Roleplaying a Bastard Evil Ruler

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

Anyone have ever run across these scenarios? Was it you? Was it your DM? Was anyone threatened with bodily harm, thrown dice, or ripped up character sheets in the process?

Wow!

That has never happened. I mean usually when you ask "whats the worst that can happen?" It is the death of a PC. Which can be hard on players who have not experienced that before in the game....

Experienced players on the other hand usually have a new PC in mind that they are wanting to have a go with.

Is there more that you can say about this incident?

2nd Darkness.

Evil-ish eleven ruler got all "nonspecific" and "flighty" when confronted with physical proof of their main enemies and their plot to kill ALL the elves.

Her response: lock us in prison.

Our response: track down the plot-enemies, kill them all, steal their doomsday magic, use it anyways.

Stupid elves.

Heh. Me? No. The only thing close to it that I can recall is when someone was running a homebrew and has a tendency to be a railroader. It came to the point where we were trapped and surrounded by this uber godlike BBEG and his goons and we couldn't go anywhere. This one guy in the group was playing a paladin. He wouldn't kneel. This UberBBEG auto-hits him to knock him on the ground. On the pally's move, he gets up from prone. And the DM auto-knocks him back down again. And then up from prone. I swear this went on for the equivalent of 'seven odd' rounds until we knew we were going to be trapped in a Groundhog's Day version of the Railroad. Let's just say that after the session, there was some vitriol.

Wow...

Spoiler:

And she's not even close to evil - she just had too many enemies around with ties to people who are...

P.S. May want to spoiler that.

Was the DM fudging the rolls to get those knock downs? OR was it DM fiat?

Also (out of curiousity) how did the paladin RP these events?

The other thing is a DM who puts the F U in fun isn't....

Considering we were very low level and the DM has a knack of claiming his younger daughter blessed his dice which enables him to roll high better than average ... you decide. ;)

The guy playing the Paladin is more notorious for playing evil characters, so while he did keep his temper under check, there wasn't much coming out of him other than his face turning red and replying 'I stand back up' when rising from prone.

This was four years ago, though. Given the proliferation of all these evil threads going on right now, I figured I'd start one up and see if derails to good practices. LOL

I considered spoilers, but that was general enough IMO to avoid ruining the story.

If not, I apologize.
