Play by Post Questions

Liberty's Edge

With regard to running Pathfinder Society events via play by post (thank you for allowing this!) I have a couple of questions that are raised by the differences between PBP games and tabletop games.

First is the issue of character validation. As a GM, according to the PFS Guide (page 26), it is required to look over the participants characters and chronicles for errors, etc. Although the site where I'll be running (Macray's Keep) allows full entry and/or creation of characters, which participants will have to avail themselves of, I have limited options with regard to existing chronicles. There is the option of asking for scans or (yikes) physical copies, either of which I'm prepared to do, but I'm wondering if there are other options/suggestions out there.

Second is more of a discussion point I'd like to raise than a question. It revolves around a character that is involved in a PBP game (which can last for some time) and if that, in effect, 'locks' that character from participation in other games (of any type) until the PBP event is completed.

With regard to both of these issues, I will be encouraging players to create and dedicate the character to be used in these events to PBP and not trying to mix in other characters. Although I will certainly not prohibit mixing if players desire.

Any thoughts on these matters would be appreciated.

Don't worry about the first issue. As for the second issue: yes, you cannot play in another scenario while you are engaged in a PBP scenario.
