Costumes?

Is anyone 'dressing up' for Paizocon? I know Paizo had a costume contest at Gencon, any plans to do one at Paizocon?

Contributor

Jodi's been talking about an Amiri costume, but I'm not sure if the goal is to get it done by PaizoCon or by Gen Con.

Shadow Lodge

Jodi would make an awesome amiri!

I'm planning on doing something far more simple.

Well I'm considering throwing together a Cayden Cailean cleric costume, but I want to make sure I don't show up as the lone douche in a costume.

Liberty's Edge

If it is a well-made costume, people will be impressed, and no one will care that you are the only one dressed-up.

If it is a bad costume, like the ones you usually encounter at anime cosplay events, well...douche might be the difining term. ;)

Dark Archive

Yes, I'm going as Amiri! Of course :o). I love that art! And I like barbarians a lot. So this will definitely be cool. I intend to start on the costume THIS week sometime...going to start buying some materials and keep it as low budget as I can. Most of the materials are super cheap it's just the time that costs the most. :o) I want to get the costume done prior to PaizoCon for sure.

I can't sew so my costumeness is reliant on motvating my wife to costume craft. I'm not doing anything really crazy looking but should be decent.

there better be pictures here

Can't sew either, I'm just planing on getting a custom scarf made and then hitting up renfair supply places for the rest of the outfit. Maybe snag a chain shirt from Think Geek.

I'm planning on a Pharasma costume and I know some other peeps who are doing Sarenrae, Nethys and ?X?X??X.

Might dress up as the Harrower myself. :)

I'm going as a dalek.

yup. we're gonna need some pictures back here on the east coast

I like the full-length, sleeved, riveted one (of course the most expensive).

Ahh, for a disposable income!

I think that this might be bad customer service, offing our best customers. I may have to have a talk with Vic about this...

Anybody who dresses up in a reasonably elaborate costume will get weekend-long high-fives from me, and will be called on first in any seminar I'm involved in.

I've been considering dressing up as you, James. Would that fit within the high-fivable category, or is it crossing a line?

hmmmm, I think there is a fine line between homage and offensive

Dark Archive

If could attend PaizoCon, I would come as myself... clad only in my beard! And then I would dance for all of you...

I plan to disguise myself to appear exactly like Mark Moreland. That way you're never sure who you're talking to when you're talk to Mark ...

No, no; that's easy. We'll just refer to Paizo staff members by the names "Josh" "James" and "Jason" randomly, and if "Mark" scrunches up his face and heatedly corrects us, we'll know.

Heatedly? Nay.

My fury is ice cold.

I guess I could go as Josh instead. I did shave my head to be Dr. Evil one halloween; this wouldn't be that different.

Oooh! I would like pictures of this. :)

(I assume some of those daleks the Doctor sucked out of Canary Wharf in London ended up in Golarion in Numeria, and that negotiations for permission to use Daleks in Golarion are currently underway....)
;)

I'm trying to convince my wife to go all Cosplay... but its goinf to ve quite hard to achive...

Depends how flattering the portrayal is. It would definitely earn you a high-five. The question is whether it would also earn you a restraining order.

Silver Crusade

Won't be able to make it to PaizoCon, but I'll try to have my "Guy From Crown of the Kobold King" costume ready in time for GenCon.

Bring your twenties.

Incentive enough for me.

$5 on the latter.

I thought Dr. Evil had more, je ne sais quoi, hair?

Just make sure Sean will wear his ultra-cool 'Sunglasses of Intimidation'! ;)

Oh, and you haven't reported to the Asmodean Inquisition in some weeks now -- as you well know, all Erinyes secretaries are required to do so regularly, and we're very interested in hearing about Paizo's plans for the future! Also, you should try to brainwash Sean into writing more products for Cheliax (if he should make his Will save -- unlikely, but it's still a remote possibility -- remind him of his contract). ;P

Silver Crusade

I'm unable to go to PaizoCon this year, but if I was, I'd definitely be going as one of those Andoran fellows from the cover of their sourcebook. I really like the uniforms...

Either that, or I'd try going as Harsk.

Ooooh! I totally approve of this plan!

I’ve decided to buy the costume a little bit at a time, about a piece per paycheck between now and P-Con. First piece is ordered, a custom stainless steel tankard with a line from the placard of wisdom on it.

Contributor

Where'd you order it from? That sounds like a link other Paizo fans would be interested in.

Here you go.

Scarab Sages

my boyfriend is trying to get me to go as Shelyn. ... I'm a little nervous about that dress, though. ... though a tiara would be cool.

I'm pretty sure that as long as it keeps the basic tunic-design you'd be able to adjust the slit in the skirt and the neckline to your own comfort-zone and remain recognisable (especially if you lug around a big-a** falchion as part of the costume;) ).

Scarab Sages

I will be there as myself.

So, Nethys.

Me.

The Exchange

I might get a little festive, but nothing Iconic.

Scarab Sages

Ok, I'll go as Shelyn.

Who's going as my brother? Anybody have enough piercings to pull off Zon-Kuthon? :)

Dark Archive Vendor - Fantasiapelit Tampere

This demands pictures! I want to see pictures after the paizocon of your costumes!

OooH! I know of another person doing Shelyn so it should be interesting to see what differences different people come up.

When is everyone planning on wearing their costumes? I was thinking on Saturday since (I'm assuming) I'll be working and running around on Friday. I think it would be fun to coordinate the timing (and because I am incredibly paranoid about being the only one wearing a costume).

I am designing a costume for wear, possibly all three days. I have never been to a gaming con before. What is the policy on weapons? Swords and daggers and such? What I am designing could include a bladed dagger or if there are rules against such things I could have the blade removed and attach just the hilt to the scabbard. This would be an insane amount of work (detaching a blade from a dagger/shortsword) so I need a ruling on this if anyone has any thoughts?

If there is a Grand Convocation again on Friday, that might be a better time to be in costume. Don't know the schedule yet though.
