Specifically, I am building a character and using the Loremaster PrC. The secret "instant mastery" says that you gain "4 ranks of a skill in which the character has no ranks". Can the character then take a rank in that skill the same level? Or would they need to wait until the next level to do so?
My character goes into Loremaster at level 12 and takes this secret at that level. I had planned to take Instant Mastery in Appraise at that level. Do I have to wait until level 13 to start putting my own skill points into appraise or can I put some in at 12?
believe it or not, the rules specifically adress this. In the core rulebook, on pg 31- Character Advancement it specifies that you add class features for your new level, prior to adding skill points. So Instant Mastery first, then allocate skill points for that level.
