A Question of Skills...

Ok, I'm confused about a small issue in regards to skills.
I see that the progression for skill points is practically the same as 3.5, but what of the initial skill points? I know that in 3.5, the initial skill points were (X + Int Mod)x4, where x was based on character class. Is this not true for Pathfinder? Or is it that this was replaced with getting the +3 bonus to any class skills that had ranks assigned to them?

Thank you in advance to everyone who replies to this question.

It was replaced. And there are no cross class skills anymore, either.

This.

Paizo got rid of the whole idea of halving skill ranks for cross class skills and of getting 4x skill points at 1st level. The +3 for class skills handles both changes.

Very cool. Thanks to both of you. Should definitely make things much smoother.

It should be noted the + 3 is not skill ranks, so you may not use it for entering PRC's

If something calls for 4 ranks, that means 4 points in the skill not 1 rank and the +3.

It's a bonus not ranks

However keep in mind that for un-updated 3.5 prestige classes (aka all the non-core ones, the Archmage, the Heirophant, and the red wizard) that have skill rank requirements now have that requirement -3 if you are using them.
