Iron Chef: Golarion

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

Scarab Sages

Hi, all.

I just got a really funny, and awesome, idea from another thread regarding the creation of Magical Foods via the Profession: Cook skill.

Along those lines:

Do you think it would be possible to create a viable character that dual wields frying pans (or other kitchen utilities), with ranks in Profession: Chef and probably Craft: Weapon (So he can eventually enchant his Frying Pans)?

If anyone knows of a good way to do this, please let me know!

My initial idea is Human Fighter. You get the extra feats, which are important for Catch Off-Guard and possibly Throw Anything (bottles of super-spicy hot sauce, anyone?). Anyways, let me know what you think, and tell me if you have any better ideas.

OT:
Heh, at first glance, I thought this thread was Iron Chef Golem

It would probably be easier to give a rogue a couple daggers or kukris and just say they're kitchen knives. Maybe take Catch Off-Guard with one of your rogue talents. The low damage you'd get from an improvised weapon doesn't really matter when you're also doing an extra 4d6 damage.

Bonus points for style if he goes, 'Bork bork bork!' and talks in mock Swedish...

Ulfen Chef?

A thought: How would a flaming burst cleaver possibly affect the cooking process?

An argument could also be made for cooks being capable of a monk-like flurry of blows against plant-type and aquatic creatures.

Wait... should we get a homebrew thread going to create a class called "Iron Chef"?

... Because that would be !@#$-ing awesome.

*Edit: I guess it'd probably be a prestige class, though...

A PrC suited to fighters or rangers that grants the capstone ability to render any foe slain by a critical hit fully prepared as a fine meal? Just like a video game! Sword the bad guy and a cured ham pops out. :D

Aren't frying pans also meant for throwing?

And the butchering aspect of preparing different meats would surely give him the basis for precision/anatomy-based damage against animals.

This could be like 1st-edition monks...to advance past every level above 7, you have to find and face off against the current chef of that level, and defeat him in a cook-off, no holds barred. UNtil you get to be, at the pinnnacle...wait for it...the Grand Master of Flours.

(thank you)

James Jacobs could be "the chairman" Erik Mona, Alton Brown, the announcer.

Gary Gygax, Ed Greenwood and Monte Cook, the judges

That depends entirely on how much James Jacobs loves bell peppers.

And magnificent attire.

For anyone interested, I've posted a tentative class called the Iron Chef in the homebrew forums. Enjoy XD

Additionally, I'm going to start the Official Iron Chef: Golarion competition! I will be accepting nominations from anyone for people that could serve as judges, a host, and of course, chefs!

This competition will be done using a variety of skills, though the main focus should be on either the Profession (Chef) skill or Craft (Food) skill. All entries will be accepted, and details regarding the competition will be released soon! However, there is one other challenge...

All chefs wishing to compete in this competition must also be viable combatants as well! Ergo, the Gnome Rogue with 7's in every stat besides Wisdom would be disqualified. All Chefs will be using 20 point buy, and should be built as level 10 characters.

In addition, chefs are required to have a decent backstory, explaining not only how he became a chef, but discussing his style of cooking and why he does so.
