If a murderous criminal is cremated rather than buried or something, can they still become a morhg? Or do they instead become a ghost or something?
A morhg needs a body to manifest. And not every situation that COULD result in a morhg (or any undead) always results in a morgh (or whatever).
So what do I do if the book says "These enemies come back as morhgs later," but my players burned the corpses already? For that matter, how do you have undead villains coming back to bother PCs in general if the players are paranoid enough to cremate anything they kill to avoid such an occurrence?

Then they don't come back as morhgs. We can't predict every action your party takes.

And if your party is that paranoid, perhaps that's because either...

1) You've done this trick to them enough already, or...

2) Those particular players have seen that story played out so often that they assume it happens all the time.

In BOTH cases, you and your players are better suited with an entirely different storyline. Maybe something without undead in it at all.

Incorporeal Undead that also do fire damage? (and take more damage from holy water).

1) How are you today?

2) What video games are you playing "currently"?

3) Fight between Demon Lords, Great Old Ones and Kaijus; how ridiculous would the collateral damages be?

4) Do you think we need more arts of male Catfolks in B3 style?

5) What would be your favorite idea of an alternate history for our world?

What is the creature on page 193 of the Pathfinder Game Mastery Guide called?

Mr. James Jacobs,

I just read the afterlife article in volume 6 of Mummy's Mask. In your estimation would a soul trying to recover the memories and experiences of a previous iteration of their existence be an interesting story to tell and would it involve mythic?

Grand Lodge

Hello Mr. James Jacobs, my question is simple but i will elaborate if you'd want afterwards. Is a tiny creature adjacent to the foe who's square it's in?

Extra Details
I have recently made my GM baby into a Kitsune that predominantly stays in fox shape (communicating with a ring of eloquence) and have several things which, while my GM allowed, i would like a second opinion on. Primarily because my fox is being streamed on a twitch run of the Emerald Spire and half the people emailed him about it being stupid for being allowed and the other half wanted to emulate me... basically i want to make sure everything i do is legit.

As an immediate action, Gekido (my fox) uses the "Step-Up" feat to follow the foe who's square he's inside of. Basically, the feat declares "Whenever an adjacent foe attempts to take a 5-foot step away from you..." but i am not sure if he's, by they rules, adjacent.

It's revealed in the course of Rise of the Runelords, that the lamias inhabiting Xin-Shalast are not only working with Karzoug, but are also dedicated to Lamashtu. Interestingly, it seems that Lamashtu worship wasn't uncommon in old Thassilon either, if Xaliasa (aka The Scribbler) is any indication.

Based on Lamashtu's general principles, in addition to the fact that Thassilon was a seemingly LE aligned empire, the goddess and this ancient civilization seem like odd bedfellows.

What was the role of Lamashtu's worship in ancient Thassilon?

It's very interesting. It doesn't need mythic.

By all definitions in the real world, yes, it would be adjacent.

Whether or not that means that the design team would consider it to be adjacent due to the fact that it has no reach is up to them; if you want that answer, you'll need to ask on the rules forum for an FAQ request.

Lamashtu was one of the primary gods of Thassilon, which was itself not an overly religious nation.

Thassilon's national alignments varied by region.

Hi James,

For the sake of the discussion let's say that a noble drowning has been redeemed. Now, as I understand that drowning would begin turning into a normal elf.my question is, would the noble origins of the draw affect the final outcome of any abilities for the elf or would it be a normal elf?

Thanks in advance.

Hello James

I have a few questions about Mythic abilities

1. I have an Oracle with the Domain Immunity path ability. If i have the Divine Source Universal Path ability that allows me to pick two domains, does Domain Immunity apply to those Domains?

2. Domain Immunity (su) states: You don't take damage or suffer harmful effects from spells on your domain spell list, even ones you aren't of a high enough level to cast. If our cleric has Meteor Swarm from the stars subdomain and is hit with the Tier 10 augmented ability from Meteor Swarm: "Augmented (10th): If you expend two uses of mythic power, creatures in the path of a meteor also take 4d10 points of fire damage and the damage from the exploding meteors increases to 10d10 points of fire damage; this fire damage bypasses fire resistance and fire immunity."
Even though It says bypasses fire immunity does Domain Immunity apply and the meteor swarm spell has no effect?

3. If the cleric also has Time stop on his Domain list and the enemy wizard casts timestop does Domain immunity make the time spot not effect the cleric? How does that work for combat? Time stop states "This spell seems to make time cease to flow for everyone but you" and "While the time stop is in effect, other creatures are invulnerable to your attacks and spells; you cannot target such creatures with any attack or spell." The caster of time stop cannot attack or effect anyone with spells in timespot but the cleric is not in time stop if immune. Does this become a 1v1 battle? Can the cleric use attack spells to effect the wizard? Does the wizard have the ability to effect the cleric because he is immune and not under the effect or does time stop prevent that because of restricts while the wizard is being effected by timestop?

Thank you

Step one: What is a "drowning"?

EDIT: OH! Are you talking about drow nobles?

In that case... a redeemed drow noble would be in all ways statistically the same as a drow except she'd have a different alignment. No changes to abilities.

So Gorum's planer realm is on Elysium does this mean he has a lot of Azata and angel Servants?

Nope. Doesn't mean that at all. His planar servants are mostly valkyries and einherji and similar creatures.

Hey James,

I wanted to ask, if Unspeakable Futures is Pathfinder compatible, does that mean it has a lot of supernatural or magical elements since magic is irrevocably tied to Pathfnder's system? Do people primarily use swords and bows in US?

There are 9 character classes in UF. Only 3 of those are spellcaster classes. The other 6 are martial classes.

Those 3 spellcaster classes have full 1st to 9th level spellcasting, and thier spells all work pretty much the same way as oracles/sorcerers do.

ANYONE in UF can use wands or scrolls, and with the right feat, can learn to cast spells in a much reduced capacity.

The bulk of weapons used by characters are technological in nature. In fact, the equipment chapter of "Technology Guide" is from UF, pretty much, so folks in UF use chainsaws and zero rifles and vortex guns and the like. Bows and swords are avialable still, but they're generally only used by low level characters, or by one of the two classes that focuses in primitive weapons (mystics and survivalists).

G#**&~n does that sound awesome! I'm trying to figure out how to do a setting that's post apocalyptic and set in our world for Pathfinder, but the problem is I don't know what classes would fit and what ones wouldn't. Perhaps there's some third party stuff out there that I'm not aware of...

So then if I may ask, how does combat play if everyone is using tech weapons (ie hitting touch AC)? Do you use one of the alternate rules in Ultimate Combat?

I by no means intend to speak for James, but I believe this would be up to the Gamemaster. The last thing Mr. Jacobs wants to do (usually ;>) is give players ammunition to lead a revolt against their GM.

I'll be adding a "defense score" to all classes and monsters in the next full iteration of UF to bring touch AC scores up higher and closer to normal AC... and I might even just completely get rid of "touch AC" and "flat-footed AC" entirely. Since Unspeakable Futures is designed from the ground up for a different baseline and game-play experience than is Pathfinder, I get to do things like that to fix the whole touch AC problem.

In earlier versions of the game, firearms and the like resolved as normal attack rolls, with some weapons having a "penetration" score that helped to get through some but not all of a creature's armor. An early version of firearms for Pathifinder worked the same way, but the design team felt that was too complex and just switched it over to touch AC attacks.

If they're under Torch's base value score, they'd have a 75% chance of being available, as with any other significant item.

Unless you the GM want to limit tech item availability.

To be a bit more specific...

Torch has a base value score of 2,400 gp. That means the same thing it always means—for items (be they magical or technological) that are 2,400 gp or less, there's a 75% chance the item can be purchased in the city. (Obviously, the bog-standard items from the Core Rulebook are available without needing this check.)

The specific items listed in the gazetteer as being for sale are AUTOMATICALLY available in the quantities listed; no need of rolling any 75% chance of availability.

Unspeakable Futures. A post-apocalyptic RPG I designed based on 3.0's rules about 10 years ago, and that I've been tinkering with on and off for the past decade, updating it to various different versions of the rules as I went. It's currently under a modified version of the Pathfinder rules. It's not publicly available, although portions of my design work for it can be seen in the gunslinger class and in the bulk of the Technology Guide.

(I generally don't speak in "Internet Acronym" because of confusion like this, but that one slipped through.)

The classes are the cabalist (focuses on Cthulhu-themed and spooky spells), the mystic (focuses on transformation and healing and nature themed spells), and the esper (focuses on mind-affecting spells and self-enhancement spells and kinesis spells).

Cabalist is an Int-based caster. Mystic is a Wis-based caster. Esper is a Cha-based caster.

There is no "arcane" or "divine" category of magic in Unspeakable Futures.

In Golarion, how does a character end up as an Arcanist, as opposed to a Wizard?

Is the character born an Arcanist, ala the sorcerer, or does the character decide to go to "Arcanist school" instead of "Wizard school"? The "born arcanist" vs. the "learned arcanist" hypothesis.

Or does a character initially show up for Wizard school only to find out that he tends to cast spells a different way, thereby becoming an Arcanist? Like finding out you're left-handed when the teacher sticks the pen in your right hand.

These burning questions await illumination.

Unless "Advanced Class Options" says differently, you end up an arcanist instead of a wizard because you chose to study magic differently. Kinda like how when you go to college, you don't automatically become an engineer. You might study to become a physicist or a botanist or who knows what else.

Gods can do anything they want. If you want to do a story like this in your game, that's fine, but I would advise you stat up your fake paladins as warpriests, fighters, clerics, or anything else and then give them feats and spells and archetypes and stuff to help them pose as paladins. Golarion's already got an entire nation of people who think Razmir is a deity, so it's certainly possible you could get a cult of fake paladins. They would NOT have paladin levels though.

More to the point, they'd likely not be organized by the god anyway, but by the god's more powerful and imaginative and charismatic worshipers.
