Pathfinder, here I come

4th Edition

While it's anyone's prerogative to speak their opinion, be aware that most of us have chosen their game and would rather people talk about their game of choice than bash the other game. We've all heard the arguments for and against the various editions to a sickening degree. This idea that 4e "isn't D&D" is old hat and we've all heard, debated, and flamed about it.

I'm glad you are happy with Pathfinder. Please do go talk about Pathfinder. Please don't provide another excuse for a edition flame war.

You have my apologies, sir.

I didn't mean to bash, although looking back, it occurs to me that that could well be interpreted.

4th edition is not a bad game. It just ain't what I'm used to.

Nosing around the boards a little more, I see what you mean about flame wars and edition bashing. I will say no more.

I really am amazed at the amount of self restraint exercised in this thread. I'm gonna release some doves outside.

Well, if I'd MEANT to be a jerk about it, perhaps things would have gone differently... =)

I apologize if the tone of my post was a bit harsh. I really like Paizo and its messageboards, but the edition wars have been quite an ugly stain. Anything that possibly reeks of battle immediately sets off the sensors. Thanks for handling it graciously, and stick around! These boards are a great place regardless of the game you play.

I must say, well done for voluntarily hitting the delete button.
So many threads would never spiral into madness if more people did that.

Welcome to the boards, and have some virtual cookies.

I have gone ahead and deleted my own post that I'm typing right now in response to the OP deleting his post. You can no longer read this post.

Spoiler:
PARADOX!!!

Apology appreciated, but unnecessary; like I said, upon looking around a little, I realized exactly what you meant.

Flame wars bore me. Sorry for trippin' the sensors'n all. Don't blame you, and appreciate the careful tone, hence the reciprocation. No harm done. Actually, I should have noted the warnings below the ANSWER box about profanity, hatefulness, and general venom -- that's generally a dead warning that the mods and dwellers within have had to put up with a fair amount of heat in the past, and aren't interested in having to run around stomping out more fires.

Didn't mean to be careless with my matches...

I really think the flame wars are old hate....anyone been to Dragonsfoot? Talk about some 3+ hate.....(Find it odd though that I see some 3e inspired optional rules leak in every once and awhile)

I love the 3rd edition I also love the 1st edition, and while I have played 4 edition I found it was not a system I enjoyed.

When 2e came out I remember having huge issuses with a lot of the changes, initiative mostly as I remember and as the years passed I never really warmed up to 2e till Planescape arrived.

I started to open my mind to a few other campaign settings and fell in love with Darksun.

2e to me pushed me overall away from D&D it was during this time I delved into other systems like Palldium and the D6 system. I hated Palldiums character creation and growned at all the D6's in the D6 system...I played some mechwarrior and shadow run and even toyed around with Earthdawn.

But 3e brought me back into the D&D fold. And then 4e came out. At first I was really excited, I remeber heading over to the WotC forums to ask some questions about a rules problem I was having and in my frustration over what I beleave to be broken in 3e got super happy that a new edition was coming out.

As the weeks went by though I heard more and more things I just didnt like. My opinion of course but good enough reasons for me not to convert.

So here I am once again, Im building a 1e campaign setting for my Family and working on a Pathfinder campaign for my buddies. Ive started checking out whats been happen over a Palladium again and reading up on all the kewl 3e OGL hacks and mods that seem to be turning out like crazy of late.

Im excited again!

I cant wait to see 5e!

If the pattern hold true so far 5e is gonna rock!

I'm sure if you wanted to, you could start your own thread making personal attacks against atheistic socialist 4e players. Would that make you feel at home?

Interesting you chose these particular examples.

Does it mean you are an atheistic socialist yourself? *wink*
