DM Tanner Presents Crypt of the Everflame

Gamer Connection

Thank you all for the feedback from my previous thread. They are all so great, it's like choosing which of your children you love the most (shame on you if you have). I liked the idea of running a shorter module rather than a full AP. I plan on running Masks of the Living God and City of Golden Death after this, so it is halfway between a single adventure and a full AP.

So please feel free to submit a character or ask any questions you would like! Characters will be chosen in one week.

Game: Crypt of the Everflame
Level: 1
Players: 5
Abilities: 20 pt buy
Classes: Any from core rulebook or APG
Alignment: Any
Wealth: Average by class
Background: Short and simple, 150 words or less.

Note on Evil PCs:

Spoiler:

Here are my rules for evil PCs:
1. No sexual assault. Threatening sexual assault may be used in vague allusions.
2. No PC drug use or abuse. Buying and selling drugs is permitted.
3. No attacking other PCs. Nonlethal duels may be allowed by the DM.
4. Do not attack or kill any named NPC that has a picture/artwork without DM approval or if they agress first. They are important to the storyline!
5. Everything else is fine.

Good luck to everyone!

How does one develop the ability scores? Rolling 4d6? Point Buy?

Thanks!

Fixed.

I'm up for it. Think I'll decide to go with my friend's suggestion and make something like a Dwarf Ranger. Sound good?

Pathfinder I assume since it isn't mentioned that it's anything else. How will ability scores be determined? Will it be point-buy or rolled?

Now my attempt at a backstory for this ranger:

Dolgrin Swifthammer was trained as a scout by other dwarves in his homeland. Scouting out any incoming patrols and taking time in tracking down the enemy so that they could be finished off and never return to their lands.

One night, Dolgrin woke to screams and in his horror, found that a neighbor had returned to the village after a routine scouting mission, slaughtered his entire family and left in the night, blood dripping from him. Dolgrin managed to look at him. It was Harsk Stonecarver, his own childhood friend and the look on his face was frenzied and covered in blood.

After this Dolgrin decided to leave the village, in search of his best friend and find out what happened to corrupt him in such a way and twist him into this rampaging lunitic? He had no idea, but knew he had to track him down and find out. The least he could do was avenge his friend's soul and kill him to deliver him into peace.

Are there still slots open for this game? I read the bit about "previous thread" and wanted to make sure before I throw my hat in for this. I think I'll go with an Elven rogue or Human barbarian if no one else has any objections and there is indeed a slot left. Ill be waiting for confirmation. Thanks.

My 'previous thread' was to ask for ideas about what kind of game to run. As of now, no spots have been filled.

Count me in, if you'll have me.

I would be interested in playing in this as well. I am going to submit a human Druid. will get to work and post a sheet asap.

I'm not all that familiar with the backstory for "Crypt". Where does it take place? I only ask for potential character background issues. With name of one of the later mods, I assume not too far from Razmiran?

EDIT: Nevermind, did a lil searching around and found that it starts in Kassen, Nirmathas.

Assuming I can come up with a good (or at least in my opinion good) character concept, I will likely submit a divine based character for the game. (I haven't decided between an oracle of heavens or an inquisitor of abadar yet though...)

I would like to join if there is room.

Probably a wizard of some sort.

Let me clarify. I'm not picking players so much as picking concepts. I would like people to submit a briefing for a PC they would like to play. I will choose from the submitted concepts in a week (or sooner, if there is good turnout, but not by too much).

well I'm back and made a alt to put in my character info:

Please allow me to present Gunter Griegspiel (Monk 1/Barbarian ?) for consideration.

Gunter’s childhood was typical of the nomadic Ulfen raiders of Irrisen. Through the first 11 years of his life, he was unnaturally small, and as such, was mercilessly bullied and abused by both his peers and his father. He developed into a very insular and private person. Then, shortly after his twelfth birthday, puberty caught up with him and he began to grow at an incredible rate. Soon he was towering over his previous tormentors and the tables were turned. The girls of his tribe, who earlier mocked his size, were intrigued by this new giant, and Gunter allowed himself to taste the wares they offered, growing to like the conquest of a woman’s charms as much as the conquest of a farm or village. His father, first despising his puny offspring, and now fearful and jealous of him, continued to dominate and abuse his son until Gunter had finally had enough, and, at the age of 14, fought back and killed his father. Unable to live with the shame of what he had done, and facing the wrath of his fellow tribesmen, Gunter fled Irrisen to southern lands.

Gunter, young, lost, and innocent to many of the ways of the world, could have ended up anywhere, so it was a pure stroke of either luck or divine will that he found his way to a small monastery devoted to Shelyn. Here, the monks viewed the human form as the height of beauty and its graceful movements the perfect homage to their goddess. The monks learned a form of martial art derived from the Vudrani as purely a means of defence and display of the beauty of Shelyn. For years, Gunter stayed with the monks and learned from them; the monks sought to purge Gunter of his barbaric roots and impulses, and for awhile, they succeeded.

But then, fate interceded again. The monastery was raided by Hellknights looking for plunder. Disappointed by the lack of material decorations they naturally assumed a following of Shelyn would possess, they vented their frustration on the abbot, killing him in a truly grotesque fashion. Unable to contain his latent rage any longer, Gunter broke free of the Hellknights restraining him and used his teachings to free the other monks. With the monastery retaken, the monks’ way would be to send the Hellknights on their way and mourn their loss, but Gunter thirsted for revenge and exacted it upon the unarmed Hellknights. For this act, he once again found himself banished.

Now, Gunter wanders aimlessly between Varisian and Avistan, searching for some place where he can finally fit in.

Shadow Lodge

Tempted by this game.. I like how its not one of the APs, for a change.

For your concideration.

Grand Lodge

This is a Bard I put together for a game on another site, but the game took so long getting going, I lost sight of the site and forgot about it. However, would be very happy to set him off for this set of adventures....The places can change to be more in line with the adventure, but the background would remain much the same.

This is overfiend_87 as per what my friend pointed out as a rule people perfer to post as the characters since it's easier tat way I suppose. Anyway, here he is.

Since I my knowledge of the Pathfinder Setting is effectively null, I'll bow out and watch on this one. I doubt I could generate a competitive enough character concept without a knowledge of the setting.

I guess all those years of playing Forgotten Realms, Greyhawk, Dragonlance, and Ravenloft must now be set aside for learning a whole new setting... bummer :)

I admit I know little about the pathfinder world myself and much more of Faerun (from books and video games) but I've given it a go anyway.

I'm personally working on attempting to make a Forgotten Realms Pathfinder, based on a campaign I only managed to do for one session. Thanks to pathfinder I won't worry about how I nearly killed my last characters, plus they were all small and couldn't deliver the damage output.

Just an FYI, the Crypt of the Everflame module is designed for new players. It is actually intended to be a bridge from 3.5 to the Pathfinder RPG. So please feel free to still submit!

Ok. Since I'm not new to Golarion I will bow out for new players.
Have fun and good luck.

I got accepted in another game, so Gunter too will bow out.

Aethron Sayonne,
Oracle of Lore

I'll put up the stats here in a sec.

I would be interested in joining if you would have me. Click my image for my concept.

Would we be using traits for this game?

I would certainly be interested in joining this with Basil. Full details are available via the character's page, but here is the background:

Background:
Basil is the second-eldest son of the Kittering family, who live in one of the outlying homesteads of the town of Kassen.

Like his father and elder brother, he has been raised as a logger, but Basil has found he has a knack for spotting missing things, and has excellent night vision, a fact which has made him invaluable when tracking wandering stock late at night.

He does have a bit of a temper; slow to anger, when he does explode, the results are volcanic. This shames him a great deal, and he makes every effort to keep a lid on it, which only accentuates his natural shyness.

Nonetheless, Basil remembers with pride the occasion two years ago when his brother made the pilgrimage to the Eternal Flame, and eagerly looks forward to his own coming-of-age ceremony.

Unbeknownst to Basil, however, he is the living proof of a dirty family secret – for his paternal grandfather was an orc, and although like his father, he is outwardly human in appearance, the orcish blood roars strong in his veins…

Dear Friends,

One of the games I play in died today and another is being put on hold for several weeks. With the extra time, I can upgrade from a single module to a full campaign. If anyone is still interested, check out my new recruitment posting. I apologize for the inconvenience.
