Paizo psionics vs. others

Product Discussion

I've heard a lot about another company, Dreamscarred i think, doing psionics conversion for pathfinder. i don't remember seeing anything set in stone about Paizo doing psionics. my question is two fold.

do we know if paizo is planning on doing psionics?

and

if Dreamscarred beats them to the punch do you think it would be a good idea for paizo to release a set of rules after them.

i personally would rather paizo do their own conversion of psionics. i'm not exactly sure why i would prefer it that way just the way i feel.

what do you guys think?

Paizo might do their own version of psionics.

However, you will not see them in 2010. You're probably not going to see them in 2011.

You'll probably see Epic rules before psionic rules.

Dreamscarred, if nothing else, is passionate about psionics. They are trying their best to adhere to Paizo's design philosphy and goals. Not everyone agrees with every decision they've made, but they've been at the least- thoughtful about the process.

Ultimately, if Paizo does their own version of psionics, I'll probably get it. In the meantime, I might have two years to decide whether Dreamscarred has done a good job or not (so will Paizo for that matter).

Then when the time comes, I'll be able to choose which I think is best.

That's what you might be overlooking. You don't have to drive yourself crazy trying to pick one over the other right now. It'll be a couple years before you have to worry about that.

yeah i know paizo has already announced what books will be released for 2010.

i know i really like what paizo has done so far and am looking forward to seeing what they do with psionic, as well as many other things.

i guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens when it happens.

<nod>

But they've been asked about 2011, and while none of that has been set in stone, the prospects didn't sound good for psionics. They're always free to change their mind however.

I think Dreamscarred's psionics for Pathfinder will be the official ones - there's a thread here and the stuff they have done is here. So far it looks pretty good ...
