Lies in Dust or what? Spoilers

Council of Thieves

So it took some time for part 3 to come out. But I think it was worth wait (finally)

Our party by the end of Six Fold Trial

Dwarf wizard/druid 3/2

Elf Ranger 5

Barbarian/Sorceror/Dragon Disciple 2/3/1

Halfling fighter 4

We did some side adventuring and took a few weeks off waiting for what lies in dust.

So by the beginning of what lies in dust, we were:

Dwarf wizard/druid 3/3

Elf ranger 6

Barb/sorc/dd 2/3/1

Halfling fighter 5.

We doinked around in westcrown a little as well and I got greedy trying to advance our fame and drew alittle too much attention and the halfling fighter and I (dwarf wizard/druid) got in a tussle with a hellknight and his hell hound buddy (appreantly he was searching for us or something)
Well the DM didnt exactly describe the HELL HOUND very well so (bear in mind Ive never played a druid before) I tired to wild empathy the hellhound.

So as we all know I had to make a new character. (hell knight drug my body off after he got frustrated trying to kill the halfling and couldn't)

So first off, I'll never try another mystic theurge again (at least not that way).

But then I decided to make a dwarf bard (I've been in silly character mode latetly because everyone else has the cool character classes sewn up and I didnt want to play a cleric)

So this dwarf has oratory (shouts insults and boasts alot) and wind instruments (blows a battle horn like a viking)

LEt me just say that the DM let me make a Bard at the same level my dead theurge was.

But holy heck this character rocks! Dang these bards are powerful (granted I didnt have to suffer through the bottom 5 levels so I can speak for that experience, butI think I suffered enough with the theurge)

The Dm made me make another character because he thought my dwarf bard would make quick demise, so I have a half orc necromacer as well.

So now our party is:

Elf ranger 6

Barb/sorc/DD 2/3/1

Halfling fighter 5

Dwarf bard 6

Half orc necro 5

The Dm said he worked me in as an agent of the Pathfinder society in lieu of some NPC we were supposed to meet but never did. So the dwarf is a semi NPC but I cant get access to the right NPC info without making theright rolls.

I thought it waas really cool being acharacter that was literally part of driving the story. It made several of my non combat aspects worth while.

Fast forward to the fisrt major encounter: Spoiler

We get this challenge from this wizard dude and a summoning contest.

Now this is really odd because I had just made a wizard character with augmented summoning as a feat without knowing about this kind of encounter.

My dwarf did some backround research on this guys success and found out he's known for summoning minor devils and we decided that my summoner couldn't summon anything that was going to last against a devil.

Oddly enough the party ranger IS a devil slayer. Sooooo rather than summon, my wizard was a buffer along with the sorceror.

Hot dog what a fun fight that was!

We were able to con the organizer into allowing our ranger in there instead of summoning, and she got her pet hyena , since it was "part of who she was".

Well let me just say the 6th level ranger with a mithral elven curved blade, devils as her chosen enemy and urban as her chosen terrain, was a literal devil cuisenart.

I have to say, getting the companion for this AP was well worth it. I don't think we would have made characters aswell suited to the campaign as we did without the hints in this book.

If we had to use my summoning we would easily have lost. But the ranger with all the buffing we got away with didn't even get injured wading through the lemures!

Now here's my one complaint.

Afterward, we won, here comes the summoner teleporting at as.
We all made our saved vs. his stinking cloud.
WHY would this guy bum rush a sword swinging ranger with a 6 foot sword and try and hit her with the staff?
It just didnt make sense.
He had some DR from somewhere, but heck, he's a wizard, it took us longer to kill all the lemures.

I think that was pretty dumb.

Anyway good fun.

People do some really stupid things when they are mad. Or get toppled from their perch as #1 in the only thing they know and are good at. Or lose a lot of money.
