Natural Armor advancement for Animal Companions

Rules Questions

Sovereign Court

Beyond the leveling from the Druid Animal Companion table, Animal companions also advance at either 4th level or 7th level. When one of these advancements occurs and it lists that the Natural Armor is increasing, does the number reflect the new base level of Natural Armor, or is it in addition to the Natural Armor the creature had at 1st level?

As an example, does the Elasmosaurus, which begins with +2 Natural Armor at 1st level, gain an additional +3 NA at 4th level, for a total of +5 NA, or does the total NA equal +3 at 4th level?

I could not find a specific bit of wording to back me up, but I've always read that the level increase was in addition to the level 1 base value. In your case, the Elasmmosaurus would have +5 NA at level 4.

Yeah, the close I looked at other entries this looks to be right. As an example, the constrictor snake starts with +2 NA, and then at 4th level gets +1 NA. Presumably that isn't a downgrade so they ought to stack.
