Changing a Wonderous Item's Slot

Is there any way to alter the slot an item takes up? IE. Making an Belt of Giant Strength occupy a different slot besides belt?

A PC was telling me he thought in original 3.5 this was possible (for an added cost), but I'm not sure it can still occur as I thought Pathfinder specifically consolidated those items to prevent abuse.

In 3.5 creating an item for an "unusual slot," or a slot that the item doesn't go in normally, increased the cost. That's since been removed. You can now make an item for any slot you like following the guidelines for creating magical items. The only price modifier based on the item slot is if it is slotless.

I could be wrong, but I've been through the crafting a magical item section quite a bit and haven't seen anything otherwise.
