Yes they do have legs

Sadly the sales so far have not paid for more detailed artwork, so no legs :) Course its Dec, a rough month for any Rpg.

We will see how the Wyrd of Questhaven do.

I am particularly interested in the clockwork familiar template. I have been tinkering with such a thing for a while now but I went the path of feats as opposed to a template.

While I imagine I will pick up this book in any case (I really like ironborn) I am interested in what some of you think about the template. Don't worry about going into too much detail. Just give me a small thought or two on how you feel about it. I think I can trust the opinions of most people here.

Like I said before, I -do- like the art and the 'concept' concept behind it, it just raises a couple questions here and there. For what it's worth, I don't pay much attention to art in rpg products unless I actually dig it.

It was ;) Merry Christmas!!!

Alleynbard, I would tell you about it, but I am biased :)

:) I don't mind at all. I certainly won't begrudge you a bit of self promotion. I would love to hear what you have to say.

Like I said, I will likely buy this product in any case. Just mostly curious about the clockwork familiar as it is a passion of mine, so to speak. I am a big fan of clockwork/steampunk material.

The PDF is on my other computer (I really thought it was on my new laptop). I need to download the update correction that Steve put out, but is there anything specific you're wanting to know abu the clockwork familiar that I can answer for you?

Here was the design principle.

It was primarily influenced by the Clockwork creature template, it offers the benefits of being a construct, a familiar with damage reduction but includes the requirement of a key to keep your familiar wound up, if you loose the key you can have someone use a disable device check.

That sounds really cool. As if it wasn't sold to me already, that really makes it intriguing. Going to go buy it right now.

Qwillon told me enough to whet my appetite. But thank you so much for the offer. I appreciate it. I think this product is a must buy for me now. :)

:P

It's a cool concept nonetheless. Once my woman heals from her post-op, I'll read further through the brass tacks beyond what I've already brought up thus far. Hope it plugs and plays into your Ptolus campaign. :D

Thanks, I think it really will. From my point of view, I have some exciting developments in my Ptolus game. The Goddess of Gears, Tevra, is about to be awakened. Her reemergence will once again bring out the rise of Order on Praemal. This, coupled with the expulsion of the Galchutt in my past campaign, will mean an explosion of new technologies. This allows me to add elements as the campaign progresses and give them a reason for their existence. I believe the ironborn will work well as a new race that rises out of the earth to join the civilized peoples. Though I wonder if I should cast them as new inventions or as something from an older age unknown till now.

By the way, good luck with her post-op healing. I don't know how serious the surgery was, but I do know what that feels like. I hope she heals quickly.

Well, I'm not sure whether you're familiar with the original release of the ironborn. If not, the product will at least give you a background you can work with and make it your own. It isn't too dissimilar from its original version. As Steve indicated, he was trying to keep true the original concept but add some additional options above and beyond what was previously available.

She's healing quickly. Thanks. :) Are you referring to post-op healing in general or the type of surgery in-specific?

Glad all is going well Urzien.

Alleynbard look forward to your feedback/review.

I am familiar with the original. I am pretty happy with what was done here. There is some serious devotion to the original concept with just enough new material sprinkled in to make it fresh. So far, I am really liking it.

Just post-op healing in general. I am not sure what kind of surgery she had but I had a portion of my bowel removed roughly two years ago. It was necessary after my appendix had burst. The damage was so bad (I waited too long to go to the hospital) they had to wait a month to perform the surgery. Subsequent complications mean they couldn't do the surgery the way they wanted. So they had to remove about four inches of bowel. So I understand how frustrating and painful post-op healing can be. Took me over a month before I felt quite right.

I will be happy to post a review for it here. It might need to wait until after Christmas unless I get a free second in the next few days. But I am pleased to do so.

I do have a question for you. I have just started a new blog supporting Ptolus. In this blog I plan to present ideas on how to adapt Golarion material to the setting. Would it be okay for me to give some ideas on how I would present the Ironborn of Questhaven in the setting? I am thinking it would be a multi-part article with history, background, current motivations, etc.

Naturally proper credit would be given with each article and links would be provided back to purchase the Ironborn of Questhaven book. I can even provide links to other Rite Publishing products and to your website. I am a fan of promoting quality publishers.

While my blog currently has a small readership, I am hoping some more promotion will increase that readership and provide some foot traffic to the products I discuss in the blog.

This would have to be something that would wait until after the holdays, as my schedule is packed at the moment. :)

Let me know what you think. And don't feel bad if you have to say "no". I completely understand. I am aware that the ironborn mechanics are open content but I would like to get your permission any way. It just makes sense and it is polite and respectful to the publishers who put so much work into their projects. So, I think it important to ask even when dealing with open content.

I not only don't have a problem with it I would love to help you anyway I can (Qwilion loves Ptolus), offer some specials ect...

Shoot me an email steve (at) ritepublishing (dot) com

So we can go over some details.

I updated the file with some minor corrections and proof reading today soon as it updates on Paizo I will let you folks know. (Drivethrurpg/RpgNow is automatic).

I just caught that e-mail. Has this been frustrating you a little bit? I know I appreciate your quick customer service to address the issues, nonetheless.

Its frustrating to me that little things got missed by both myself and the editor (the proofreader is blameless as he checks grammar not game mechanics), but I am very glad we get the chance to correct them, plus I love all kinds of feedback.

Oh and a sneak peak at the Wyrd of Questhaven is up.

Thanks for the tip.

Sounds great. Let me get some things together for you and we can talk.

I already have a player that jumped at the chance to play an ironborn. He is currently playing a dwarf plagued with hypotrichosis, which means he has a total lack of hair on his body. He was rejected from dwarven society and was raised by the Lothianite church, making him a bit of a zealot. His zealousness led to his assignment with the Conciliators and their new mission. Now the Conciliators are interested in performing a new experiment on the character, one that will transfer his mind to a construct body. Since he is the only dwarf involved with the order, it made perfect sense. Thought it might be an interesting way to introduce one form of ironborn to the campaign.

I have some info on the new mission of the Conciliators at the Workshop of the Clockwork Gnome. It is apart of an ongoing series detailing the nature of the order.

Oops, thanks so much. I forgot to add the silly http://. I should know better.

Yep, that's the blog. Thank you again, Urizen. I really appreciate it.

Per Alleynbard we have a 5 out of 5 star review! Pardon me while I do the Happy dance of joy.

Thanks Alleynbard for taking the time to write up and post your review!

Thank you. I hope it ends up being worthy of your reading time.

These last two weeks have made it impossible to update. The holidays were insane this year and I still have to get through New Year's. My partner and I hosted Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's, which was a bit of a mistake in my mind. :)

You guys earned it. Part of that rating definitely came from the great response you have made concerning the updates. I really appreciate when a company makes those extra strides for its customers.

More than anything, I really like the product. It will have a great place at my table as one my players takes on the Divine Mark build. I enjoy what you guys did with the ironborn and it has pointed me towards your products for the future.

One of the valued aspects of the 3e era was the OGL and the companies that produced material under it. I truly beleive open gaming is not dead and I am overjoyed to see companies like Rite Publishing still producing great material.
