My main theme would most likely be: Pacific Rim soundtrack (main theme).
Also I like Gipsy Danger from the same album. I recommend listening the main theme. It has that "I got into over 200 feet tall mechwarrior, what now?" vibe.

Time to broaden everyone's musical horizons for Iron Gods. Check these out. I would recommend listening to them on YouTube first for those unfamiliar with them.

Afro Celt Sound System - a musical group that fuses modern electronic dance rhythms with traditional Irish and West African music

Air - a music duo from Versailles, France wonderful atmospheric music

Battlestar Galactica soundtracks (Syfy channel television series) - composers Bear McCreary and Richard Gibbs.

Escape from New York soundtrack

Existance by Audiomachine - Audiomachine does wonderful atmospheric music for movie trailers and video games

Journey soundtrack by Austin Wintory - music from the fabulous video game

Mass Effects soundtracks

Pacific Rim soundtrack by Ramin Djawadi

Priest soundtrack by Christopher Young

Skyworld by Two Steps From Hell - Two Steps From Hell does wonderful atmospheric music without vocals for movies, video games, and trailers

Trance Europe Express Volumes 1, 2, 3, 4

Van Helsing soundtrack by Alan Silvestri

Shadow Lodge

I've been playing Brutal Legend recently and am inspired to see how combining it with Iron Gods might work. Soundtrack is definitely compatible.

Sadly, my favorite Iron Maiden song wouldn't be a good fit for this AP; Powerslave would work much better as entrance music for Pharaoh Hakotep in Mummy's Mask (The Trooper, of course, had its time to shine back in Reign of Winter's Rasputin Must Die!). On the other hand, I could actually see Brave New World playing as a sort of "Death Music" for the Black Sovereign, since it seems you get to fight him in this AP; his entrance music, of course, would be Flash of the Blade. As far as seeing an Iron God rise, I'd pick Brighter Than A Thousand Suns.

Moving on from Iron Maiden (even though I really don't want to), Psychotron or The Skull Beneath The Skin by Megadeth would be a good choice, especially if they include a robot who's downloaded a human brain. A particularly brutal battle against a truly tenacious villain would probably merit Skin O' My Teeth; I'd likely use that for the boss of the Technic League.

Of course, once you hit Starfall (or perhaps the Silver Mount), you've got to take a couple tracks off of The Offspring's latest album. The Future Is Now is definitely a top choice for setting the mood of the first impressions of Starfall, and if you want a good "pump us up as we charge the Technic League's stronghold" pair of songs, I'd think that Dividing By Zero and Slim Pickens Does The Right Thing And Rides The Bomb To Hell could do the job really well.

With Metallica, again my favorite song really works better in Mummy's Mask; I'm sorry, but Creeping Death isn't really a good match. Even if it does have amazing guitar work. The God That Failed would be an interesting choice for the fall of an Iron God, and I can definitely see Master of Puppets playing during the buildup to the reveal. I'd probably try my damnedest to work Prince Charming in, probably as a villain during the first couple adventures.

A TPK "victory" scenario (everyone dies, but they take the final boss with them) would definitely merit Into The Fire by Sabaton. Especially if they use Alchemist's Fire or something else super-fiery as their final weapon (a flamethrower explosion at close range would work, but I doubt that's high-tech enough for them).

Exploring Silver Mount

Joe Satriani's music has a good "Iron Gods"-esque rhythm to it. In particular, the ones that come to mind:

Surfing With the Alien
Back to Shalla Bal

(And, yes, the inspiration for those two tunes is exactly what you're thinking.)

And I just love Can't Slow Down for a combat or action/chase scene.

EDIT: Also, for a more off the wall approach to Iron Gods- or just to set a counterpoint/creepy/strange vibe appropriate to the "alien-ness" of things for your players- how about some Space Age Bachelor Pad tunes courtesy of Esquivel?

Anything from Subterrania, if you want a REALLY scifi vibe.

(Examples)
Exploration and easy encounters

Exposition, backstory, etc.

Escape sequence, time trial, or possibly alien nightclub?

Puzzle sequence, quest briefing, stealth sequence

Creepy or undead encounter

Are we lost, Things are getting tougher

Hostile terrain, deeper and deeper

Minor boss, still deeper and deeper

Bug attack, they crawl

Strange magic, weird chambers, how is this possible?

Wet places, we shouldn't be here

Darkness, fearful diving, we REALLY shouldn't be here

Boss, plasma warfare

We won?

Surfacing, success, epilogue

I was going to respond with the Heavy Metal soundtrack but Mr. Iuz the Evil beat me to it in one of the first posts.

LORDS OF RUST

Look at the cover for Lords of Rust and TELL ME that totally fits the theme of what these guys are all about.

Metal as hell, with a rhythm that is almost robotic in nature, hinting at the nature of the master of these lords of junk and scrap...

Hell, the entire OST of Borderlands 2 can easily be applied to Iron Gods. Both are set in a wasteland full of barbarians, bandits, and the smatterings of extremely high-tech stuff all across the land, and the music reflects this in Borderlands.

I have tons and tons readied for this.

- Conan the Barbarian (Also, as mentioned)
- Planescape Torment by Mark Morgan (The weird somewhat industrial sounds match the tone.)
- Fallout by Mark Morgan (It works too)
- House of the Dead III and IV (Tense, electronic sounding, and sometimes a bit chilling.)
- Any laboratory themes from the Resident Evil (video game) series.
- Deus Ex Human Revolution
- Various OCRemixes ("The End" remix of One-winged Angel would make a GREAT boss theme!)
- Quake soundtrack by Trent Reznor (Nothing like some old school NIN sound to make a battle against horrors from space really fun! And of course...)
- Remixes of DooM 1 & 2 (Only the most METAL of remixes will do)
- Various tracks from TimeSplitters series by Graeme Norgate (The cyberpunk and Splitter hive levels especially!)
- Necronomicon by Nox Arcana (If we're having cosmic beasties involved, why not crank up the eldritch flavor?)
- Various Doctor Who tracks by Murray Gold (Many are very atmospheric and dramatic, some have a very science fiction-y feel to them... Plus, I'm an unabashed fan of the series.)
- Blade Runner by Vangelis (Vangelis isn't too out of place for Numeria, right?)
- Dune by Toto (Dune is a decent match up, no?)
- Fifth Element by Eric Serra
- The Thing by Ennio Morricone

In terms of character - Jump in the Fire by Metallica. (CE Human Pyromancer Wizard/Alchemist, kinda like a strange mix of Xzar and Ignus.)

My God, your choice of background music alone is making me want to run this AP!

All fantastic stuff. I'll add that there was music for the Thunderscape video game that you could probably find online somewhere (or just play it from the game CD). Some of it was pretty cool.

Also some of the music from the Dungeon Keeper game has a heavy metal feel to it. You can find it on Youtube.

I don't know about you guys, but I just found my "Welcome to Numeria" theme. Either that or this will announce their first encounter with hostile robots. Production music FTW

The music from Thundarr the Barbarian would work quite well, but I don't know if it's available anywhere.

Found this little number while I was looking for music for this AP. I think it works great for exploration parts, especially later on in Silver Mount.

Holy moly! That gave me chills!

Hoi chums,

Devs/Authors- What music would work for this adventure path?

GMs- What are you going to play at your table to make Iron Gods your own?

Players- What is your character's theme song/entrance music?

GM here. Excellent question. And this is something I am pretty good at. I'm doing a slight cyberpunk, horror mix it up. I've included music from:

-Shadowrun
-Fallout 1/2
-Silent Hill 1/2

And some of the less bombastic, more ambient tracks from:
-Deus Ex
Blooddragon

And this is only the beginning! As I continue with the planning process for session one (I haven't begun the game yet, pretty excited about it).

EDIT:

Silver Mount

Immediate Music's public albums (such as the Barbarians remix from Trailerhead: Triumph in the above link) are always worth grabbing. Their side project, Globus, offers some nice covers of previous work, but a lot of unnecessary lyrics are added to appeal to mainstream audiences. I'll link a few favorites from the Trailerhead: Triumph album.

Destiny of the Chosen

Ode to Power

Mercurial

And my personal favorite, Sanctus Immortale

Unsure as to why this is not there

Ghost in the shell soundtrack.

Liberty's Edge

I have several soundtracks that I use for separate books on Iron Gods.

As a kind of "main theme" for the Iron Gods campaign, I use Metroid Prime 2's title theme.

When running Fires of Creation, I like to jump right into the sci-fi with music from Mass Effect 1, 2, and 3. They have good atmosphere and a sense of mystery that works well for starting a Numerian campaign.

When running Lords of Rust, I like using the soundtrack from Fallout 3. It has a lot of wasteland run-down tech vibes that compliment the images of navigating Scrapwall.

For the third book, the Choking Tower, I found that the soundtracks for Assassin's Creed 2 and 3 worked well for keeping the theme sound sci-fi while giving a more fantasy feel that works well in Iadenveigh and the Smokewood. When navigating the Choking Tower, I actually used some music from the Metal Gear Solid franchise. The tracks from Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops had a strong industrial feel that I thought worked well with a more steampunk part of the adventure.

In Valley of the Brain Collectors, I still used some Fallout 3 music for exploring the large and mostly empty valley, and when things started getting weird, I pulled out the Dead Space soundtracks!

In Palace of Fallen Stars, Metal Gear Solid soundtracks became much more useful. The industrial tech atmosphere of the music was followed by some great battle themes. Metal Gear Solid 4's soundtrack was a great backdrop to the final chapter of the book and it's exciting conclusion!

Finally, in The Divinity Drive, I found myself falling back to more Mass Effect, and mixing in lots of Metroid Prime soundtracks. The Prime music has a lot of mystery and darkness so it carries most of the encounters well!

I use the Mass Effect sound tracks as well. I also use Dragon Age and the Conan movie soundtracks.

My group has been rotating through the soundtracks to Tron Legacy, Guardians of the Galaxy (as three of the PCs are basically Groot, Rocket, and Star Lord), and the Matrix. I also play Linkin Park's A Thousand Suns. I have a Sci-Fi mix as well consisting of Powerman 5000 - When Worlds Collide, Black Sabbath - Iron Man, Europe - The Final Countdown, Muse - Knights of Cydonia, Soundgarden - Black Hole Sun, Incubus - Stellar, Halo 2 Soundtrack - Halo Theme, and Breaking Benjamin - Blow Me Away.

I have createda couple of playlists for use of my group - if any of you wants to use them, enjoy :) I would also gladly take any suggestions on how to improve the experience.
The assumption was that i have 3-4 tracks that offer consistently similar mood, to be background for encounters. i use YT for ease of adding music and management.

3 playlists for Fires of Creation:

-
Torch Tracks: i want to show how the city is slowly starting to fall asleep. People had a week's worth of free time, not so much, but they took care of urgent, but not work - related stuff. Slowly boredom and lack of perspective starts to creep in. Add to that trash lying on the streets (they can't throw it into fire anymore), people dying in the tunnels.. It is no wonder they are starting to get tired. If nothing happens in a week or two, i want to switch that to music that shows disaster brewing - Twin Peaks: fire walk with me soundtrack

Expoloration: the mood lightens, all of us are doing something we enjoy. I want to ephasisze that PC's enjoy their adventures - no heavy or sad tracks on this one.

Combat: This list would be concise for most of the AP parts. Possibly only rural areas will have separate ones. As we are fighting using high-tech weapons it is filled primarily with industrial music.

I any of you has Scrapwall suggestions i would take them gladly - i want to show it as a lawless bartertown, possibly with middle eastern feel.
