So this weekend I was out in a public setting and had some free time on my hands so I broke out Pathfinder#4 and was reading it. When I did this it suddenly dawned on me that for the first time in 20+ years of playing D&D I could read my D&D stuff in a public setting and not have the, shall we say stigma, of reading something with "Dungeons & Dragons" on the cover in public. With "Dungeons & Dragons" you either play/played it or (most likely) have heard of it and think its a really weird and super nerdy thing to do. With "Pathfinder" you either have no idea what it is or you play it.
D&D has now officially lost all the baggage of the "Dungeons & Dragons" name. Weird.
Paizo now has lost the "nerd in the basement" stigma of the D&D name but keep the game intact. Double weird.
