Elder Evils - Anyone else use this book?

3.5/d20/OGL

I picked this book up in a lot some time ago and finally cracked it open. Has anyone else used any of the baddies out of this book? How did you implement them? Were they the focus of the campaign, or a random encounter?

Lookin' for some input!

Yes, have used alot - just depends on the campaign you're running. I've found it useful fo all the things you mentioned.

Just wanted to say I read the title as Elvis evils

I own the book, but I have yet to read it.

Silver Crusade

I've never used it as a campaign world killer/changer, but I have been sorely tempted to do something involving Ragnarra.

I really like this book. I have not used any of the Elder Evils in my campaigns yet (although I also think Ragnorra or Pandorym are excellent choices), but I have used some of the NPCs and encounters. For instance, my players are in the Age of Worms (WARNING! SPOILERS AHEAD)..................................................................... ........................................................................... and just finished Library of Last Resort. There are seven PCs in the party and I felt the encounter with the advanced Boneyard at the end of that module was not challenging enough, so I inserted the evolved atropal scion and 2 famine spirits from the Atropus chapter (pg.28) instead. The players had a tough time dealing with its death gaze (save DC35), but managed to defeat it and the famine spirits with only two casualties. Well, the druid character died from its gaze, and the barbarian was plane shifted into Baba Yaga's Hut (heh-heh...but that's another story...)

Strangely enough, I have no desire to use any of The Worm That Walks chapter in the AoW. I considered using Edwin Tolstoff as a major NPC, but I think he's too similar to Kyuss and would ruin the climax of the campaign. I may use some of the other stat blocks like the blessed spawn of Kyuss, but that's about it.

Yeah, I did sort of find it odd they included a Kyuss-themed chapter, when around the same time wasn't Age of Worms still in circulation? It seems like they'd contradict each other. I didn't read much of that chapter so I can't say for sure.

I've been heavily leaning toward the serpent god Sertrous as a campaign villain. It gave me an old-school Conan the Barbarian versus Thulsa Doom/snake cult feel.

Seriously, if anyone wants to know what's in this book to use in their game (as I have especially for high-level games) see this THREAD.
