A great experience at PaizoCon UK

Grand Lodge 5/5 ****

I'm just back and thought I should add here a great Thank You for two fantastic days at PaizoCon UK. Dave did a fantastic job as the driving force behind the event. Having Josh around and leading the Saturday evening game was absolutely enjoyable. And for me as a GM for the three slots on Saturday it was the players who really ensured I will be back. We had some great role-play and I don't think the group did know what they got themselves into when they 'just wanted to go for a drink' before the grand attack. The goblin quashed by the barrel you tried to loot never saw it coming for him.

I'm sure I will be back next year.

Dear Grandmaster Wintergreen

Thank you so much for the 4 last assignments, three for myself and one for my sister in thought Cara-Ly. We have both enjoyed the splendid challenges and even more the heroic tales to tell other adventurers over an ale at our local lodge and now the chance to show off our well earned treasures. The whole idea of meeting so many Pathfinders in one lodge was thrilling and worth all the hassle of organising other minors in our life around this great event. The black dragons could not be missed and the mad friends charging enemies on their camel will never be forgotten anymore.

A special Thanks also goes to all the other venture captains making the events possible. but the biggest "Thank You" belongs to Grandmaster Wintergreen!

ever so grateful

Many thanks guys. Really appreciated and you are very welcome. I don't think I'm grand master Wintergreen yet but I think everybody who GMed earned the title of Venture Captain ;-)

Hi

I'd like to add my name the the many votes of thanks for the weekend.

Really enjoyed the playtest on Saturday night - the idea of 1st lvl characters (my table) supporting another table by shooting at Dragons, (yeah, I know, they still had DR), was really fun.

Much horseplay was had with the jubilant cries of tables fulfilling their missions, answered with; "What, that your first Goblin"? abounded.

Earlier in the day, my Halfling Rogue managed to overcome Skelly DR with his Rapier & Sneak Attack. Something I'll never forget.....

Lastly, thanks to everyone there, players, organisers & GM's. Hope Josh got back OK - he's certainly earned a few days off resting! :)

Thanks again
Paul H
Edit: PS - We getting any 'Special Guests' at Conception next year? PFS seems to be getting ever more popular over here.

You said it, pal! :-)

Indeed many congratulations to those who organised and thanks to Josh for being around. I hope Europe treated you well and interest in Pathfinder and Paizo products increases.

Can't wait for the next one!

My only mistreatment in Europe came at the hands of Deutsche Bahn, Germany's rail company. But I wasn't alone. They mistreated thousands and will likely pay for it.

Are you sure that they didn't mistreat thousands just to get to you? I saw a rumour on the internet....

Just don't make it Open Source, who knows what Monsters would be created from your gene sequence!

Yes, one who never smiles.. ;-)

It's hard to smile when (a) everyone wants to talk to you about their character and (b) you're so tired the muscles in your face are using all of their power to keep the eyes open and the ears functioning.

how often does that happen?

Oh gawd ...

I love this game and I love RP and doing such with groups I'm playing with or GMing.

But I will fall asleep right there in the middle of the room when you start telling me about your character and aren't a part of the above groups. Telling me about interesting uses of the rules to make your character are acceptable. Telling me why he hates orcszzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

I thought hating (or at the very least feeling a mild sense of disapproval of) orcs was hardwired into the game. Why invent a reason?

The problem is that when two roleplayers meet and start talking about their characters, the one that is not speaking is just waiting for the other one to shut up, so he can start about his own character. It's never a dialogue, just two monologues. ;-)

The only way to stop this is to never talk about your own characters! It’s difficult and I more than once slipped off the wagon. You can however talk about the characters of other people. Chances are that if you find that character interesting someone else might as well.

And everyone has to agree, if someone else is talking about your character, that’s a compliment, even when they say it’s a stupid concept, abuse of the rules, totally ineffective or a smudge on the campaign! ;-)

I tell you I saw him smile at PaizoCon UK - it might have been an evil smile but it was certainly a smile!

He smiled when he signed my name card. And I'm pretty sure it was evil.

But in fairness, I think I caught him at a bad moment - demanding a signature during the Shadow Lodge event probably wasn't the best decision I made there.

Mind you, at least now I understand his sense of humour.

And for the record, I never tried to tell him about my character.

Dear Bemused in the UK,

It's perfectly simple: Mr. Frost is the epitome (by mortal standards) of charm and witty repartee, but unfortunately due to the size of those fiddly little PaizoCon UK badges there wasn't space for him to write out the full quote 'The pen is mightier than the sword'.
Hoping that this sets your mind at rest.

Yours,

Ask A Succubus.

Why are my ears burning?

Am I cursed?

It was good to see you again, Auke, for our Magical Mystery Tour on Sunday night. So hard to find a place that does Southern Fried Velociraptor after the curfew.

Made me LOL. Thank you, AAS

Great to hear that Paizocon UK went well and people had a good time! Given that my daughters will be a bit older next year, I hope to be able to join you - my PFS character's been sat at 2nd level since January 2009...

You'll be very welcome. And I think there were quite a few people there this year who hadn't played their characters since the previous year.

I thought I'd let everyone know that I've now collected all the bids for the Chris Brecken Pathfinder Auction that we held. Thanks to all of you we raised £600 which we will be donating to Centrepoint, a charity that work with homeless young people.

Thank you UK Pathfinders for a magnificent effort and your generosity.
