Vardara is up!
Vardara |
Swinging her weapon two handed, Vardara charges towards the second centipede.
Charge+Power attack,1d20 + 4 + 2 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (20) + 4 + 2 + 1 - 1 = 26, damage 2d6 + 3 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (2, 4) + 3 + 3 + 1 = 13

Hoppin' Robbo |
Knowledge Nature: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Robbo looks down at one of the centipede corpses ponderously, "Hmmm... I've heard of little buggers like these, but usually they live in warmer climates. I wonder if there's a hot spring or something nearby? We should see if we can track down the source!"
DM Post Ghost |
You see the sources before you get to the end of the tracks a wisp of steam comes out of a crevace with the vapor quickly freezing right out of the air.
The crevace is about 10 feet across and 20 feet wide.....the tracks come from this area.
closer look
Icy crevace goes down hundreds of feet
Azhateran Slug |
How are my chances at marking this space to return to it?
I get the feeling we keep running into new quests without finishing many. I don't mind in general, but we have at least one thats under a time frame...with no way to pull KD back up, I don't know that I trust tossing her down there. Then again...
Ahz utters a small gasp...
I would like to investigate it further...we have time.
Azhateran Slug |
Ahz thinks for a minute.
It's kind of hard to explain. Sort of a quest. thing. Part of what draws me to magic and the cosmos. Fire in ice. I've been searching for it. Well. For a long time...I don't know if this is connected or some kind of hot spring or something to do with the metal men or some volcano. I don't know. But I search.
Ahz gazes down into the pit and tries to guesstimate how deep it is.
How much rope do we have between us? I have 50' of my own, plus whatever we got from Rector..which was another 100? And the bit of masterwork I strung back together on the way, which is another 50'. So thats 100' of silk rope and 100' of hemp rope so far. What does everyone else have?
Azhateran Slug |
Ahz tries to guess the depth of the chasm - if it descends into darkness I'll drop a lit piece of something and see if I can get a better guess that way. Also, I'll see if I can move around and find a place with either an easier descent or something with a ledge to make partial trips or less distance down. Or something.
DM Post Ghost |
In the bottom of the crevace the natural stone is uneven the stalagtites 4 you saw are now obviously piles of carrion with one egg on top of each pile...
Knowledge nature
DC 10
These are large insect eggs, you guess whiptail centipede eggs
In one corner a hot spring bubbles up into a large pool that both provides fresh water and heats the entire cavern.
Perception
DC 17
You see no other exits from this one main chamber
DC 25
You note a low ledge and a very narrow passage underneath it.
DM Post Ghost |
Azh
Near the springs you find a small cube just under an inch across and appears to be made of ivory, bone, or some other white hard mineral. Each of the cube's faces are polished smooth, and etched with runes.
Karrg paces around the area above once in awhile making a noise or playing in the snow.
DM Post Ghost |
Hoppin soon comes face to face with a skelton, however after a few moments you realize it is the remains of a human from some time ago....
Hoppin
You note the sketleton appears old, with the clothing and leather all gone away however a long sword, breatplate and shield catch your eye as still being useful.
