Urban equivalent to Survival?

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

Looking around to see if anyone knows of an urban equivalent to Survival. While I realize that, ideally, characters wouldn't have to do the typical scrounge for food & shelter in a city, I'm thinking of something to help a character/party survive on coppers, hunt, track, etc in large cities; large cities are a kind of jungle in their own right, right? I know a simple reskin would work wonders (You can use Survival, but only in an urban setting), but I was wondering if there were anything out there before I resorted to that maybe more elegant or established.

Sure, Diplomacy (Gather Info as well as negotiating), Know: Local, and Sense Motive will be your key skills for Urban Survival, along with Stealth, Bluff and perhaps Climb (or Swim?).

Check out the d20 Unearthed Arcana Urban Ranger variant. Some of the skills have been consolidated, but it should work on top of a PRPG Ranger, and even if you're not a Ranger, it should give you an idea of how to run this aspect (e.g. now that anybody can Track in PRPG, anybody should be able to Urban Track as well. Expanding on the rules, I may well throw in some additional checks, say Know: Local to be able to make use of your good Diplomacy roll, or to be able to present yourself in a way most liable to get the results you want.

There's a feat that I wrote in Taldor: Echoes of Glory that does what you're looking for. I think it's called Urban Forager.

yep knowledge locale 4 ranks, survival 4 ranks and track which is pathfinder would be knowledge locale 1 rank, survival 4 rank

And let me say Joshua, that was my first pathfinder companion I bought and I had no interest in taldor before I read the book. You really brought the place alive for me, well done sir.

Actually, the UA Urban Ranger is what I'm tinkering with, meshing that and the spell-less ranger from KQ 11. Thug from UA was a good lead-in for some urban help as well.
The feat would likely be of great use for me, as I'm trying to fill in about three blanks that an Urban Ranger of this build has now for class features. Would that feat be OGC?
I'm also digging through the skills to balance it out right so that an urban ranger doesn't get more skills than a woodland ranger, so I'm trying to balance the city skills with the general ranger-esque skills. Course, being an urban and "educated" character, I could rationalize the extra skills that way and a narrow window to use them in.

Never mind, found it! OGC from Taldor! I might want to tweak it for my urban ranger a tad, restrict it solely to urban environments, as it is with that write-up the character could still use Survival in the wilderness, whereas my urban ranger would be city-dweller only.

Ah, thanks man. My ultimate long term goal is to one day either write a 64-page book on Oppara or a much longer hardcover on Taldor. But those are long, long, looooooong term goals. We have a bunch of other stuff to get out first. :-)
