Any chance we will see a Mythic update product for Occult and Intrigue?

Running a high-tier Mythic game requires a great deal of flexibility on the part of the GM.

Like having the Mythic Monster Manual. And also paying close attention to your party's normal tactics, and striving to genuinely challenge them with at least some encounters. XD Also, it helps if the GM disallows choices that significantly add to your damage (like the original Mythic Vital Strike... *Shudders*).

Liberty's Edge

Guide to Mythic design : kill anything that adds to the rocket tag effect AND promote/create things that ensure being able to act significantly in the second round of combat

That said FWIW, I would love a Mythic Vigilante :-)

Technically, I think Distant Shores offered some Mythic material. But yeah, I generally agree...overall, Paizo doesn't think - probably rightfully so - that mythic material is very popular, so at most they'll put out a little here and there, not provide a lot of support for new material.

The problem is that mythic stretches and breaks the limits of Pathfinder. Mythic made Wrath of the Righteous a walkthrough for our group, and with one exception, none of us are really the type to munchkin the system. In fact, I suspect that WOTR would have been better played by non-mythic characters.

It is incredibly hard to write for, especially once you get beyond the low level/low rank tiers. And if you try to write challenging encounters for high level mythic characters, you're into lethal rocket tag territory.

I really wanted to like mythic, and parts of it I do. And parts of it I will have fond memories of. I bought every mythic supplement that came out. But I don't know if I'll ever crack open the covers of them again.

For anyone feeling the same way, I invite you to check out Mythic Solutions for just 2.99. In it you'll find 20+ pages that thoroughly explores the challenges of mythic play, addressing specific problematic rules as well as general principles at work in mythic. We combine our own experience writing the original mythic manuscript, the final published version, writing close to 2000 pages of additional mythic material, and a close reading of messageboard commentary on all aspects of the mythic rules to develop a deep understanding of what works and what doesn't. We then boil that down into an analysis of key problem areas with explanations of how and why they are problematic (either by themselves or in combination with other things) and offer a modular set of fixes for each one, ranging from modest adjustments to total bans (foe-biter, I'm looking at you!) that you can use to tailor the level of mythic to suit your tastes. We priced it at just 2.99 because we think everyone who ever liked parts of mythic should get it, as we think it will help you look at mythic again with new eyes.

TL;DR - To quote Endzeitgeist's review, this is "the single most required pdf any group utilizing mythic rules can buy. Period. This book, in fact, is in my opinion just as crucial to mythic gameplay as the core book (and a healthy dose of LG-books) - this is the non-optional fix for the issues."

If you are using Mythic and not making use of Legendary Games Mythic material you are, at least missing out, and probably shooting yourself in the foot.

Side note, why should Paizo work on Mythic when you have the LG supplements? No need to recreate the wheel.

I can't recommend Mythic Solutions enough. Since I have the Mythic Heroes Handbook, I don't have it as a standalone (since it's all in the big book), and haven't reviewed it (eep, still need to review MHH!), but the conclusion goes something like this:

Running a mythic game? Buy this. Now.

Ha, thanks!

I should point out that on Paizo you don't need to have purchased a product on this site to review it (you do on DrivethruRPG); if you've got a few quick thoughts you'd like to drop as a review for Mythic Solutions, by all means go for it!

Thanks for the kind words. I did have a conversation with someone in blue who expressed appreciation for us picking up the mythic torch and running with it.
