made and this will act as a play-test of that in the Pathfinder environment for others to reference.

Well, it is tempting. Playtest is generally time-limited, though, and thus easier to commit to than a full game, as there is a definite end point. Although I hope that the discussions many of us have been having on these boards will be reflected in the final product, I was hoping to engage in more direct playtesting than reflecting on the material to help ensure that the final product is ironed out well.

A full game is, in a sense, more exciting than a playtest, but I am aware that play-by-post games can be very time consuming and take a very long time. Hence, I am unable to guarantee that I could persevere for an indefinite period of a full game as various life circumstances may come up (and some are even predictable - exams, holidays...). You already had one Psion bail on you (probably for RL reasons) - could you deal with it if it happened again? ;)

I'm sure we could handle it; if you want to try an egoist it's 25 point buy, one trait (gaining a trait at the end of each module), average starting wealth.

OK, a couple of questions:

1) Are we encouraged to optimize character ability scores or assign them more organically?
2) How did the generalist discussion end (I suggested the need to use a higher level slot for both wizards and psions to use a spell/power that is of a different school/discipline, but did not follow up on what was decided in the end). Essentially, when generalists are available, I usually cannot resist playing them instead of specialists, as I like the flexibility they afford (particularly in longer-term campaigns). I am, therefore, somewhat on the edge of a generalist (the flexibility of also having telepathy and other powers is naturally alluring) and an egoist psion.
3) Is there some sort of list of traits to pick from? I checked the other OOC thread and there are some psionic traits, but you seem to have implied that there are other traits too. Also, is there a psychometabolism related psionic trait (just asking since all other disciplines seemed to have a trait in the psionic ones, so I figured you may have omitted one by mistake)? Also, in the thread, you sometimes mention we should pick two traits and sometimes one trait. I take it in the end you decided it should be one trait, but I just want to confirm this.
4) I have no knowledge of Golarion - is there anything I need to know in particular to play? I have never played/GMed/read any APs (I am not completely sure whether you are running an AP/Golarion, but it seemed to be implied in the OOC discussion) or Golarion materials. Is this an issue?
5) Should I read the gameplay thread to understand what happened so far (and thus save PbP time), or should I simply wait for the others to explain things (the more organic way to do it) if/once the characters meet up?

Also, if that is what you would prefer, another possibility I would be relatively open to would be to simply take over the Psion whose player has left (though that would depend on whether the character's personality would appeal to me), which would make integration into the group seemless and relatively easy without holding up the game.

1) I prefer organic characters myself, but by all means make your character what you want them to be.

2) The details on the Generalist are in the preview as follows:

Spoiler:
Generalist Psion
A psion who chooses to remain more general in his studies of psionics is known as a generalist. While he does not gain the unique abilities each discipline grants to the specialized psions, he is able to broaden his powers and blend them in unique ways.
Discipline Talents (Ps): Choose three powers from the following list: call to mind, catfall, create sound, far hand, hammer, and telepathic lash. As long as you maintain psionic focus, you may manifest either of your chosen powers without paying a power point cost, but the power may not be augmented or affected by metapsionic feats. The competence bonus from call to mind is reduced to +2, the effect of catfall only treats your fall as 20 ft. shorter than it is, the duration of create sound is one round per two psion levels (minimum 1 round), and the damage of hammer is reduced to 1d4.
Bonus Feat: At 2nd level and every five psion levels thereafter, you gain a bonus feat. You must choose a metapsionic feat, an item creation feat, or Expanded Knowledge. You must still meet all prerequisites for the bonus feat, including minimum manifester level requirements. These bonus feats are in addition to the feats that a character of any class gets from advancing levels. You are not limited to the categories of item creation feats, metapsionic feats, or Expanded Knowledge when choosing those feats.
Breach Power Resistance (Su): At 8th level, anytime you manifest a power, you may expend your psionic focus to add your Intelligence modifier on any check to overcome power resistance. This bonus increases by 1 every two psion levels thereafter.
Double Manifest (Ex): At 14th level, once per day, you may manifest two powers with a single action, but the combined power point cost cannot exceed your manifester level and the two powers must be of different disciplines. The two powers must have the same manifesting time and if they have a target, the targets for the powers may be different.
Expanded Mind (Ex): At 20th level, each day when you meditate to regain power points, you may choose any one power from any class power list and add it to your powers known for the day. This power does not count against your number of powers known.

Generalists cannot gain the specialist powers of specialists without Expanded Knowledge.

3) There is a list of the traits in my first post here, but if you can think of other traits that would be appropriate, I'll consider them. It's one trait, but you will gain an extra trait at the end of each module.

4) The adventure path is set in Golarian. There is a free Player's Guide download for Rise of the Runelords here. It contains all the information you need to know on the setting. In addition my second post in the Discussion thread above has a document detailing the position of psionics in the world of Golarian.

5) It's entirely up to you, and how you feel it would help you play best.

I'd rather your character was your own in the long run, while it means a bit of musical taverns getting characters in and out of the game I've always found players play best their own creations.

Well, anyone else out there interested in taking up the psion's torch?

I think you might get more responses if you start a new recruitment thread (e.g. "Recruiting replacement psion for Rise of the Runelords").

Thanks Hogarth, I'll try that!
