Stacking bonus question

Rules Questions

Hey you lot,

does the morale rage bonus stack with the bear strentgh spell? Have huge problems in my campaing due to it.

The Barbarian has a STR of 26 on Level 2!!!

RPG Superstar 2011 Top 4

Yes it does stack, they are different bonuses. Only 26?

Could get ;
18 base
+2 race
+4 enhance (bull's strength)
+4 morale (raging)

28 ^^

If you're having problems with it keep in mind Bull's Strength will usually only last for one fight. So you might consider spreading your encounters throughout the day so the party has to consider carefully when to use their resources.

Morning - Oh no, jumped by bandits! *Raging Bull's strength hulk smash*
Afternoon- Hrmm, that cave is guarded by a young owlbear *Raging Bull's strength hulk smash*
10 minutes later deeper in the cave- Is that a momma owlbear? *gulp*

Also, at second level, none of the casters should be able to cast it yet, so the Barbarian is probably using potions or having someone read scrolls to get the effect. Potions of Bull's Strength cost 300 gp, and standard wealth for a 2nd level character is only 1000 gp. He's dumping a significant portion of his wealth into the potions.

No I gotta cleric Level 3 in my group! Where exactly does it say now that different bonuses stack now?Page? I know it used to be like that in 3.5 times. And where is this moralenbonus clearified?Page? Searched to whole pdf! I know many characters get it though.

Can only find the dodge paragraph on P. 179.

"Unlike most sorts of bonuses, dodge bonuses stack with each other." Not very clear written indead

If the Barbar gets STR 26 again next time i might use "dominate person"

On page 208 & 209

"Combining Magic Effects"

This probably could have been indexed better to make it easier to find: effects (combining)

18 base + 2 racial + 4 morale (barbarian rage) + 4 enhancement (bull's strength) + 2 size (enlarge person) = 30 Strength at barbarian level 1 assuming you have access to a level 3 cleric with the strength domain (or a level 3 cleric with a level 1 wizard/sorcerer).

Damage with a greataxe: 3d6 + 15 (25.5 avg. damage) -- that will frequently kill an ogre in one hit.

It also will make the barbarian fairly easy to hit by an Ogre,a little bad luck and the barbarian is done for.. it is often the barbarian's way to go 'bye bye'.

Ogres aren't that high in CR anyway and it did cost about as much resources a typical CR 3 encounter should and no blows have been landed yet.

Dominate person is a 4-5th level spell on a 3rd level party are you trying to get lynched, Mr. Fishy has been threatened for outwitting a player with cantrips and a darkness spell.

If the barbarian is that much of a problem cast charm person or hold person or sleep or touch of fatigue or calm emotions, USE YOUR BRAIN THE PLAYERS OUT NUMBER YOU!

Dominate person on a party than low, you better have a good ground speed and an escape plan or a high ranks in BLUFF. Cause it is going to get ugly fast.

lol Fishy, I figured he wasn't serious back there.. but now I am starting to have doubts.. either way there are a bunch of 1st to 2nd level spells that can function just as well, besides do you really want to risk him critting that 9 th lvl wizard ? :p
