Could Iron Kingdoms Campaign come to Pathfinder?

Product Discussion

It was mentioned by Privateer Press that some time in 2011 Iron Kingdoms may come back as RPG but unsure. I wonder if Pathfinder may possibly be interested in the campaign setting considering its so vast & Privateer Press basically keeps it on the back burner. There is a large interest from fans, via Iron Kingdom Forum in the game being completed ,many use Pathfinder material to expand there games. Many of the character classes have not been completed such as the Warlock, fans are dying for a general description. With a Universe of Warjacks,Warbeasts,& Steampunk technology this game would be AWESOME to add to the existing universe at Pathfinder. Well any out there interested??????

They have been talking about bringing the RPG back for a couple of years now. The last thing I remember reading from someone from the company. Was something along the lines of. They want to do it, plan to do it. But if/when they do, it will be it's own game with it's own rules. Now that could have changed. That was just the last thing i remember reading about it.

Last I saw on the privateer press website was that they were looking to make some moves on this next year. Nothing definite, nothing inked, just some teaser comments. So maybe it'll show next year, maybe 2012. I tend to think next year makes a lot of sense since they should be done with the rolling out all the must haves for the revamp fo their minitures game, and they should have some free development cycles.

As for the rules set, it has been hinted that they are looking at a in house rules set that will more parallel the table top game. Thus making it easier to cross pollinate thier fans from one game to the other.

Now from a business stand point that sounds awesome. From a fan stand point, I'm not so thrilled with that move. I loved their 3.5 rpg stuff. The setting, and vision was awesome. I would love to see them go pathfinder, or even AU, with a new ruleset. But I just don't see it happening.

A lot of their more vocal fans are decidedly anti anything that even sniffs of DnD. For whatever reason. And they seem to be very happy with the hinted at move. We'll just have to wait and see what they announce as we move closer to an actual release.

That might be interesting. I am always on the lookout for new steampunk related material to throw into the new version of my homebrew world. I snatched up The Witchfire Trilogy back in the day and had fun running it. So much so I am running it again now, modified extensively, as a precursor to Red Hand of Doom. I kind of lost interest in the setting when they seemed to shift in favor of their miniatures game and haven't kept up on it at all in years.

Any kind of 3P group going PFRPG is a good thing in my book. I'd like to see even more support for the game as it is a solid rules set.

I love PF and I love IK but, IK in a D20 setting is a dismal failure. Spellcasting is an entirely different animal. Hell, MAGIC is an entirely different animal in IK.

After looking through a half dozen other systems, I think the only viable option for IK is a game based off their already existing rules for Hordes/Warmachine, made more in depth and deliciously complex.

I'll echo that I heard that they're going to start up their own in-house mechanics. Wish I remember where I read the article in the online interview.

Yeah, it's been said several times that they want to go their own way, which is a shame to me. I like the IK as a D&D setting.

PP folks have a distaste for the d20 system so i doubt there will be any synergy between Pathfinder and Iron Kingdoms.

Sadly, as game companies continue to refuse to learn, all this does is ensure that only players of their tabletop game will who happen to play rpg's will buy in. They would do far better to take an established rpg system and use it's popularity to drive people to their tabletop game. Sigh, sadly its a lesson that every game company refuses to learn from history.

The distaste that be that ingrained or they wouldn't have gone the D&D route to start with. It just seems wierd with all the IK-finder conversions being done and the strength of sales of PF generally. If they did an IK AP....

I guess they're a miniatures company now, so I expect their own rules to require figures.

Not Necessarily, those who don't play the WarGame might get into the RPG, and actually decide to play the wargame afterwards, my wargame of choice it Showdown, I'm eventually going to have conversions for pretty much every Wargame I'll have Figure flats for pretty much anything, so it's all good.

I love the IK IP, it's agreat system, but yeah anything other than fantasy tends to get mired down in the d20 system...but that's OK there are planety of other fish in the Ocean.
