"Hidden" New Posts

I'm hoping the Post Monster General or Ross (Post Monster Colonel?) can answer this: What is the cause for threads that show X number of new posts, and, when that thread gets selected, none of the new posts actually show up, resulting in the need to "ghost post"?

You know how every once in awhile I'll visit the fawtl threads and post a bunch of times? That's me trying out another theory for how to fix it.

I hate sporadic problems with multiple possible fixes.

I once had to visit a client 6 times in 2 weeks before I finally got the right fix to her problem. :/
