I would add "weapons (bomb bays)" - or whatever term you want to use for weapons dropped from beneath the ship.

Bomb Bays are something I might avoid initially. This is really due to the skyship designs I have planned. With ship design I am really looking at them with this mind set, "How would skyships be designed in a world where floating lands cover only of 20 - 30% world?" Many of the skyship structures are built off of designs from birds and other flying animals and monsters. This skyship are not going to look like what you would generally expect in type fantasy setting.

Getting above another ship will be an extremely important maneuver in this sort of game. It's much easier to drop your weapons/troops/whatever onto another ship than it is to shoot from a distance or board from the side, and it gives you a distinct advantage: your opponents have to climb or shoot upwards.

I think bombing works great on stationary or slow moving targets. On fast moving vehicles, I think it will be a little tougher. You see planes drop bombs on land targets and slow moving sea vehicles all the time, but not other flying vehicles.

I disagree, I think it works wonderfully, if you drop the right things. Imagine your ship has 10 barrels of oil inside, each with a pipe leading out of the hull. Hop over the enemy and open the pipes, letting a cloud of oil rain down over the enemy ship. Then start shooting flaming arrows at it. Another along the same lines would be metal furnaces on the sides of the ship, with coals inside, get above and in front of your enemy, then open the furnaces and rain down hot coals on the ship.

OK these are a little more interesting then what I thought. I may have to rethink my inital thoughts.

I am imagining a ship that gets above another one and "grapples" with it somehow, forcing the ship below to stay below. How is it going to fight back? Not very effectively. Drop some oil/fire/monsters/pirates/poison gas on it and you've won the day.

If you've got ships moving really fast, they aren't going to make very good targets for this sort of thing. But I'm sure there are the big slow-moving ones as well...

I imagine you were thinking of hulls opening and dropping giant boulders. Of course, that works with gravel for ships, most ships don't fly to well in artificial hail. ;)

And flying creatures do this kind of thing in nature. Vultures and eagles and even hawks have been documented dropping prey from heights to kill them (especially tortoises, to crack the shells), so it would be a natural even following bird and creature designs for ships.

If you're following bird and other creature designs for ships, there should definitely be ships with "claws" underneath that can grab on to other ships and... well, wreak havoc in a number of ways.

Good point. Sort of like that fighter in Buck Rogers that the bird guy flew.

I could even see small 'fighter craft' single man ships with bird claws underneath, for grabbing and ripping larger bird ship wings off.

That would be Hawk, you speak of. My geekness knows no bounds.

To be honest the "small figther craft" will be monsters that you ride like a griffon for example. I want skyships to have at leat 15 people to run a "small" one.

One thing that hasn't been touched on is the ability to upgrade your ship. The ability to modify a stock vessel to suit your needs is an absolute must. The ability to add templates to the base ship to improve its abilities as well as add in modifications a la carte would be the most fun.

The "Eon Chicken" is a Brallian Navy Shrikeship with topped out wingsails and an overdriven furnace," said the Captain.

I'd like to see a fully 3D combat system with maneuvers and stunts and all that.

I "plan" for the system to be COMPLETELY customizable. So you can type a specific skyship body and size and build in what you want, how you want it.

Save your money!!!!! We are not anywhere close to taking pre-orders right now.

BUT.......

We will be releasing a race product for the Pirate of the Bronze Sky setting soon. Here is a hint, they have four arms...

I like to call it a Remix. I have to keep my gamer street cred.

That is a GOOD question. Over the last few day I have done a quick list of the Pirates of the Bronze Sky product list which includes:

Siege Weaponry - Coming Late March / Early April
Skyship Creation - TBA
Fleets of the Bronze Sky - TBA
Races of the Bronze Sky: Kaylethon & Mechanons - TBA
Races of the Bronze Sky: Wayfinders & Arboreals - TBA
Races of the Bronze Sky: ??????? - TBA
Campaign Item Cards: Pirates of the Bronze Sky - TBA

I would like to have everything completed by the end of the summer for a fall / winter full campaign setting book release. But this all depends on my personal time availability with my new baby coming.
