This is probably readily apparent, but I want to make sure I got this right ...
To be a GM, all I have to do is buy and download a PFS adventure, invite 4 to 6 players to play the adventure, follow the rules of character creation and running the adventure, and report the results here.
I could announce the event here, advertise at the local game store, and/or post it on any local gaming sites.
I don't have to sign up to be a GM in advance? Just checking to be sure.

Correct.
It's pretty easy really, not much more required than running a home game, which is how it should be, easy to get involved, promote the hobby and get others to play.
Good luck, I hope you have a fun event!
