[APG] The Summon Eidolon spell...

Rules Questions

Since this spell is a conjuration (summoning) spell and is called "Summon [...]", does anything prevent Augment Summoning from applying to one's eidolon if it is summoned in this way?

If that same Summoner had the Summoner's Call feat, could he or she apply that bonus as well? Perhaps to get +4 strength, +2 dexterity and +4 constitution? The feat seems to indicate that the effect only happens after the summoning ritual. But maybe the round long casting of the Summon Eidolon spell counts as a "ritual."

Summon Eidolon summons a creature with a "summon spell", and thus fulfills all of the requirements for Augment Summoning to work. So, it does.

There's question as to the intent of Summoner's Call interacting with summon Eidolon, though. The first bit of rules text would lead one to believe it would work, but the duration portion measures the duration based on when the summoning ritual was performed, and if you cast summon Eidolon there was no ritual.

The Exchange

Quote:

A summoner can summon his eidolon once per day in

a ritual that takes 1 minute to perform.

It's not a spell to summon the eidolon. It just seems to be an unnamed ritual. So it would not be affected by Augment Summoning.

Not the ritual,

There is also a summon spell that allows the Eidelon to be summoned without the ritual, but it only stays around for a few rounds before going back.

While I can see how even yet more wording in the APG can be easily confusing I think if you interpret the spirit of the feat, yes it applies when using the summon eidolon spell.

Clearly that feat was intended for the eidolon, regardless of how it was summoned. It is already a poor feat since it last only 10 minutes. But then to also have it to where it only applies when you summon the eidolon in a certain way? I don't think that was the intention.

Just like Augment Summoning technically doesn't apply to the Eidolon unless using the summon eidolon spell. But I don't think that is the intention either, so both should apply.
