Scarab Sages

Well, I finally finished the first area of my new site. Specifically, the feats section. For a while I had grown tired of grabbing multiple books, flipping through all my PDFs, and taking a lot of time to look up the various feats from all of Paizo's lovely splat-books. I also missed having access to them when away from my home. Being able to use the online Pathfinder RPG PRD is great, but alas, that is only core.

So I created this site. When complete, it will have lists of every Feat, Spell, and Trait in all the books that Paizo has released (from the Pathfinder, Companion, Chronicles, and Pathfinder RPG lines). Initially I was only going to share this with players that came to my games, but Mr. Jacobs pointed out that all the nice mechanical nougats I wanted to share *were* covered under the OGL, so this site is safe to share with all of you.

Only the Feats area is done now, but it does include a nice big table of every Feat I could find, updated to Pathfinder RPG (if necessary), and hyperlinked to a longer version of said feat below.

Oh, and if for some reason anyone finds out I *am* sharing things that weren't covered under the OGL (I am pretty sure I'm good, but I could be wrong) then please let me know ASAP so I can remove the offending items.

Anyhow, enjoy!

The Archives of Nethys

Edit: Almost forgot to mention, but I also included a nifty little P symbol by every feat that is legal for Pathfinder Society play. The same will be done for the Traits and Spells areas once I'm done with those.

I tried going to your page and could not get there. Is this the correct url? (nethys.karuikage.net) Firefox kept telling me the site timed out.

Probably too many people trying to hit it at once I would imagine.

I'm having trouble accessing it as well.

Scarab Sages

Grr, as fates would have it the server went down for updates last night. Should be fine right now.

Looks pretty sweet.

Scarab Sages

Traits have all been added as well, and tagged with a "Society Legal" P symbol just like the feats. Not sure when I'll get the Spells done as there are a ton of those... we shall see. :)

Great work, Karui! One small thing... please list the sources with the full names, too, and not only abbreviations (you could have a list at the end of each page).

There is a list of abbreviations at the end of the page.

Scarab Sages

Like Guard said, just see the footer at the bottom of the table and you should find such a list. :)

Very cool, added to my favorites list!

Bookmarked!

I bookmarked this yesterday, you sir are a saint.

Scarab Sages

Thanks everyone :) And if anyone notices a feat or something I missed in a book, please let me know and I'll be sure to toss it up there.

Scarab Sages

Added a new section for my 3.5 - PRPG conversions, currently stocked with the first five Legacy of Fires and four Pathfinder Society missions.

Er... there is? Well, it's obviously invisible to all dwarves, or I would have spotted it! ;P

Anyway, Karui's work once again proves why Cheliax is the supreme nation on Golarion!

Yep must be just the short folk as I see em :). Once again nice work

It's technically at the end of the table for the feats, not the entire page. Look below the last feat in the table and you should spot it. ;)

Oh, and a quick question to users of the Archives. How would you prefer your spells formatted? Do you prefer:

A. The Pathfinder PRD style, with a page for each Spell and Short description by class, a page for every spell in alphabetical order, and a page for each individual spell

OR

B. A style similar to what I have the feats set up in. Each spell and short description at the top (likely sorted by class) along with links to the long description at the bottom on the same page.

Your choice. I think I was going to go with A for familiarity's sake, but figured I may as well ask.

I'd go with something similar to B.

A Spell-list page (maybe a seperate page) and then the list with a short description (alphabetically) and below the long description.

Quick question Karui... do you plan to duplicate the entire d20pfsrd.com or just parts of it? Is there something you will be adding that is not already part of d20pfsrd.com? Is there any reason you decided to create s separate resource as opposed to becoming a collaborator with us? No offense intended, I'm just wondering what the purpose of the site is when d20pfsrd.com is open to any and all who would like to contribute...?

The more different formats, the merrier. At least as far as I'm concerned.

Sure, it's fine with me, it just seems like it would be a better use of time and effort making one resource better as opposed to making another resource. I guess it doesn't matter of course, as since its all OGC and/or CUP content he can pillage from us and vice/versa. So his efforts won't go to waste (we can copy from him whatever he posts that is OGC/CUP compliant, and he can do same with our content).

Scarab Sages

I'm not sure what you're implying about d20pfsrd. I did look around other sites to ensure no one had done what I wanted to do, and yours was included. It seemed more like a core resource than a pure paizo splatbook resource, which is what I wanted to create. Checking again, I only see a few splat book feats on your site, there's only traits from a couple books (edit: more than a few on a second glance, your table at the top doesn't seem to have all the references or traits in there, it still looks like a few books are missing though), etc. My goal was to have every feat, trait, and spell I could find from all non-core Paizo released material. Since no other site did that, yours included, I decided to make my own. I didn't 'duplicate' anything of yours, I checked your site, your site had very little material from the splats, so I did all my own work using all of my PDFs I get from my subscriptions.

The core of it comes down to that I just wanted control over what went up on my site. I only wanted Paizo released material, I wanted it to be all in the PRPG rules (which means I may have converted material in a different way than others would), and I wanted it to have my own theme.

Above all it was a resource for things that I wanted my own players, both in Society and AP games, to see, along with a place to put any work I did converting things from 3.5 to PRPG. Being able to tag all Society applicable material was also a goal, and has made it very handy for when I'm helping new Society players make their characters.

As a last bit, I just enjoy projects like this. Like you said, you're welcome to copy all the mechanical bits and such to your own, it's all OGL. There's really not much work in it so I don't think I'm saving you any time though, it's all just copy/paste (whether it's from a PDF to the site or one site to another).

First let me apologize if my post came across as hostile. I didn't mean it to be, I was genuinely curious what the goals were.

Sometimes I think what is in my head is obvious to all lol Sometimes I think I've said something and find I never really did. To clear that up then let me say here that my goals for d20pfsrd.com are:

1) to post and promote sales of anything and everything released by Paizo that is OGC and/or available under the CUP
2) to post and promote sales of content from 3rd party publishers that is created for Pathfinder
3) to post content created by fans for Pathfinder
4) to convert OGC content released for previous editions of the game to Pathfinder rules
5) whatever else we (or you) dream up

We've actually already been doing all of those above and have already posted many "non-core" feats, spells, monsters etc. It's just that its a pretty large task linking them into the rest of the site properly because we don't (currently) have an automated linking process in place (we're working on it).

With that said, yes, we plan to and are currently posting as much "non-core" content as we can to the site.

Yep, work in progress :(

And which you did a great job. Again, I'm sorry if there is/was confusion. We ARE posting non-core content, we just haven't gotten it all yet. We could actually use more help in that area too (hint hint lol)

Karui Kage wrote:

And that I can perfectly understand. That is the precise reason I ended up starting this site as compared to pfogc.com.. I wanted to control the content and pace.... so I get you there.

Karui Kage wrote:

Again, very valid reasons. I would submit though that once we have everything in place it should be very easy to determine core from non-core based on how we are planning to segregate the content.. again though its just that we haven't gotten all the way there yet.

Understood.

You've actually done more work than you realize. We can now just take your feats page (for instance), pass it through our beta-linker process, and spit out fully linked content. It is a time-saver whether you know it or not :)

Scarab Sages

Well I'm glad to be of help then. Ultimately I think two different resources will be beneficial, especially if you plan to have 3rd party content on yours as well. Then DMs looking for just Paizo content can point to mine for their players, DMs more open to other content can point to yours. Ultimately it'll make things easier for players, which was the main reason I made my own site. :)

Great site Karui. I've been recommending it to folks.

Scarab Sages

So I've been working on the Spells and believe I have narrowed down a format. I also started putting Source information in the main body of each Spell, instead of up in the main list. I have been pondering doing the same with Feats, but am not convinced yet.

If anyone was interested, feel free to check out a preview of the Spells thus far. The 'source' area I have in each spell is what I've considered doing to the Feats area as well, removing the source column from the main table and just adding in this bit to each feat. I'm worried it might be a bit cluttered, but am open to comments.

Spells sorted alphabetically
Spells sorted by Class

Scarab Sages

Huh. I think my post was just ate.

Anyhow, the gist of it: Previews of the spell area are below. As you'll see, I started including the book source in the main body of each spell instead of above. I have been considering doing a similar thing with feats, getting rid of the source column in the table and just sticking each source into every feat. If you think that would look better (or worse), let me know! :)

Spells - Alphabetical
Spells - By Class

I like how you put the source in the spells. And it should work with the feats as well, though for the feats put it on the bottom.

Scarab Sages

I think I will include it in the Feat bodies, I am liking it for the spells. On that note, about half-way done with all the Spells. Been working on them all day. I see spells everywhere now.

Also, Nethys has a facebook fan page. He commands me to spread the word. WORSHIP HIM.

Heretic! As a Chelaxian, you should bow down before the might of ASMODEUS, not that whimpering, minor deity of magic! ;P

Scarab Sages

Asmodeus and I are actually good friends. There's a lot of summoning magic involved in all his priests' devil alliances. In fact we just had a punch social last week. Though I think the punch he brought was all blood. He's weird like that.

To be honest, I'm pretty buddy buddy with most of the gods. Everyone loves magic, and well, that's kind of my thing.

Except Irori. F*** Irori.

Scarab Sages

Guh. Well, I said I wanted to start and finish the Spells section in 2 days and I've done it. The spells section is now complete and up to date, barring any spell or two I might have missed. Hopefully the formatting works for everyone, I'm pretty happy with it.

Not sure what I'll add next. Maybe that Monster Lore bit, maybe a section on magic items/equipment (though that list is humongous and very intimidating). For now, I shall enjoy a few days of a break, especially since this month's Pathfinder trove doesn't seem to have anything new to add. Phew!

As always, enjoy!

Any notable ones?

Well, there's a lot of them, I guess the notable ones depend on what kind of character you have. Five spells and a dozen or so traits from "Andoran, Spirit of Liberty", seven feats and one spell from "Cities of Golarion", five feats, fifteen spells, and a large number of traits from "Dwarves of Golarion". There is also a list of material from yet to be released books that I will add as they come out.

Personally, I like all the dwarven traits. ^_^

Grand Lodge

That's because anything dwarven automatically ROCKS!

By the way, Nethys is obviously dwarven cause the site ROCKS!

I think this is my new favorite PFRPG crunch site. I like to run "official" Golarion games, with only setting-specific rules, and also do a lot of PFS as player, GM, and designer, so it's nice to have a resource that compiles the stuff not in the PRD and lists what's legal for PFS and not. I like the simple format, too. Good work!

Do you plan to add weapons/magic items/equipment, PrCs, and alternate class abilities or spell/summon lists? I know there are examples of each of these listed as legal for PFS play.

Grand Lodge

while we are at it, can you go ahead and list the classes and conditions and monsters (ESPECIALLY monsters) as well?

>;)

well okay I had WANTED to ask but didn't want to sound greedy, but Yoda opened up the Pandora's Box so...

lol :)

Liberty's Edge

I've been using your site quite a bit lately! It was a big help in getting players set up for tonight's society game. Now, if I could just afford a little laptop for the gaming table I'd be set! Give Nethys our thanks and praises for his bountiful creation!

I have been considering a number of those things as next in line for adding, but want to make sure on the legality of everything. As far as I know pure 'crunch' is ok, but I wasn't so sure when things started to have lots of fluff within them (as a lot of magic items do). It's probably ok, so I imagine that will be on the list at some point. I think I'm just over-cautious from the restrictions on 3.5.

There's also a *great* deal of magic items, maybe just as much as all the stuff on my site put together, so it could be a while. :) Ideally it will be done sometime soon though, maybe before August.

Alternate class abilities and summon lists I could easily toss up though in some kind of "Alternate Play" section. I just need to figure out where all the current examples of each pop up.

This is almost the entire reason for making it. Ever since 3.5 I've wanted a site that had all the mechanical little bits in one place for easy access. Don't get me wrong, I love the fluff of books too, but it's much easier to figure out where Chelaxian fluff will be than to figure out where that one spell that is kinda Cheliax themed but could also be Hellish or heck maybe it was even in a Pathfinder book... etc.

The Society thing was also a big part. Running a lot of Societies I noticed the groups I gamed with never seemed to use non-core mechanics, when there were a decent number of good and available ones. I'm also working on a PDF that will have *just* the society legal material on it for easy print-out to Cons and such.
