So what type of dice bag do you have?

The forums seem to be bummers lately. So I thought I would start a possitive one.

So...What type of dice bag do you have? Crown royal bag, Leather, chainmail, tube sock? What type of dice bag do you own? I have seen tin lunchboxes to a small jewelry bags.

I always had some lame bag for my dice. Some cloth bag that had it's seams spiting from the wieght to a pencil box. So I finally went out and made a dice bag that suit me just fine. he has been by my gaming side ever since. I named him Sac. SAC!

So whats your dice bag, and do you have a cool story for having it.

I used to use the typical booze swilling geek dice bag, a crown royal bag, but now I use that to hold all the fake gold coins I use for Three-Dragon Ante. Now I use a canvas dice bag (natural, unbleached color) with an oriental dragon print on it. It's a bit too small really (it's all stretched and bulgy when I tie it shut) but it holds all my dice, and I LOVE oriental dragons.

I'm not one of the "cool kids." I don't tote around enough dice to need a Crown Royal bag.

Oh, and your headless teddy bear is great.

Maybe you should make one of those crazy PC's that carries around a teddy bear and talks to it, you could use your dice bag as a prop!

My Crown Royal bag holds my minis, the dice get a mesh bag with a drawstring.

Currently running a heavily modified/expanded version of Freeport's Trilogy and Black Sails... so I have a toy skull (from a Pirate's of the Carribean set) that stands about 20cm high...the back clips off and inside is just big enought to hold my oversized red die set... looks pretty cool sitting next to me on the game table.

Old style cloth banking bag.

Hows that working for you. I currently put all my mini's in a Wizards od the cost Card box. But I will soon out grow it. I was going to make a run to the nearest card shop for one of the big boxes with the partisions. But the box would be awkward as all get out in my gaming backpack.

Would a bag be better or has it been a nightmare bending swords and catching on threads and such?

Scarab Sages

I have a large dice bag made by "The Gamer's Bag." I think the company is now defunct though as the website is for sale. They did good work and offered a lot of variety in regards to size and patterns. My four kids all have small dicebags made by them, birthday presents from a few years ago.

Nothing super cool or fancy, but I've been using a big brown leather dice bag I purchased at one of WOTC's long-dead gaming stores about nine years ago. The only visible wear to the bag is the once-shiny golden dragon logo emblazoned on the side of the bag, which has nearly completely faded away.

Shadow Lodge

I have two "standard" dice bags.

I have my big thick suede leather one that houses the bulk of my "standard" dice, and I have this neat one I picked up at Gen Con two years back that houses my standard dice I play with (now powered by Gamescience dice).

The neat thing about my new dice bag is that it folds out flat when it's open such that it turns into a dice rolling surface. This means I'm less inclined to keep watching dice skitter off the table (which is nice).

I got a huge insulated mug thing when I opened a bank account years ago, part of some promotion thing. The mug came in this humongous blue bag with draw strings, and I immediately knew I wanted to use it as a dice bag as soon as I got it.

Only problem is that I don't have much dice so the bag looks kind of dumb being 3/4ths or so empty. Perhaps I should stuff it. It would look less inadequate that way.

Yeah, but if it's 1/4 full, it makes a good sap.

My current bag is gray velvet drawstring.

The oddest one I ever owned was one I received as a joke gift when I was a teenager: a zippered pouch made from a bull's scrotum.

You could always put a piece of felt(or some other cloth) in there and use it as a dice roll pad. like what MisterSlanky has with his dice bag.

Call me orthodox: it's always been Crown Royal for me.

At least it wasn't a goat scrotum waterskin.....

I only have 2 minis that the sword bend, but that is okay, I don't use them much. A friend of mine discovered that Scotch tape placed around the sword helps keep them from bending.

I've got a bag that originally held about $200 worth of some asian tea. One of my fellow gamers' had a brother who was really into tea, and he buys the primo stuff on a regular basis, he handed it over to his brother and told him to give it to one of his Warhammer FRP guys for use as a dicebag.

It even came with a little pouch that had a small cloth (made of the same fabric as the pouch)folded into it, the cloth has a symbol/some asian character embroidered into it. I keep it in the bag, because I think its kind of cool.

I have no idea what the name, type, or brand of tea was in the bag prior to it belonging to me, but I'd like to, sadly, I've had little success in finding anything remotely similar.

Crown Royal bag that I have had forever, my dad gave it to me for dice. At the time i didn't even know what it was from. I just thought the purple was pretty.

My wife loves dice (as do I).

We have a fish bowl full of dice; it weighs about 10 pounds.

My wife keeps her personal dice in a custom made box; I keep mine in a Yankee Candle jar (the big one).

One of the advantages of being on medication is the regular influx of conveniently-sized orange bottles with child-proof caps and my name on the label.

That's for carrying to games. For home, I admit to having a little plastic three-drawer thing, for d6's, d20 / d10's, and everything else.

EDIT: Oh, and I used to be a big fan of Dragon Dice. So I still have dozens of pseudo-leather dice bags in black, red, yelow, and blue, each with a big TSR logo.

Silver Crusade

I was given a little bag as a gift from two students about five years ago. It is one of those cute Korean string-pull pouches with a cat on the front. The pouch is in good condition and carries more than enough dice.

My current bag is a black bag I got from the Armory back in the dark ages. basic black cloth with a black drawstring.

For a brief period of time I used a chainmail bag that I made. Note: Chaimail EATS dice. If you want to do this, put a cloth bag inside the chainmail.

Good tip.

I am finding out this thread seems to be filled with good tips and little things of that matter.

A dice pad to prevent dice rolling off the game table,
Scotch tape on swords to help prevent bending,
And The bag inside of chainmail to preserve dice.
not to mention good idea's for dice bags.

Liberty's Edge

A crown royal bag.

I saw those on a few gaming sites when I was shopping for my current dragon logo bag. I have a question. Is the rolling surface rigid? If so, how does that work when you close up and tie it shut?

Actually 3 bags: two Paizo big purple dice in a D&D basic dice set bag; Large black bag bought from Paizo holds Gamescience (2 sets), Chessex (3 sets), D&D Basic set, chessex D6 (2 sets); Crown Royal bag holding all plus D-Total die. I have the remainder of the "Pound of Dice" in storage in a plastic bag for now. WHEW!

The Exchange

I have a small and a large chainmail bag, both I made. I also have 3 or 4 crown royal bags....
That said, I love the Empty stuffed animal bag! I will be doing that.

That's going to be a magic item in my next campaign, ever filling, but can't get rid of the taste.

Hardest thing is finding a bear/whatever the size you would like to make. I personaly sewed the arms and legs to prevent dice from going down into them. you may want to take the fluff out and let dice go down into them for extra room. The rest was removing the head. put in some Eyelets & Grommets feed a string though and slaped a cord lock on it.

You should have no problem since you have made chainmail bags.

My only regret. I wish I would have kept the head for my 55mm d20. but sadly I made my bag back in 2003-4ish? And my d20 came a few years later. but The bear has held up strong and is still my companion on game night. and shows no sign of needing to retire.

The Exchange

I have a box. Square hand made and easy to use since it also has a spot to role the dice on. At some point I am going to have it stained and add some felt in the rolling portion. I also have a matching book holder to have a book open at the gaming table.

An 8x5 draw string blue vinyl bag. I don't remember where i got it from but I've been using it for over 12 years.

I LOVE Dragon Dice. I have 6 tackleboxes full of Dragon Dice. I don't know if you knew this, but another company had picked up on the license and is making them again (or at least was at GenCon a couple years back)!

a vinyl zip up makeup bag. don't know how i got it.

I use this one.

I also use the bag from this. I've got 40d6 in it and I call it the death bag. It is only for use when a PC gets nailed with a disintegrate spell. >:D

Two years ago, for my annual group Christmas gift exchange, I handed out personalized Crown Royal bags. Everyone got one with their name on it.

Partly because I thought it would be neat for each member to have their own bag, and partly because I was tired of grabbing the wrong one >_<

{deep, rasping sigh}

Ah, yes. Dragon Dice. A nice idea, and there was obviously some tactical refinements to the game that ended up on the editing room floor. I've probably got as many of the little suckers as you do, dmchucky69, and I never quite got over the feeling that the game would end up being fun, if only I bought one ... more ... case of Magestorm, or whatever the current supplement was.

Did you buy the "Cast of Fate" novel? Apparently, nobody at TSR told Allen Varney that his wordcount was going to be reduced by 15% to drill out the pages and make room for the die. According to James Ernest, Dragon Dice was one the nails in the TSR coffin. "They could have paved their parking lot in unsold Dragon Dice."

My friends and I, we ended up writing a territory-exploration game using Dragon Dice. Each terrain on a large board held a monster or two (or a dragon) and a selection of Magestorm treasure items, which you could use to buy mercenary "horde" armies. We called it "Esfah, a Fun Game to Play with Dragon Dice." (We were snotty, we were.)

I use this bad boy from Duluth Trading Co.

As a carpenter and working man, I gotta say I love Duluth Trading Co. Some GREAT ideas and extremely high quality. One of my favorites has to be their extra long t-shirts, cause it sucks to bend over to cut or grab something, and have icy winter wind blow up your back because your undershirt came untucked.

My original dice bag is a blue bag made of some fuzzy velour material on the outside. I must have bought it some 20 years ago at a game shop with some dice. The poor thing's been through everything, and there are some patches that have worn away to almost see-through on it. It just bulges with dice - it's like a spiky rock when filled.

A friend of mine made me bigger bag a few years back. Very soft and strong, with a two-tone, blue-burgundy harlequin kind of look. On it's own, I wasn't using it much. Instead, it's now used to hold my old blue bag - so nothing falls out.

Yes, that's right. It's dice bag to hold another dice bag that holds dice!
To top off all this nostalgia, the bag also contains my original yellow dice set (with pencil filling the hard-to-see numbers) from the old Basic D&D set. Still use them from time to time.

My wife knitted a bag for herself and me. Mine is a simple bag with vertical black and red stripes. Her bag is purple with each face of a d6 in blue-green on the bag.

I have a leather pouch I bought on the Koenigstrasse in Stuttgart way, way back when I was in the Army (the 1st time).

It's held up beautifully. I had to replace one of the drawstrings with a new strip of rawhide. Other than that, it looks as good as the day I bought it.

I've got three :
- One black small leather bag with my set of metal dice.
- One black medium size leather bag for my other dice (all black with white or red numbers, or grey with silver).
- One black leather belt pouch that i like to call my components pouch, that i was using in the old time, when i was a real geek.

All my other dice, the ones i don't use and keep for lazy diceless players, are in a wood box.

It's semi-rigid. I haven't had a problem yet with it not folding flat enough to roll on, but it folds up fairly nicely (it's a bit weird to explain how it folds up, but it's almost like it folds up half-way then the fabric on the edges does the rest.

Kirth Gersen wrote:

For D&D, I use two specially designed bags that come pre-attached to the inside of my pants. They're called "pockets".

But for Champions and other games with a lot of dice, I use an old margarine tub full of dice, cardboard counters, etc.

I use a worn out black leather tobacco bag. My grandfather gave it to me back in '82 when he quit smoking, and I have used it ever since.

There's even one twentysider in it that is as old as (or even a year older than) the bag. It's almost spherical, and I don't use it anymore, except for 'spreading the luck' over the other dice.
