Not to threadjack - but is there something you have to click or turn on in order to get notifications from a facebook page you maintain?

Sorry guys, didn't mean to stir up anything.
Paul has a legitimate gripe.

I'll count to ten before I post like that again :)

As long as you don't count to 10 in binary. ;-)

Good question. I'm unaware right off the top of my head. I have a page where I am getting notifications and I have one where I'm not. I'm thinking it does have something to do with whether or not there are multiple admins.

I am associated with one page with multiple administrators - no notifications.

I have two pages where I am the only administrator - no notifications for either of them.

Maybe its just a facebook quirk.

Urizen wrote:

Selecting to view under JUST OTHERS, fourth one down.

I'd figure that any posts to one's wall would trigger notifications.

EDIT: While you're looking, there's separate individuals asking for the status updates on the Villainomicon and The Tales of New Cobuzon rpg.

JESUS. Thank you SO MUCH for pointing that out. Damn Facebook -- there is zero notification, and I spend no time on Facebook normally, so I was woefully uninformed as to the functions.

I will be making much more effort to keep track of that. Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got a bunch of posts to respond to over there.

Different quirk, different day. At least it's "free" and I can get around the unnecessary ad spam with adblock. :)

Chalk it up as a learning experience, I suppose. At least both sides can easier understand the issue / panic with regard to lack of communication and why.

I haven't seen anything more on this. I am wondering if we will still see the pre-released PDF's this month.

that is most promising GMS. I, for one, am very optimistic!

Very nice I am really looking forward to it.

Good to hear that this is still on track. I've been very tempted to order it. Was there ever a Table of Contents or any previews posted?

Sample art other than the cover?

There have not been any previews -- which I will remedy right now.

Here's a look at a player-character race from WOTA:

----------------------------
SQUATCH

Squatches are a reclusive race that forms communities in less-travelled and remote areas. While squatches were most likely born in the genetic mash-up that was the Big Boom, there are some who believe that squatches are an ancient race that only became more prolific as man’s dominance dwindled in the aftermath. Unfortunately it’s difficult to ascertain the truth, as squatches find the mystique beneficial and have trouble communicating with other races on more than a basic level.

Squatches are a primitive race and have little use for ancient relics or even the Dark Age technology of their neighbors. Still, squatches have no taboos or inability to learn how to use such technologies should the opportunity arise.

Physical Description: A squatch is a large humanoid and towers over humans. He has a feral appearance; a squatch’s body is covered in shaggy fur (generally in the same variations as human hair) except for his face, palms, and soles. The squatch’s humanoid face has definite feline features. Squatches tend to be powerfully built and somewhat stockier than humans, with their arms slightly longer than their legs relative to humanity.

Because of their shaggy appearance and naturally tough skin, squatches tend to go “naked,” wearing clothes or accessories only for utility. It is not uncommon for a squatch hunter to wear only a belt and quiver or for a warrior squatch to don a breastplate.

Squatches lack the ability to speak normally. They use a combination of vocal grunts and hand gestures to “speak” with each other. This can make them effectively mute in bad lighting or when bound. While they can’t speak other languages, a squatch can understand them.

Society: Most squatches gather in small communities, generally extended families or small tribes. They have a primitive lifestyle but are extremely creative, often building villages in challenging but easily protected places such as treehouses over swamps or along the side of a cliff face. Squatches are natural climbers and have little use for ladders, making such communities difficult for other humanoids to get around, much less conquer.

A few squatches prefer living a solitary lifestyle, picking a small stretch of land and treating it as their own. Such squatches are very territorial and see other squatches stepping on their “earth” as a challenge. Intra-squatch territorial challenges tend to be brutal affairs, with usually only one squatch walking away.

Relations: Squatches shun the societies of other races, although they have little trouble making friends with isolated members. Of all the races squatches prefer the beast folk, as both commonly inhabit the same space. Squatches are also on tolerable terms with plant folk.

Alignment: Squatches have little use for laws. They tend to either live peacefully in a small group or strike out on their own, living a hermetic lifestyle. Communal squatches have a tendency toward good while solitary squatches tend toward neutral at best.

Adventurers: Squatches make good scouts and warriors. They prefer joining groups that roam the wilderness rather than seek secrets in underground bunkers. A squatch is a loyal companion and protects his friends as he would his own family.

Squatch Racial Traits
+2 Strength, +2 Wisdom, -2 Intelligence. Squatches are strong and perceptive but a bit slow to comprehend the unfamiliar.

Large: Squatches are large creatures and take a -1 size penalty to their AC, a -1 size penalty on attack rolls, a +1 bonus to their Combat Maneuver Bonus and Combat Maneuver Defense, and a -4 size penalty on Stealth checks. Squatches must use two hands to wield a huge weapon and treat medium weapons as light.

Extended Reach: A squatch has a natural reach of 10 feet.

Normal Speed: A squatch has a base speed of 30 feet.

Intimidating: Squatches receive a +2 racial bonus on Intimidate skill checks due to their feral appearance.

Low-Light Vision: Squatches can see twice as far as humans in conditions of dim light.

Natural Armor: A squatch has a +2 natural armor bonus due to his thick hide.

Climbers: Squatches are natural climbers and receive a +2 racial bonus on Climb skill checks.

Rock Throwing: Squatches are accomplished throwers and receive a +1 racial bonus on attack rolls with thrown rocks. A Squatch can throw any rock of small size or less. A “rock” is any large, bulk, and relatively regularly shapped object made of a material with a hardness of at least 5 (e.g. concrete blocks, metal file cabinets, and microwave ovens). A squatch can hurl a rock up to five range increments. Damage from a thrown rock is generally 1d6 plus 1-1/2 his Strength bonus.

Impaired Voice: The native squatch language is a mix of grunts and hand gestures. A squatch can learn other languages but cannot speak them. A squatch that is blinded, bound, or otherwise unable to communicate through hand gestures is effectively mute except for the most basic of expressions.

----------------------------

So there ya go. Whatever you do, don't MOK... er, I mean "Mock"... a Squatch, because they're bound to get OOKLA... er, I mean "Ugly."

:D

Ultra sweet.

Looks like ya'all are back on track at Adamant!

Considering that April arrives Friday and there was hopes the pre-orders would come out this month...before the retail release in June.

We're on schedule for the retail release in June, so I expect that pre-orders will be delivered late April/early May.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

To further whet your appetites, here's an entry from the Creatures section of WARLORDS OF THE APOCALYPSE:

AITCHKAY
There's no sound, really, just a slight distubance in the air. There is a flickering of light in the darkness, a brief flare of red, and then they are on you, a group of flying metal monsters looking like no living creature, all angles and planes and jutting weapons. The last thing you hear before the energy beams slice you to pieces is your name, chanted emotionlessly and blandly by your mechanical murderers.

Aitchkay CR 14 (38,400 xp)
N Medium construct (robot)
Init +5; Senses darkvision 60'; blindsight 60'; Perception +2
Defense
AC 32, touch 15, flat-footed 27; (+5 Dex, +17 natural)
hp 124 (19d10+0); regeneration 10 (acid)
Fort +6, Ref +11, Will +8
Defensive abilities DR 10/acid; Immune lightning, cold;

Offense
Spd 30 ft., fly 60' (perfect)
Melee 4 x pincer +23 (1d6+4/19-20)
Ranged 2 x laser +24 (8d6 fire)
Special Attacks breath weapon (60 foot cone, 8d6 lightning damage, reflex save DC 19 for half, usable every 1d4 rounds)

Statistics
Str 18, Dex 20, Con -, Int -, Wis 14, Cha 14
Base Atk +19; CMB +23; CMD 38
SQ construct traits

Ecology
Environment Any land
Organization Solitary, Kill-Team (2-4), or Patrol (5-8)
Treasure Incidental

Special Abilities
Find Target (EX) The Aitchkay has a +8 racial bonus on all Perception checks related to locating its target.
Lightning Blast (EX) The Aitchkay is capable of producing a massive discharge of lightning. It will generally only do this if its primary target is in the area of effect or if it is under severe threat.

Aitchkays are dreaded monsters, often used as the stuff of nightmares or the basis of some religions. Relentless robotic pursuers, they will seek a specified target across entire continents. Technomancers, wire-wizards, and similar masters of the old machines often find and activate these devices and send them after their foes. Some of the newer religions hold they are avenging angels or demons, sent to puruse sinners.

They will generally not initiate combat unless attacked or unless they perceive their target, and will use lasers in preference to lightning to minimize "collateral damage". If attacked or if they conclude their target is being protected or hidden, they will unleash maximum force without regard to who gets hurt.

Aitchkays are hovering collections of machinery with no obvious humanoid form; they're a mass of grav-emitters, slicing claws, mobile turret systems, and blinking sensor lights.

This is great news! Hopefully I'll have it in time for my birthday in May. I'm am really looking forward to it.

Another question for you, sorry if it's already been answered.
Are there templates or ideas for using creatures from the Bestiaries or other sources in the apocalyse setting?

Yes there is -- including a mutation system where a few die rolls will turn any Pathfinder-compatible creature stat block into a brand-new post-apocalyptic monster!

Anyone receive their pdf copies yet? I'm curious about this game.

Any chance of illustrations to go with the creatures to better imagine your descriptions?

PDFs are going out to pre-order customers in about a month or so, when the book is sent to print.

Gotta save something for the actual book, after all.... :)

In other words: "No, but the same promises that have been coming for half a year are still coming." I'll wait and remain curious.

Has there been any news on if this book has come out/will come out soon? Really hope it comes out soon.

While you wait, entertain yourself (or do some research) by checking out just how much damage some nukes will do to your favorite city...

Any chance we could see a list of the chapter titles?

Or maybe in lieu, another preview? Like maybe the Table of Contents if possible? :)

Just to let everyone know, any and all delays are on the art end. I'm getting them finalized and finished up as soon as possible - along with a new cover.

Which means there's lots of time for proofreading, right? ;)

Ha!

While I do think it's a cool thing that Rick is now in charge of the art side because his work is top notch, I have to state for the record that when the last "delay" occurred, the art wasn't the issue for the hold-up. I'm guessing that whatever was slated for the artwork is getting replaced / updated by Rick's.

And I guess I'm suggesting that as long as there's an extended window here, why not take advantage by offering for N (where N is like 5 or so) pre-orders or some other trusted folks to continue combing through the manuscript for those tiny errors that can creep into the text. Layout's going to need that new art before it really progresses, which means you can spot fix errata now with a vengeance.

I am not suggesting the text is error ridden now, but that I'm hoping someone seizes this opportunity to make it even better.

-Ben.

Actually the initial delay was because of a couple of writers flaking out on us, which meant that I needed to jump in and do those sections myself -- and unfortunately, I'm not as fast as I'd like to be, because I have to juggle running the business along with any writing duties.

But yes, I'm taking the extra time while Rick finishes up the art to have the manuscript gone over by a few more sets of eyes.

I'll post another preview tomorrow. Promise.

Its tomorrow

Yeah -- Thunderstorm took out our internet. I'll post the preview when I'm back at work on Monday.

As an aside, have you thought of adventure support for this new ruleset?

It seems like that'd be high-priority for getting folks active with the new game.

psionichamster wrote:

We have, yes.

Initially, the adventure releases will be in PDF, until we can gauge if the audience is big enough to merit print releases.

As promised, another preview:

Scrapheapers
It's nothing but mountains of rust and decay, a place where the old ones tossed their worn out relics. The only good part is that someplace so useless won't attract anyone who would fight to defend it. Then there's a shifting in the metal and the sudden appearance of a dozen or more armed creatures, not entirely human, who roar in rage and attack, proving you wrong.

Scrapheaper CR 2 (600 xp)
NE medium humanoid
Init +2; Senses low-light vision (30'); Perception +3
Defense
AC 16, touch 13, flat-footed 13; (+3 armor, +2 Dex, +1 dodge)
hp 30 (4d8+12);
Fort +4, Ref +6, Will +3
Defensive Abilities terrain use; DR 5/- (see below); Immune disease, poison;
Offense
Spd 30 ft.,
Melee improvised weapon +5 (1d8+3), or slam +5 (1d3+2)
Special Attacks swarming
Statistics
Str 14, Dex 14, Con 16, Int 8, Wis 14, Cha 8
Base Atk +3; CMB +5; CMD 17
Feats Dodge, Skill Focus (Stealth)
Skills Craft +3, Perception +3, Stealth +6, Survival +6
Languages Common, junk call
SQ junkyard agility
Combat Gear scrap armor, scrap weapon;
Ecology
Environment junkyards and rubble fields
Organization scout patrol (2-4), defenders (5-10), community (25-50)
Treasure standard
Special Abilities
Junk Armor (EX) Scrapheapers are skilled at fitting together any random bits of metal and hide into useful armor. Their special constuctions give them DR 5/-, with the DR dropping by 1 each time they're hit. They do not lose their +3 armor bonus, however.
Junk Call (EX) Scrapheapers can communicate in a language of hoots, grunts, and sounds made by hammering metals which no outsider can understand. These messages can travel at least 250 feet, and allow scrapheapers to set up ambushes or be warned of invaders, without anyone else even knowing a message has been sent.
Junk Mobility (EX) Scrapheapers can move over rubble, junk piles, and rusting metal with no penalties.
Swarming (EX) Scrapheapers fight together. If two scrapheapers are adjacent to the same creature, they are considered to be flanking that creature, no matter their position. If two scrapheapers are positioned so as to flank the creature normally, they gain +4 to their attack rolls and do +1d6 damage. The bonus damage does not apply to creatures immune to sneak attacks.

The ancient junkyards and scrapheaps left behind when the world ended hold more than mutant rants. Some humans took refuge there, perhaps hoping no one would try to claim these areas and that they wouldn't have to fight too hard. Over time, the toxic chemicals and hard life has mutated them somewhat, making them lean, lanky, virtually immune to any disease or poison, and a bit feral and animalistic. They have an incredible skill, almost an instinct, for turning bits and pieces of scavenged metal and plastic into tools and armor.

Scrapheapers tend to be hostile to any invaders in their territory, but can sometimes be bargained with. They respond well to being treated with respect by people who have power, and respond with hostility to disrespect or to those whom they see as weak and easy prey. They know their lands well, so if there's a particular item you need from within the junkyards, getting them to help locate it is a good idea, but be cautious, as they sometimes will lead outsiders into traps or ambushes.
