Round 4:
Corpus
Naubos
Ovid
Malize
Vernal
Santander
Skulks: G1 vulnerable 2 damage until Vernal EOT, bloodied, DC
Kevaras

1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26, damage: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9

Corpus steps up and finishes the gnome.

End of battle. Current group xp: 1265

Six enemies lay dead, the dwarf fled into the tunnels alone, the last gnome unaccounted for, and likely inside where ever the cave leads.

"These are most of her men." Naubos says. "There's only the genasi herself and two halflings left in her group. We can easily finish them."

Searching the bodies reveals a total of 170 gp, and in one pack is a Robe of Avoidance.

Rest then advance I assume?

Post rest Corpus: 36/37 hp, 9/12 surges

I'm putting CB files together for everyone from your profile info, as an easier way for me of figuring things out on the fly. If I see anything of note, I'll spoil it below.

Corpus:

Spoiler:
I couldn't find a level 2 feat. Two Weapon fighting at level 1, Two weapon defense as a Tempest class feature bonus, no level 2. I've tossed Two Weapon Threat (+3 damage on OAs) in as a placeholder for now, but let me know what it actually is, if you don't want that. Also CB shows 34 hp, 10 surges, 8 value, while the profile has 37 hp, 12 surges, 9 value. If Durable was the level 2 feat, surges would be right, but hp and value still off.

Ovid: All set - and it's only now I realize you took the Assassin multiclass feat, very cool :)

Malize: All set.

Vernal: All set

Santander:

Spoiler:
I need your level 2 feat and utility power.

Kevaras: All set.

Female Drow Wizard

Malize inspects the robe.

Would anyone else like it instead? I already have AC 18. It's easy enough for me roleplay Malize disliking the fabric or the colour :D

Male Drow Ardent 2

It is cloth armour, so only really useful for Malize, Ovid or Santander than Vernal, Corpus or Kervaras,

Male Shadar-Kai Monk 2

Spending one surge. I also have 18 AC, but since I'm also in melee most of the time I'll take the Robe.

Amelia wrote:

Ovid: All set - and it's only now I realize you took the Assassin multiclass feat, very cool :)

I needed a multiclass that gave Stealth, and Ovid's from a sect that practices sinister shadow-based magic. It was an obvious choice. (Why did I just reference a one-off image from a webcomic? Oh, yeah, no life.)

Male Revenant (Drow) Tempest Fighter

Corpus' 2nd level feat is Drow Soul, it gives him the ability to use the Drow ability Create Darkness or Darkfire.

36/37 hp
9/12 surges

After taking time to rest and divvy the loot, you all move into the cave. There clearly was once some of complex here, but most of the rooms are buried under tons of rubble. You travel for a while down the recently excatavated passage until you come to stairs going down. As you move down them, you can see a lit hallway, with some piles of rubble. The hallway opens into a large room. At the far end of the room is a glowing door.

In front of - and facing - the door are two halflings in leather armor. They seem to be studying the door.

A few feet in front of them is a genasi woman, also in leather armor - she seems to be waiting for you. "They're here, we'll delay them, get the door open!"

Map

You start in the yellow area which is the stairway, grey are rough terrain, blue is the door. Reynol (R) and Jarge (J) are the halflings, Ediza (E) is the genasi. And, though you don't ICly know it yet, the other gnome is here as well. I need init and starting squares from everyone. I've rolled Corpus'

Vernal lounges along, healing himself as he goes.

"Sweeting, we could always try scaring them away. I'll smile at them a bit. Then again, I'm sure Corpus and Kevaras would be upset if we did that. They like to play."

Intimidate any good here?

Malize DeWynter wrote:
Still waiitng to hear re: robe... :D

Ovid said he'd take it.

The threats issued don't see to phase the few foes.

Vernal, H22 is inside the wall, so moved you to J22. No, intimidate would have been useful to force surrenders of wounded mercs in the first fight, but, well, you all weren't showing mercy. The foes here, though, aren't the surrendering types. I've rolled init and placed Santader as well (he got a 16)

Map

Ediza moves forward to screen the room from you. "You won't have the staff, Naubos. It is not for the likes of you." she says in perfect Undercommon as she sees the mage at the back of your group.

Reynol studies the door, muttering arcane words...

Arcana: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16

...and the door flares with light as runes light up. He says something to the genasi, one would assume, but the language spoken is unknown to you all.

Round 1:
Corpus

Ovid
Skulk
Santander
Vernal
Kevaras
Malize
Naubos*
Ediza
Reynol

Female Drow Wizard

Sorry, Ovid - missed that.

Malize's ears prick up (even more than they already are) at the mention of a staff.

Corpus closes the gap between the group and Ediza, but the rubble slows him enough so that he can't attack her. He does, however, see the gnome that fled the earlier fight.

Jarge also studies runes on the doorway.

Arcana: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16

Once more, runes flare and you can see two thirds of a circle formed in along the doorway.

Ovid dashes forward and throws a shuriken at the halflings.

Move to H15 with the movement portion of Dancing Cobra, activate Harmonious Discipline(2 temp HP) and a ranged basic attack on J(Forgot to include the bonuses from my ki focus on my sheet, so they're here.): 1d20 + 10 - 2 ⇒ (9) + 10 - 2 = 171d4 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10

Ovid darts forward, but the shuriken just misses his target and tings off of the door.

The skulk sees Corpus and takes an shot at him.

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24. Hit. Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7.

The bolt hits Corpus in the shoulder and the gnome reloads with a grin.

It's a little late in the day for Corpus and Ovid, but don't forget you all get +2 to movement in the first round of combat. Sorry to be dozy - I really did mean to mention it earlier.

Male Hobgoblin Cosmic Sorcerer 2

Move to J17
Blazing Starfall centered on J7,
1d20+6=26(CRIT!) vs Reynol Reflex, 1d4+8+1d6=12+4=16 total radiant damage
1d20+6=11 vs Jarge Reflex, 1d4+8=9 radiant damage
The burst creates a zone bounded by burning ground that lasts until EOMNT. Whenever an enemy within the zone leaves it, that enemy takes 3 fire damage.

Flames pour down from the skies, badly burning Jarge, though totally missing his friend. The lingering flames will add to that should the halflings move away.

Jarge screams something, though what it is remains unclear.

Female Drow Wizard

Magic Missile vs Raynol - 7 damage

Malize doesn't even bother to add to the sinister banter as she fires off her signature magic missile.

Malize's magical dart slams into the wounded halfling, but he doesn't fall. Like Malize, Naubos doesn't move closer, but he also doesn't attack.

The genasi woman, Ediza, burst into a flurry of motion. Weaving Genasi magics, she focuses threat on Kevaras, even as she slashes at Corpus before ducking backwards.

Using Aegis of Assault, she marks Kevaras. She then attack Coprus with Swordsnare, an encounter power. 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13. She misses, then then shifts back to I10.

Reynol is angry and ignores the door to attack Santander. He moves forward, though staying inside the firey area. A blast of mystic energy shoots at him.

Dire Radiance against Fort. 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17. Hit for 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7 damage and if he moves closer to Reynol on his turn he takes another 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8 damage.

Corpus ducks around Ediza, drawing an attack from her in the process.

Ediza get an OA against Corpus. 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11

She misses, badly, and the weapon master cuts Reynol down.

Jarge, ignoring the flames around himself and the slowly ebbing fire, focuses on his work.

Arcana: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26.

The last of the seal lights up and then dims - everyone with arcane knowledge just knows that the door can know be opened.

Meanwhile, Ovid darts forward and attacks the genasi viciously while her back is turned.

Open The Gates Of Battle, move to H11 and attack(vs Reflex, extra damage if target uninjured): 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 7 + 2 = 102d10 + 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (1, 10) + (4) + 6 = 21

Or I could miss horribly. That's always an option.

Ovid darts forward and swing at Ediza, but the Genasi ducks around the spear. The skulk sees a chance and moves in to swing his pick at Corpus. (The skulk is wounded by the way, he did not heal between fights.

Pick with flanking: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29. Ouch, crit. Damage 1d8 + 1d6 + 11 ⇒ (4) + (5) + 11 = 20

The pick slams hard into Corpus, who is badly hurt.

Suddenly two ghostly figures come through the doorway and start to attack. The door is still closed, they just phased through it.

No OAs against the ghosts this round as they have suprise. They attack with black claws, vs fort. One attack Ediza: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8 and one attacks Kevaras: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20. Kevaras is hit for 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8 necrotic damage.

Ghosts are hostile to both sides and will attack a random target inside thier movement range each round. They are insubstnatial, and so take half damage from attacks.

Ire Strike. Ovid to hit Ediza

Vernal breathes deeply, absorbing the wonderfully heady emotions surrounding him and leans gently on Ovid's shoulder.

"Just give me a little more of her anger," he murmurs blissfully. Waking up slightly, he smiles at Corpus.

The drow crusader answers the genasi's challenge with Ardent Strike.

Malize intones a string of horrid syllables and shapes a ball of force. She launches it at their elemental opponent.

Malize's force orb misses by inches and the genasi woman seems to be enjoying the battle.

Naubos moves forward the casts a spell. Many sparkly lights appear, seeking to confuse the skulk and the second ghost.

Maze of Mirrors vs Skulk: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9 and Ghost 2:1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9

Neither foe is affected by the attack. Ediza slams her sword into the ground, causing a shockwave, and then it crackles with magical force as she spins it in an arc.

I've lost the temp HP from Harmonious Discepline, so +2 damage to my next attack.

Ovid seems to simply fall back into his own shadow, only to reappear behind Corpus and the ghost. Then, with a flick of his wrist he slashes at his foes with lashes of shadow.

Minor, draw my spear. Move, Shadow Jaunt to I8(insubstantial until EOMNT). Standard, Masterful Spiral(vs Reflex, close burst 2, enemies only, force damage, Miss: Half damage, Effect: I have +1 reach until end of encounter) vs J, Gh1, E, Gh2, and G:

Rolls:
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 231d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 181d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 181d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 161d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 273d8 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (4, 1, 1) + 6 + 2 = 14

EDIT: Crit on G, 32 + 1d6 ⇒ 32 + (3) = 35 Force damage to G. EDIT EDIT: 4 damage to E from Flurry of Blows.

Corpus lashes out all around him. He hits the ghost and hurts Ediza badly.

Jargo moves and casts a spell that covers Corpus, Kevaras and Ghost 2.

Note, he still gets hit by Ovid's attack. I accidently left him off the list. Arms of Hadar, vs reflex. Corpus: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18. Kevaras: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16 and the ghost: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15

All three are hit, and feel magic rip into them and shove them away.
Damage to all three:1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10 and they are pushed 4 square. Ghost 2 is hence missed by Ovid.

Ovid becomes ghost like himself and lashes out with his spear effectively, hitting all his foes. The gnome is killed and all of the rest are battered.

Nice job by Team Hero!

Ghost 1 rises up and attacks Eliza. 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8. She's struck by the dark claw. [ooc]1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5.
