([number] new) It doesn't work! Well, not always...

Website Feedback

The threads I have viewed and have new posts on sometimes don't have the (# new) link on them. Why doesn't it work? Focus also doesn't work for the same reason.

While I'm here, can I ask for 'Focus' on http://paizo.com/paizo/messageboards in general too?

Sorry to moan. Hope I'm not bringing up old news.

using ff3.5.5, with adblock, noscript but paizo is allowed and cookies enabled.

Ta!

It matters which alias you defaulted to, if that makes a difference.
So Fayne won't see Kaile's threads, etc.

Naah - Fayne rarely posts anywhere outside his journal. Kaile hasn't posted in a long time.

Thanks for the tip though, and the dot

    They don't scare me!

Sometimes it takes awhile to get the "x new" or dot status, so rather than delay the response to your browser's request for a page, we shunt the x- and dot-fetching off to a separate process that operates concurrently with the rest of the website. In the meantime the server generates the page with whatever "x new" or dots it has on hand. Generally those should be there the next time you refresh the page, though it's been known to take tens of seconds for all the dots and whatnot to finish gathering.

As to global focus, boy howdy that's something I'd like to do, but haven't quite hit on the best way to do it.

Thanks for the response Gary. I'll be a bit more patient in future! The things you learn from just moaning eh?

Well, I wish I could offer a suggestion, but my speciality is in breaking sites, not enabling them :-)

Just watch out for XSS and SQL injection whenever you code, okay? And for goodness' sake avoid php!

    You can say that again!

[EDIT: Sorry, I thought you wrote 'breaking people's campaigns'.]

Hey! You managed it! Well done.
