I must be blind, because I've looked, and I haven't seen the question yet.

Now that Keepers of Secrets is out, is the book legal for Pathfinder Society? Only certain parts, or all of it? I've already got players asking when they can use it.

Did you check out the blog today? It's all about how Seekers of Secrets is completely legal. I get no indication that there are parts which aren't permitted, though if there are they'll show up in the next version of the Guide to Pathfinder Society Organized Play, which should be out soon.

They are the Pathfinder Delver; Pathfinder Savant; and Student of War.

Keeper will be added to the core assumption section in chapter 1 of the guide book in 2.1. The only thing I'm changing is the savant's requirement for an item creation feat--it's Spell Focus instead.

How are wayfinders, ioun stones, and resonant powers going to work int he Pathfinder Society. Prices for regular, cracked and flawed stones are listed, so I assume we can buy them if we have the gold and prestige, just like any other magic item. But 75% of regular ioun stones and 25% of cracked and flawed stones have resonant powers. Do we do this roll in front of a GM and put it on our Chronicles, or do we just assume that we always buy stones with resonant powers? And then, do we determine those powers with Method 1 (standardized) or Method 2 (random, again, probably rolled in front of GM)?

...Heck, I'd figure that having a place to put an Ioun stone someone can't just grab out of the air is one heck of an advantage. Then again, I've had terrible luck with GMs who just rule it an automatic move action if you're adjacent or something like that.

Looking at how cheap cracked stones are, I might suggest that, for Society play, cracked stones never have resonant powers. And what the heck, they're pretty expensive, you could just go with regular stones always have resonant powers. That way, 1 out of 4 players doesn't walk away sad with a ioun stone that doesn't play well with his/her wayfinder. It would certainly simplify things and eliminate the danger of anyone fudging.

Pathfinder Delver: rogue-type class that trades sneak attack dice for a serious focus on trap disabling and dealing with the sorts of threats that tend to appear in tombs and the like.

Pathfinder Savant: casting PrC (any type of caster) that gets hefty UMD and writing-based spell bonuses, including the ability to use their own caster level rather than the scroll's when casting from a scroll.

Student of War: (for 3.5 splatbook types: this is the Knowledge Devotion as a PrC.) Full BAB class with 6 skills/level, focused on getting bonuses against monsters that you can make a successful Knowledge check about. (Seems made for the Dilletante feat.)


This is how I am noting the use of ioun stones from Seekers in 2.1 of the Guide:

*Always use Method 1 (never Method 2).
*All advanced ioun stones have resonant powers per Method 1.
*NO flawed/cracked ioun stones have resonant powers.

Good summary. However, I did want to mention that I've never read whatever sourcebook it is that Knowledge Devotion came from, so it wasn't my attempt to do it in Pathfinder :)

I like to sum up the student as "know thy enemy".

i have a question about the pathfinder savant with regard to society play. there is a prerequisite of "any item creation feat": for this class. in society play, item creation is banned. can we overlook that requirement? is there another feat that is required instead?
