I will transform this wonderfull 3.5 class to pathfinder class
but the turn and rebuke undead is changed...
i think give the feats of control undead bonus at 1st level of class, but
maintain similar the other powers of class (and the 14 levels of PgC)
any idea?
sorry for bad english

Actually, True Necromancer is kind of weak to begin with. I would advise you to check out the Dread Necromancer from Heroes of Horror - a far better version of what many believe a necromancer should be :)

i dont like dread necromancer... i tink the true is more complete and fun class ^^
i have tinked a conversion for necromantic prowess (+1/+4) add this at all caster level spell of necromancy and CD for control undead

Conversion conversion! lol

Ok, I get where you're coming from when you say that the True Necromancer is more fun than a dread necromancer. I've got rigimortis for necromancy, and the True Necromancer is a really flavorful and unique approach to the school of necromancy. But here's the problem: The true necromancer class is 14 levels long, *requires* you to take a prepared arcane/divine class (because spontaneous would prevent reaching the end of the class), and doesn't advance spellcasting at every level. So, while being a spellcaster (necromancy being spellcasting) is your main deal, you only get to be so-so at it. The class requires cleric 3 / wizard 3 to enter, and then progresses each only 12 times. At 20th level, you've got the spellcasting capabilities of a 15th level wizard and cleric.

To more accurately describe this, (I cannot remember who originally said this, but it was from the necromancer's handbook) if the fighter in your party took leadership to get a cleric, and then that cleric took leadership to get a wizard, he would be bringing more necromancy to the table than you. As a fighter.

Now, if you want to fix the inherent problems with True Necromancer (and there are a few), I'd start with changing it to a 10 level PrC that fully advances both spellcasting classes. If you're one of the believers that gaining 9th level spellcasting in 2 seperate classes is OP, even a few levels late, go ahead and ban it from being taken in conjunction with Mystic Theurge.

I'd add the ability to eschew some to all of the costs for creating undead over the course of the prestige class, as well as perhaps caster level increases when concerning necromancy. I'd probably also apply a penalty to caster levels when casting spells of any other school (probably the same as the bonus). This should keep the class in line with Mystic Theurge.

Past that, I'm interested to see what you can come up with to make the class both fun *and* playable.

Dark Archive

A death-priest PrC that just added Wizard necromancy spells to it's spell list (perhaps with some restrictions) would probably be better than trying to advance both classes.

Alternately, a Necromancer PrC that allowed a Specialist Necromancer to add certain Clerical necromancy spells (such as the Inflict line) to his spellbook would also work.

IMO, the only reason the True Necromancer PrC exists is because archetypal 'necromancer' abilities are divided up among two classes in this game.

Well, that and the fact that WotC loved throwing out dual progression prestige classes- despite never letting them have nice things. :D

1 option is eliminate ability to create undead for more spellcasting

any comment? is very bad conversion?

Honestly?

We always found that allowing Precoscious Apprentice early entry made it playable as is.

By getting in early (and mixing with MT) you can have 9th level divine/8th level arcane casting at a good CL (allow practised caster)

and they get said spells early enough not to suck. Not OP due to action currency (simply has ALOT of endurance).

Cheers.

I'll be looking over this and get a friend to look over it as well.
